I put my bid in for about 4500 yen. Figured that would be a decent price for something listed as junk. I got my x68k keyboard from YAJ that was listed as junk and it turned out just fine. THe description just made it sound like the person had no real way of testing it properly, they just turned it on and it worked so it was a risk. Was willing to take that risk for about $40 but of course the auction ended at like 4am and I was outbid.

Anyone get it? I want one of these cool amps real bad. This one just seemed to be missing the brackets.

[General Gaming / Gamer's New Year's Resolution]

So last year around this time I decided to give myself a bit of a challenge and try to get going at beating all of the TG/PCE games I had been acquiring. Not that I hadn't been playing them already, but more so to push myself further. I started a thread elsewhere and surprisingly kept up with it all year and in the end I wound up beating 15 new TG/PCE games. I said I wanted to clear between 12-15 and I did it!

I was thinking maybe PCEFX would be interested in doing the same (or maybe some of you already do something of your own). It can be literally anything, but I found it fun to try to keep up with something over the entirety of the year. It also helps to not let shit sit on your shelf as you play the same games over and over again (not that your favorite games are bad, but variety is a good thing too).

Challenges may include:
-Beating X number of games for X system
-Beating X game after so many years (i.e. R-Type, Tatsujin, Raiden)
-Get high score in X game
-Buy as many games as humanly possible (not recommended unless you're also doing one of the above challenges )
-Work on your magazine scan/archival site
-Print inserts for certain games
-Hold more raffles
-Obtain X game/system
-Sell your games (not recommended unless you're selling them here )
-Attend a gaming event
-etc.

I know at the very least I kept up with mine, but I'm going to give myself more of a challenge this year ranging further than just Obey related gaming. So mine is as follow.

-Play more Sega Genesis (Beat at least 5ish? Obtain Sega CD too.)
-Get a few more Sega Saturn games and beat those (Strahl, Road Blasters, Dodonpachi, other shooters)

-Beat Metal Slug 3 for Neo Geo
-Play a fighting game at least once a week

[PCE/TG-16|CD/SGX Discussion / Game-clear standards (To 1cc or not)]

I've been curious to know how all of you go about considering games you've beaten officially cleared/finished/beaten/etc.


-Do you use continues or only go for a 1cc for an actual clear?

-Do you only use the number of continues that the game allots you?

-Shooters must be 1cc'ed but platformers can use continues? Vise versa?

-Certain shooters/platformers get exceptions and can use continues? (e.g. Tatsujin, Rayxanber, Browning)

-Play default difficult then ramp it up later? Start at highest difficulty?

-Only play the first level for your "review" of the game?

-Stare at your shelf-candy and don't play them in fear of ruining their value?



For some reason, shooters I don't consider it a cleared unless I 1cc it. Null always said he uses continues as practice for later stages and for practicing a real run. I've stuck to that. Yet platformers I use continues, especially Browning because it's so goddamn hard and cheap sometimes.

I'm not trying to say so-and-so didn't clear the game because they used continues; I'm just genuinely curious to see if you push yourself purposefully or just want to see those credits roll no matter what.

Before everyone goes buying an everdrive on their own, why not be patient and get a discount?

For those that don't know how it works. If we buy 10 or more everdrive they are $60 instead of $80. So with shipping and everything you're saving about $10-15. You may just have to wait a little longer for everyone to sign up on this thread and pool the money together, but it seemed worth it last time and worked out rather well.

[PCE/TG-16|CD/SGX Discussion / Tony Hawk worked for NEC and/or TTI?]

If you start around 7:30 Tony Hawk talks about how when skating was taking a downturn, he had to find other sources of income. He would edit videos and do...."video editing for TurboGrafx". 

I searched through the forums, but all that came up was discussion of the THPS games and whatnot. I know the characters in Riot Zone are Tony and Hawk, but it sounds like he's talking about something else. I had this on in the background while I was doing other things and when i heard "TurboGrafx" it caught me off guard.

If this is known, I apologize. I have just never heard of anything about this before.

1cc shirts does various video game related shirts every month. For only a month at a time. So last month's shirt was of a Taito Egret Candy Cab and they've had x68k shirts, Hudson soft shirts, etc. I'm sure some of you have heard of them, and I've seen the site posted here before, but just for those that don't know.

Normally I'd say $25 is high for just one shirt, but since it's Christmas season i can easily shoehorn this in somewhere and drop hints about wanting this. Figured maybe some of you would want to do the same.

So I've been wanting an Everdrive for awhile and seeing interest in other threads has prompted me to start this thread. I'd be willing to organize this group buy for some Everdrives.

Buying one on your own runs you around $85. This group buy should aim to save you around $10-15. It's $60 per person if 10 are involved so adding in little shipping fees here and there will still cut the cost of buying on your own. I'm figuring out how much the initial shipment of 10 everdrives will be so once i have that i can get a better number for everyone. I'd say now you're looking at maybe $70. I would need the money upfront before i bought it as I don't have that kind of cash to shell out, sorry. I'm sure most of you understand how this works but if not I'll try to explain better.

I just have a small question pertaining to the power supply for a Duo R. If i were to get a Duo R without the AC adapter but still with the AV cables, would i be hard-pressed to find just a PCE power supply? And does the Duo R require a certain adapter or will any PCE power supply work?

If anyone could point me in the right direction i would really appreciate it. I'm about to buy my first PCE so i want to make sure i have it all down.
