Joe, please define fuzzy, buzzy, and proper, by your reckoning.  Both the NES and SMS have 2 square wave channels which can sound identical.

That's the best way I can describe NES and PCE sound. I haven't heard much from the NES that sounds like an SMS and certainly nothing from the SMS that sounds like the NES. Usually the NES sounds warmer with a more textured sound. There's not much to that texture, but it's just what I'd describe as fuzzy/buzzy instead of boopy and beepy.

The most lag comes from the deinterlacing, and some tvs are just plainly bad at it.

Good thing it doesn't have to deinterlace at all, then. Just duplicate. Of course even if modern TVs can see a 240p signal, it interlaces them first as it assumes it's 480i, then deinterlaces, then scales.

The problem is that the display must then scale the 480p to its native resolution, adding an extra step of lag and likely poorer quality scaling than, say, a Framemeister. Then there's the issue of a lot of TVs assuming 480p is always widescreen and adding additional horizontal scaling to stretch the image.

I wouldn't say  that I fall into the anti-arpegio camp, but I feel that they can be overused very easily. On ancient videogame hardware it can create kind of a displeasing sound when every note is arped. The Flash for the Master System jumps to mind. I don't remember the music specifically, but I remember not liking it at all. Arping sounds better on medium and lower notes than it does high notes, that's for sure. Systems like the Master System can't do many low notes. Stuff like Golvellius sounds tons better than stuff like The Flash.

I can power mine on and off and it's usually a different color each time, though most often yellow. Like you guys, I do this for hours. It's random and means nothing. I think the Turbo just picks a color to display when it sees voltage. There's no rhyme or reason, just immense entertainment for us lucky Turbo owners.

GI-JOE is there !!! I must say i rather watch the animated gi-joe movie then the live action one.Still the idea for cobra commander origin was a terrible idea.I prefer the comic books take where he was a used car salesmen.

Having Cobra Commander start out as a blue non-human was dumb. Why was his skin caucasian and his eyes human when he wore the hood instead of the helmet? Then he turned into a snake. From what I hear several years after the movie another company started up the cartoon series again and restored Cobra Commander. I have never seen these. Was the animation different looking? The comic always had much better stories. Like when Cobra Commander showed emotion when his son was in a coma at the hospital.

That's absurd. Why limit yourself? I like music regardless of if real instruments create it or chiptunes create it. Good music is good music. And I like a lot of music (except country and probably current mainstream pop).

Don't forget the chunky mode of the Md, it's well suited for pixels manipulation, it's not the case with the PCE and his planar mode .

What is this "chunky" mode you speak of? How are the giant, blocky sprites in El Viento done (explosions, sea creatures, etc)? From my understanding reading some of the things the guy who designed the system has said, the MD/Genesis CAN scale sprites so that they appear bigger/blockier with relative ease, it just can't do the actual enlarging of them (Spite can be seen as 1x, 2x, 4x etc but not be seen transitioning between 1x and 4x or whatnot). Of course clarifications on this would be appreciated.

I didn't even know about this game. I just went ahead and bought the physical copy. Shipping is almost as much as the game which is great. Honestly I don't remember picking a shipping option so I probably accidentally selected same-day or something. Oh well. I guess the bank won't be getting a house payment this month. No, mine came with a fruit roll-up as well. I told the guy at EB to throw it away and initially he didn't want to. I had a hard time convincing him to toss it but he eventually did. Now my copy will never be 100% complete.

I think the shadow effect on that level of Magical Chase is very poor. I mean technically the effect is good... it's just wrong. A shadow would not travel WITH the foreground. It would be stationary against the background. That is assuming it's the player that's moving and not the foreground itself. But even then, the shadow would be smaller than the foreground and should not scroll as fast. The developers did not understand how perspective works.

I also have a 2008 Honda Civic. But it's a coupe, not a sedan. And a manual transmission. I've probably already posted somewhere in this thread about it. 100% paid off. That's my favorite feature.

Thanks, I'll give Liquid CD a try. Toast Titanium takes FOREVER to burn a disc with data audio tracks (ie CUE/BIN) and it's rarely perfect. I usually just use IMG BURN on Windows running virtually on my Mac.

I don't mean to be argumentative but what ps3 sticks don't work with ps4?

I have a USB Saturn pad (Generic, not specifically for PS3). The build quality is actually nearly as good if not as good as a real Sega Saturn pad. Works great with fighting games on PS3. Will NOT work with PS4 because they changed something for some dumb reason. Won't work with fighting games on the Xbox 360 either. That's one thing I hate about consoles that PC's clearly win on (besides graphics). You can use your own USB controllers. Fuck you if you wanna play on a console.
