It can't directly save to the cartridge from within a game for one thing. If you have KoF or back in the day wanted to use the netlink there was another. Try playing Panzer Dragoon Saga US with that thing in.
So far none of those things have required me to take the cart out, especially the netlink adapter.  In the past 5 years, I've needed that a total of zero times.

Just remember, Saturn cartridge slot reliability is like that of a grade A egg after playing catch using a slingtshot at 30 yards away.
I just leave mine in there at all times. No need to remove it, and I've never had any issues.

I enjoyed this episode.  I used to play Die Hard Trilogy on PS1 for hours on end.  I probably enjoyed the light gun portion of the game more than anything else, although the driving portion of part 3 was also fun as it was the closest thing to an open world game that I had ever seen back then.

Quote from: Winniez on 05/19/2017, 03:37 PMMario Kart 8 had like 70% attach rate with WiiU. I'm fairly sure we will see more enchanced WiiU ports. A slate of quality software that relative few people got to experience.
Although with less than 15 million Wii Us sold, that 70% attach rate still leaves MK8 as the 3rd worst selling Mario Kart game (behind Super Circuit and Double Dash!!).  I think that's the main reason why Nintendo can get away with releasing a Deluxe version of MK8 instead of an all new game....... for the majority of gamers out there, it is an all new game.

Quote from: guest on 05/16/2017, 09:58 AMI think a lot of 'em got started collecting before LRG, back when the entire US library was ~120 titles and most were easy to find and relatively cheap.  That's a pretty dumb primary reason to get a full set, I guess, and now with LRG (and others) it's got one heck of a lot more tedious and expensive.
I'm seeing the same thing happen with the Wii U.  Since the library is so small (around 150) people see an opportunity to get a full set without spending the kind of money that it takes to get something like a full NES set.  I've seen people get super excited to find out a Wii U game has been canceled because it's one less game they have to get.

Same goes for LRG.  I know some people only care about the full set.  While I doubt anyone would admit it openly, I guarantee you that there are a few people who secretly want LRG to fold and out out of business so that there will be no future releases, and they full set can become "official."

I would keep it since you aren't going to get much for it anyways.  Games for the Wii are super cheap right now, so it's the time to pickup some of the really fun games for the system.  While the Wii has arguably the worst ratio of shovelware to total game library of any home console, it still has some great stand out titles.  Plus it's the cheapest way to play GameCube games through component.

Awesome video.  This was probably my favorite video game generation, or at least the one I have the most memories of.  I was definitely a PS1 guy during that time, but even back then I would have happily owned a Saturn if I had the funds to own more than one console at a time, but such things were pretty unheard of back then.

Yep, same here. I haven't looked a guides, and have avoided spoilers my best, but the zeitgeist discussion of discoveries in this game has been a fun element, so I've involved myself in discussions on the forums I frequent. I also heard of the 13 heart thing, so I followed up and went to lost woods when I got my 13th heart. Fun stuff so far, enjoy the woods!
Thanks.

While I'm avoiding guides and spoilers, I actually enjoy the forum discussions and reading about how people have accomplished the same thing in different ways, so I don't mind picking up on a few hints that way.  Also, the fact that there are so many different ways to accomplish the same thing is probably my favorite aspect of the game so far.
I got the master sword last night.  The Lost Woods wasn't too difficult.  I made it through with only 3 mistakes.  The funny thing was, that I never did actually figure out what I did right.  I just kind of guessed my way through.  But I unlocked the shrine in the forest which will allow me to fast travel in and out of the forest.  Anyway, with 13 hearts and the master sword, I'm going to focus more on the main quest and start finishing the other 3 Divine Beasts.

Quote from: guest on 03/21/2017, 01:39 PMI've only killed the Gerudo and Zora Lynels so far. I hear the one in the Collisseum is the hardest/most durable.
I killed the one in the Collisseum, then climed to the top of the Collisseum and was scouting where to go next, and then the blood moon hit and he respawned before my eyes. It was pretty danm discouraging.

This game is a marvel in game intuitive game design, have you guys done the lost woods yet? I had a hard time initially, and almost googled the solution; but the success rate of experimentation in this game up to that point encouraged me to try new things, and surely enough a couple experimental attempts lead me to the solution.

Still consistently surprising and fun.
I didn't realize the blood moon respawned the mini bosses.  I thought they stayed dead and only the regular enemies came back.  Good to know.  I once had a blood moon hit me during the middle of a battle with a group of enemies in their camp.  I had killed about half of them, but I was under powered at the time and in a little over my head, so that wasn't much fun.

