Howdy-

Up on eBay, I have put lots of PS1 & PS2 games, 1 PS1 controller, 1 PS3 game, plus an M-Network Tron joystick & Atari CX22 trackball as icing on top.

Is there a resource detailing how (if at all) the Japanese versions of US titles differ?
Thanks,

For Sale:

Entire US TurboGrafx 16 TurboChip (cartridge/HuCard) library.........except for Magical Chase...

93 Games. 1 yard worth of TG16 games. No duplicates.

Picture gallery (gallery has higher resolution pics than forum attachment pics): https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xj8mvnwdfltt8yu/mmIU8c7klw

Spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0As7-6oT7oyHudHRMdExheUdKNjk0ZHdvVEY5MFV0Rnc&usp=sharing

All have card, manual, jewel case, & card sleeve. No cardboard boxes or plastic box trays. All tested good.

Almost all games are in good/great condition. Deviations from good condition are noted--if a condition is not specified, consider it to be good. "Good" = slight manual whitening at spine or a minor corner fold, light scratches on case, a little insertion wear on card, shallow spine sticker concavities over case holes, etc. I quickly flipped through every page of every manual & saw no writing, tearing, severe folding, water damage, etc. Condition of clear jewel case fronts not noted, as they're generic CD case fronts & they're a dime a dozen. I think I've been conservative in my condition assessments.

All games that didn't include jewel cases when released originally (the later TTi releases) now have cases from "donor" common games, where I removed the original spine sticker, cleaned up the case with alcohol, & applied a high-quality reproduction spine sticker made by pcengine-fx.com user Sparky. I also believe that there are 1 or 2 games that originally came with a jewel case but I've used a donor case & Sparky sticker.

I want to sell these as 1 big fat lot. Please don't ask me to split it up at this time. Shipping will be from Pasadena, CA, USA. The 93 games are currently in a 26"x17"x9" tub that weighs about 32 pounds, if you want to estimate shipping cost when they're packaged carefully--probably split into 2 more manageable packages. I will ship abroad, with insurance & tracking, but be aware that it will cost tons. (In the hopes that I'll find a local buyer, I'm not yet investing the effort of packing them up in shipping boxes.)

I've gone through & looked at low & high completed eBay listing prices, generally ignoring shipping prices (tricky when shipping is sometimes free on a listing or calculated based on buyer location...). There were a few instances where I couldn't find completed listings, so I looked at active listings & estimated. Summing up the low & high prices of all 93 games resulted in totals of $2,905 & $4,955. (Just think, you could buy 93 of the 94 US TurboChips for much less than buying Magical Chase alone!!!)

Please make a fair offer on the whole lot plus shipping. I know, I know, generally, buying a set of games individually vs. buying the same set in 1 bulk lot results in a higher total price paid, but I've never seen a lot like this, so my biased opinion as a seller is that this whole may be worth than the sum of its parts. We'll see what the Price Police say. :]

I am posting this to several locations.

There were a pile of Namco arcade games at an off-site area at Comic-Con in San Diego this weekend.

3 in a row generic cabs were getting no love: Bravoman, Wonder Momo, & The Legend of Valkyrie. They had LCD monitors & very generic cabs, so I wonder if they were running on MAME(?)

Anyway, I'd never played these arcade versions, so I gave them some love (in a mature & platonic fashion).

Howdy-

174 Japanese NEC PC Engine cards for sale! Yup, 174 HuCards! Almost all have original cases & manuals (sometimes more, like a store wrapper or post card), but a few are loose cards. Pretty much all are in great condition. A few significant wear & condition issues are noted in my tracker spreadsheet--assume that all items with no specific notes on condition are in very good shape--I haven't time to detail or photograph all games.

I'll be using a Google Drive spreadsheet to keep track of the sale, as I'm posting this to several forums & can't manage updates elegantly. I'll copy & paste the complete original spreadsheet contents once here, but I don't plan on updating this post later.

All prices are for cash/check/PayPal gift. Shipping is not included. My preferred shipping method is USPS (buyer's choice on Parcel Select/First Class/Priority) from 91754, paid for by the buyer--any purchases above $100 will be insured, also paid for by the buyer. I'm happy to schedule a meeting in person in the Los Angeles, CA area for any local pickups.

I ask for a $20 minimum buy, please, so that I'm not sending out tons of single games in individual packages to tons of different buyers. I will be favoring buyers who commit to larger purchases.

