10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Quote from: Necromancer on 04/09/2018, 10:28 AMIt's $26.99 on PlayAsia, plus whatever they charge for shipping.  Maybe that'll be better for ya, toaks.

The book looks cool (there's even a blurb on the PCE-LD1), but so many moon runes.  I'm not keen on spending my pennies on a picture book.
Thanks NecroPhile! I'll definitely consider it now!

You can just buy it on ebay.
Yea I might. Only thing is they are 2 to 4 times the price.

Quote from: Joe Redifer on 04/03/2018, 04:53 AMAnyone having issues running games ripped by TurboRip? I ripped two games (Ys IV translated and Castlevania Rondo of Blood Translated) from discs I have (the later was given to me at a con I think). I get LOAD ERROR no matter what. Can anyone recommend a good ripping program that will rip to BIN/CUE? The SD3 seems to like that.
I used TurboRip to rip all my games and so far they have worked great.

Quote from: toaks on 03/12/2018, 09:07 PMI'm using a Turboripped copy of Neo Nectaris. When I use the ingame sound menu, cd track 25 is a much lower volume than the rest of the tracks, and track 26 and up do not play. Is this the same on an original copy or do I  have a bad rip? Thanks!
I tried a real CD and I can't get anything past 25 as well.. maybe 25 is simply the last track?  As far as volume it doesn't sound a whole lot lower to me aside from the natural recording of it. Then again I only tried it on a low grade CRT with a single mono speaker. :)

On another note.. are you able to get past the intro animation on your ripped copy? On my ripped copies I have to use a password to play stage 1 else it freezes on the intro movie. It plays 100% fine otherwise. Only on the real disc am I able to start the game from stage 1 naturally through the intro movie.

Oh and this is on a real Duo..  on emulator all discs (burned and original) play fine.
Hey just a quick update for you NE146. I tried loading the rip on the Super SD System 3 that wouldn't get past the intro video on my Duo. It loads perfectly! I don't know what is preventing it from working on the Duo but yea it works great on the SsdS3.

EDIT:
Thanks for this update.

Thanks for the info. Some of these games look awesome!

I have played a few translations. I wish there were more of them!!

Any recommendations as to which ones are good?

Hello. Kinda new to the PC Engine. What are some of the best home brew titles and where can I buy them, or download them if they are free.

Quote from: SignOfZeta on 03/13/2018, 08:20 PMThis is driving me nuts for some reason. I wish I had the game to test this.
Me too man, me too. lol

Yea what's crazy, is if you put the cd in a computer, you can listen to tracks 26-30. They are valid music tracks, but they are silent in the music test menu. Not sure whats up. If you click on the cd in explorer though, all it shows on the disc is a 1kb Track01.cda. Don't know if that's normal with Turbo CD's, or maybe I didn't burn it correctly? It does not load the intro video on my Duo either but plays normally on emulators. Will have to test it on the Super SD System 3 when it gets here. Thanks for checking your original for me NE146. Greatly appreciated!

LOL. Nicely said!!

Yea I have to say it showed up clean on my system. I scanned for virus and malware and both looked good. Not sure what he was referring to.

That said, I'll try to check on this. The utility you cited has been known to include malware so there is no telling. Shoot me a PM and I'll let you know what I find.
I know. lol. I'm just using it to look for any glitches on the Super SD System 3 with a Supergrafx. Just trying to see if its the game itself, the rip, or the device.

That will fix most of them, but some are exact matches including the leadout. Maybe it would be possible to list all matching toc's and then the user could indicate which one they are ripping?

For anyone that was hesitant on ordering a SSDS3, I would say go for it. The Terraonion team has proven themselves as a company, at least in my eyes. There were initial very minor problems with the Neosd when it was first released. The problems were fixed for EVERYBODY including the early adopters. The NeoSD is now 100% compatible.

As far as the SSDS3, the team immediately halted shipping units upon hearing of the problems. They have since released a statement apologizing for the mistake they made. They worked with some experts and revised the circuit boards to correct the video and audio issues. Those issues have been corrected. They have also basically recalled all currently released devices, and are replacing them to EVERYBODY. Any issues with games are being addressed in firmware so I fully expect the device will be 100% compatible over time with firmware updates.

This company has a great track record of correcting any issues that come up. They don't leave early adopters with faulty devices, they make sure the fix the problems for everyone. I have full confidence in the team. I have ordered both devices, and will continue to support them in the future. If they make a product you are interested in, order one with confidence. If a problem arises, they have proven they will do their best in correcting it and making every customer happy.

Wow thanks for all the info everyone. Seeing that advertisement took me back to my teenage years looking thru gaming mags.

Quote from: guest on 01/18/2018, 06:30 PMSettle down, zeta.  He means the ISO downloads and not "Please, Tobias.  Please, sir, allow me buy your fancy shit!"

Google "force gear pc engine iso" or "twinbee returns pc engine iso" and the first few results all have it available for download.... or so I assume.  I didn't try to download 'em all to see if the links are still active, but most of those big iso sites are pretty good about keeping stuff up and running.
Thanks NecroPhile! Appreciate the help!
#23
The link is coming up dead for me.
#24
Any chance we might get another chance to get this?
#25
Ok thank you. That's what I was thinking.
#26
I was wondering if it was ever released as a standalone disc or just in the 4-in-1 disc?
#27
OK cool. I wasn't really looking for Laseractive, just Turbografx/PCEngine HuCards, CD's and the Supergrafx HuCards. Thanks for the help guys!
#28
Thanks for the link, that's great! Do you know if the lists are complete?
#29
I am looking for a complete and accurate release list for not only HuCards but also CD titles for both Turbografx and PCEngine? I know Wikipedia has a list, but I am finding some of the listings are not accurate. I am thinking about starting a list like this, but I don't want to go thru the effort if one is already available. I know we have the PCEngine Software Bible site, but I'm looking for just a text list separated by region as more of a quick reference or checklist. Thanks for any info.
#30
Thanks for the reply. Yea I am hoping to get one at a good price.

Buy/Sell/Trade / Looking for a supergrafx

Hello all. I'm looking to pick up a Supergrafx in good condition. I'm not really sure what they are going for at the moment but the EBay prices seem a bit high. Anyone with some input about pricing or an offer would be appreciated.
#32
Can't wait for this!!

NEC Console Resource / Hello

Hello all. I'm a new member to these forums and new to the Turbografx/Pc Engine world. I recently purchased a Pc Engine Duo thru EBay from another member of this forum! He answered a lot of questions for me and helped get me going in the right direction. I currently have a Turbo Everdrive and am looking forward to building a decent collection of Hu card and cd games! I look forward to talking with you all and getting to know everyone. Thanks for your time!
#36
Darn I was on the last dungeon of Neutopia! Oh well.
#37
I would be interested if there are any left, or if there are any future releases. Just got a Pc Engine Duo and would like to start building a collection.
#38
The Turbo Everdrive v2 works fine on my region modded Pc-Engine Duo. Not sure about the v1 however.