Quote from: BigusSchmuck on 03/20/2017, 09:40 PMKilled my first Lynel last night. Holy shit those things are hard. Was doing the Zora quest thingy. Burned through most of my weapons and destroyed my knights shield. :/ Was pleasantly surprised on how difficult this game can be. The fact that if I missed my block even once that thing would kill me in one hit. I realized after I killed him that it wasn't a requirement for the shock arrow quest...
Yeah, I died a lot before I realized I could just pick up the arrows and ignore him.

So far for me, the Lynel is the most intimidating enemy in the game.  I've ran into 4 so far and I've avoided them all, but it's my goal to eventually take them out.

I really enjoyed this week's video.

I think an interesting idea for a future video would be series that faced a franchise killer, only to eventually recover many years later and survive.  One example off the top of my head would be Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness.  That game nearly killed off the Tomb Raider franchise and it took nearly 3 years to recover with Tomb Raider Legend.  Others here brought up Bomberman which had a few flops, but still managed to survive.

Did the eventide last night, took 3 tries....was a blast.
I figured there was a way to get it from him before he woke up, but my attempts never worked, so I just fought him to the death.  AFTER I finished the island, I looked up a few tricks and saw that you could do what you suggested.  That sure would have been easier, but I'm trying not to use any guides if possible.

Yeah, the island was super fun regardless of the method used to finish it.

About 23 hours into it and I feel I've only scratched the surface.  There is still a massive portion of the map I haven't even visited yet.  I absolutely love the exploration aspect of it.  I hate cooking in real life, but I actually enjoy it in game.  I enjoy trying out different combinations, but I refuse to use any guides yet.  I don't mind the fact that weapons break, but I wish they lasted a little longer.  I've tamed two horses, but I find that I really don't want to ride them when I'm exploring.  I'm upgrading my heart twice for each increase in stamina because I've ran into very few places that I couldn't climb up to.

Spoiler (sort of):
Check out the island at the south east corner of the map.  There is a really fun trial that awaits you on the island.  It took me two nights to finish it, but it was really fun.

Another spoiler:
My best advice is to upgrade your bombs as soon as you can.  The faster regeneration makes a lot of difference.

Also, I was happy to see Lost in Shadow included.  I bought it a while back for a few bucks at GameStop and just never gout around to trying it.  It really seems like my type of game.

For some reason that game (Shadow of the Colossus) never quite clicked with me. Maybe time I revisit it.  :-k

I loved Ico, though. Right up there, for me, with the best games I've played on the PS2.
I know some folks hated the dragging/pulling mechanic between the characters. I didn't mind it at all.

Speaking of,

Found my game save.

Can't believe it's been that long since I last played it. Going to remedy that, pronto! :p
While SOTC is easily in my top 10 games of all time, I still think Ico is the better game.  I've had a goal lately of trying to platinum trophy both games on the PS3.  Sadly, I don't think I'll ever finish the hard time trial mode on SOTC.  I can finish the game on hard no problem,  but not with the time limits.  I'm about to go back to Ico.  Only missing a few trophies there.

I prefer auto racing over any other regular sport.  Out of all forms of auto racing, I find NASCAR to be the most interesting with F1 as a close second.  With that said, I don't follow either much anymore as I just don't have the time to watch it.  I don't have much time to watch any sports these days.  I went to my first Cardinal game in over a year last night, not because I don't want to go anymore, but I just don't have the free evenings to do it.

As far as NASCAR being the largest spectator sport, I don't know if it still applies today, but I can say for sure that back at it's peak (around 2002 to 2007), it was definitely the biggest spectator sport in the country.  Back then I didn't have anything to do on my Sundays, so I would watch most of the races.  And I've been to enough races to tell you that it's no more of a redneck experience then going to any profession football game (especially if you include the tailgate experience).

I miss my diesel.  I just sold it last year since I didn't have the time on the weekends to keep fixing stuff (just on the car, the engine itself was rock solid).

I bought my diesel when I was driving my truck 30k miles a year at 14 mpg when gas was over $3.00 a gallon.  You can do the math.  The VW TDI paid for itself a few times over.  The only reason I didn't replace it with another diesel was due to the fact that I don't drive nearly as many miles per year.

I wouldn't consider any of those to need replacing frequently.
On a modern car, 60,000k for front brake, longer for rear. If a hybrid, way longer on both. Spark plugs are 100k usually, batteries are usually warenteed for 5-7 years. Most new car owners won't have the car when this stuff comes due.
I agree.  I just replaced the original front and rear rotors and pads on my truck.  It had 95k miles on it at the time.  I never even once had to turn the rotors (and I'm pretty picky about my rotors - I will turn them if I even notice the slightest bit of warping)