As an added bonus, I have a small business card ring binder with lots of clear plastic business card sheet inserts, which I used to use to store loose HuCards--I'm open to offers on the binder, or, if somebody makes a big fat purchase, I'll throw this in as a free bonus. It has capacity for about 200 loose HuCards.

Per the spreadsheet, the total cost of all games, if all are sold at my asking prices, is $2,314. I am happy to entertain an offer for the whole banana if somebody wants to score an instant big fat PC Engine collection in one fell swoop!

Thanks!
-Jason

I'm looking into getting an RGB mod on my Top-Loader NES & need a donor SNES multi-out audio/video connector, preferably from a broken SNES. I don't want to cannibalize a working console.

Anybody have a broken SNES?

I put on eBay a Vectrex with a pause button mod that I installed: http://www.ebay.com/itm/160987515206

YouTube video of pause button in action...errr, in inaction, actually!
I also fully tested this Vectrex w/ Test Cart rev 4 (running on the 72-in-1 multicart), & the monitor is adjusted & its controller is tested good.

I have 2-3 more Vectrexes on which I'll perform the same mod then sell. Let's see how this eBay auction goes, and, if anybody else here has interest, we can probably strike up a deal.

I could also perform the mod on somebody's Vectrex, but the cost of shipping it to me & back is probably prohibitive. I'm in the Los Angeles area, if any locals want to discuss a pause button mod deal.

Thanks,
-Jason

PS--I also have miiiiiiint CIB tested Vectrex controller listed: http://www.ebay.com/itm/111027362715

General Gaming / Tube TV recommendation?
12/30/2012, 10:50 PM
Howdy-

I'm looking to pick up a used tube TV, probably 21" in size (not too small but not too heavy to lug upstairs & put in a small bedroom). It needs to have an S-video input, as pretty much all of my consoles are modded for S-video. Stereo inputs & speakers are also required.

Is there any recommendation or standard for a good gaming TV to fit my needs? (For 2600, A8, INTV, TG Duo, NES, SNES, N64, SMS, Gen, Saturn, DC, 3DO, PS1, & PS2).

Thanks,
-Jason

PS--I'm in Los Angeles, in case anybody local has one for sale/trade.

[edit 6/15/12: Thanks for all of the many responses--most of you requested asking prices rather than making offers, so I've updated this post to show my asking prices, based mostly on past sale prices & completed eBay auctions.]

Howdy-

I came across an amazing Craigslist Vectrex package the other day & am reselling many of the items that I bought. I kept some items for myself & swapped some nicer-condition items for those in my collection.

The seller was a well-to-do, educated, clean gentleman who was the original owner of all of these items. He bought them new in 1983/1984, kept most of the receipts (Toys R Us, Covina, CA), kept everything stored clean & safe & dry, & took immaculate care of these items. A man after my own heart... :]

I wanted to put these items up on the forums & boards before they go to eBay. Please make offers--my asking prices are shown below. I have good ideas of the values based on past sales & eBay sales. I'm probably more interested in PayPal than trades, but there's no harm in making trade offers. Here's a multi-tab Google Docs spreadsheet of my current collection. If you have something that I don't, let me know, & maybe we can work out a trade.

I'm getting pretty close-ish to completing my US TG16 TurboChip collection.  I'm looking for the following games (or partial games). I don't collect cardboard boxes, just card, manual, and case (I have plenty of spare sleeves already.). In some cases, I have an incomplete game & would like just the remaining bits, but I'll take a complete copy if that's what's available (and then sell my dupe bits).

Offering cash or trades. At the moment, I have a few dozen TG/PCE games for sale/trade: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?authkey=COv7oLUO&key=0As7-6oT7oyHudDRaSFdGTS1sb29JWk4zSGlQWk9CeGc&hl=en&authkey=COv7oLUO#gid=25

I've recently bought several lots of NEC TurboGrafx16 & PC Engine games & need to purge dozens of dupes.

The list (always kept updated): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?authkey=COv7oLUO&key=0As7-6oT7oyHudDRaSFdGTS1sb29JWk4zSGlQWk9CeGc&hl=en&authkey=COv7oLUO#gid=25

Picture gallery: http://s242.photobucket.com/albums/ff97/infernolab/forsale/pce/?start=all

My preference is to trade for items not in my collection, but I'll also take Paypal (make offers--I use eBay prices as a rough guide for value).  I'm currently collecting more actively for Vectrex, Virtual Boy, & TG16/PCE than other systems, but feel free to offer me just about anything (LEGO is also a valid form of currency for me!).  Preference is given to those who want to make larger transactions.  My collection: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0As7-6oT7oyHudExwNzRrX2ltY1diNnNSN1RxSU1kVWc&hl=en#gid=0

1 - 8 Rare Atari cartridges (OK, OK,  these are actually being sold individually...)

2 - A tested Atari 2600 system with 2 pack-in carts, 2 joysticks, & 1 pair of paddles

3 - A giant lot of 135 Atari game cartridges, 2 boxes & 1 manual

4 - A big ol' lot of 34 boxed Sega Genesis games

5 - A hefty lot of 40 loose Sega Genesis games & 1 manual

6 - A charming lot of 10 Sega CD games

7 - A swell lot of 9 NEC PC Engine Japanese games (6 are complete)

8 - A nice lot of 7 Turbo Grafx TurboGrafx 16 games

9 - A delightful lot of 5 3DO games & 3 manuals

10 - Korean Sega (Samsung) Saturn games (multiple copies of Virtual On, then a soccer game)

Thanks,
-Jason

Howdy-

I'm looking to get my TurboDuo modded for S-video output.  As I understand, the way to go may be to convert it to RGB & then use an RGB->S-Video converter (external or internal).

A few searches didn't reveal any current modders doing this work.  Has anybody a line on a possible modder?  I have a local guy who may be able to do it, but I'd like to shop around & determine the current status of this sort of mod anyway.

Thanks,
-Jason

Howdy-

I'm selling one of my toys from my recent trip to Japan: a Nintendo Famicom clone (Japanese version of the US Nintendo NES) that looks like a shrunken Space Invaders cocktail machine.

New in box, opened only to test & photograph.

Battery operated (!).  One could hack an AC adapter into the battery compartment w/out too much trouble, though.

Comes with Macross cart.

Thanks,

Howdy-

I've finished sorting/testing/IDing my haul of games from Korea & Japan.  I'm keeping the majority, but I have 12 for sale/trade.

Please refer to this thread for pics & numbers: https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=8268.0

#9 Gai Shadow [Hisou Kihei Serd] card only, tested good
#13 Galaga '88 card only, opened, tested good
#55 Super Momo Tarou Dentetsu II opened & complete (except no card pouch) but card is actually Super Momo Tarou Dentetsu (somebody swapped--oops!), tested good

Please make dollar/trade offers--I'm unsure of values.  My current collection list--if you've got any Turbo/PCE items not on my list, I'm likely interested:http://infernolab.com/forsale/vids/Jason's%20Video%20Games.xls

Though I'm new to PCEngineFX, I have feedback in many other places:

Long story short:

When I apply any pressure pretty much anywhere on the rear 2/3 of the large RF shield that covers half of my US Turbo Duo PCB, the system will glitch (solid blue screen on power-up, graphics glitches, freeze, etc. etc.).

Solution: I removed the large RF shield altogether & it's now working perfectly.  I also soldered the 2 ground wires (for CD drive & for power supply) to the small vertical RF shield at the back of the unit.  While posting this, I came across this picture: http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p266/Rockguard/PCEngineDuoTotalCapReplacementRefer.jpg  Hey, my unit looks just like this one now, so perhaps I'm not the 1st person with this problem.

What's the story?

Long story long:

I performed the region mod with an 8PDT switch.  All worked perfectly while the system was decased.  After assembly, the system rarely worked.  I'd usually get a solid blue screen when a card was installed.  CD performance was more consistent, but still not quite right.  I put the 8PDT switch in the same spot as shown here: http://www.multimods.com/images/PCEDuo1b.jpg.  (I decided upon this location on my own--guess it's a popular spot, as it seems to be the only location where this switch can be fit!)

After decasing & recasing many times & realizing that the system worked fine when disemboweled, I figured that I was getting a short in my region mod switch wiring when the case was assembled.  Sure enough, pushing on the switch (while it was sitting on the RF shield) made the system glitch.

Further study revealed that the system glitched not when handling the switch on its own, but when pushing on the RF shield.  Through several experiments, I realized that, when pushing on the RF shield in pretty much any location on its back 2/3, the system would freak.  I tried pushing with a piece of rubber, wondering if I wasn't grounded properly, & the result was the same.  It's pressure, not shorting/grounding.  So, perhaps a cold or cracked solder joint somewhere???

So, I removed the RF shield, grounded the 2 aforementioned wires to the small rear shield, & used the same piece of rubber to push all over on every spot on the PCB itself while the TD was powered.  Not one glitch!  If I had a bad solder joint somewhere, pressing directly on the PCB would cause a glitch.

What gives?

Thanks,
-Jason

Howdy-

Yesterday, I performed (correctly, on my first try, thank you very much!) a region mod on my US Turbo Duo, using an 8PDT switch from Surplus Sales of Nebraska:

http://www.surplussales.com/Switches/SWPushB-3.html

1st column, 6th row

Alas, this product doesn't come with the nut to secure it to a panel (or, in my case, the back of my Duo).  The threads seems to be a non-standard size.  My calipers tell me that it's an M12x0.7 thread, but M12 nuts & bolts come in a 1.75mm pitch.

Anybody have a source for these nuts?

In the meantime, I've got some E-clips that I can use to secure the switch to the panel, but they're not the prettiest or easiest solution...

Thanks,
-Jason

PS--I bought 2 switches, in case I killed the switch during the mod.  Also, shipping was $7 minimum, so I figured I'd buy 2 at $5.50 each & pay shipping just once.  In any case, I'll sell the extra unused switch for $7 shipped anywhere in the US.  (I know, that plug should be in a sales forum--sorry!

Howdy-

About 2 years ago, I responded to a Craigslist ad for a NOS Turbo Express with the capacitors replaced by a TZD/TTi technician, as well as a pile of Turbo Chips.

I bought the lot.  Turns out that this was some of the remaining inventory of TZD/TTi, being sold by Steve Garwood himself, the former owner of TZD & former director of sales of TTi.  The Turbo Chips were ones used by game testers at TTi!

He shipped the Turbo Chips in a keen Turbo Grafx 3-ring binder, with lots of clear sheets with lettered tabs & pouches (baseball card sheets?  business card sheets?).

And, he was kind enough to throw in a small stack of photocopied documents of customer support help line info for the game Dungeon Explorer.  These are papers that the testers & help line people used.  They include maps, passwords, walkthrough info, etc.  A little more detail on the Dungeon Explorer documents: I sorted through them today & there are 41 sheets of paper.  14 are unique--I put those into set 1.  The remaining 4 sets of papers have 13, 5, 5, & 4 sheets to them, & each sheet in set 2-5 is also already included in set 1.  So, sets 2, 3, 4, & 5 are each a different subset of set 1.  Clear as mud?  :)

I'm looking to sell or trade this TG binder, with the Dungeon Explorer documents, pouch sheets & dividers (no Turbo Chips--I'm keeping those!).

Pictures at http://s242.photobucket.com/albums/ff97/infernolab/forsale/tg/

Feel free to make offers!  If you want to spread the love, I could theoretically divvy up the Dungeon Explorer notes 5 ways, unless 1 person wants to horde multiple copies of the same pages.  :)

Thanks!
-Jason

Howdy-

I've got a big stack of PCE games (& 1 Super Grafx game).  Through several searches, I've managed to ID almost all of them.  I'd be very grateful if you folks could confirm my work & fill in the blanks.  Also, I'm trying to get a feel for the value of these games, as I'll likely be selling/trading many of these in the near-ish future (not quite ready to take offers yet, but my ears are certainly open).

Thank you very much,
-Jason

Howdy-

First time poster, long-time Turbo etc. fan.

I spent the last 2.5 weeks in Korea & Japan.

I spent as much time as possible of my Tokyo leg of my trip in Akihabara.  I hit a bunch of stores & bought oodles of PC Engine Hu Cards & CD-ROMs.  I have a black US Turbo Duo already, so I also picked up a cheap white PC Engine to play my stash of Japanese Hu Cards.

I'm having trouble getting it to work, though...

I'm using an AC adapter that claims to put out 9V & 450mA.  It actually puts out ~12V DC unloaded, and it puts out ~10V DC when loaded (as measured by opening the console case & measuring voltage on the power jack tabs that connect it to the PCB).  So, I know that the console's getting power, and hopefully it's not too much voltage or too little current.  What are the acceptable VDC & mA ranges on this system?

For AV, I'm using 1 RCA-style cord with an RCA cable to a coax adapter, direct into my TV (a 1993 JVC TV).  I checked continuity on the cable & it's good on both the inside & outside lines.

I tried playing 2 Japanese Hu Cards & got no video or audio indication of anything happening when I power up the system--no flicker, no flash, no audio crackle, no nuthin'.  I tried tuning my TV to channels 2, 3, & 4, and I tried flipping the console's antenna switch from CH I to II.  What American TV channels are supposed to correspond to I & II on the console?

Got any ideas of what to try?

Thank you very much!
