I dont think Jackie Chan gets talked enough. I love it on both the PCE and Famicom. One of my favorite games ever. Great graphics, music and gameplay. I love the pixelart. And nice use of parallax scrolling too!
RIP to BT Garner of MindRec.com... He passed away early 2023 from health problems. BT was one of the top PCE homebrew developers and founder of the OG Turbo List, then PCECP.com. Condolences to family and friends. |

I put them both in the 8.0-8.5 range; great games, but not my favorite of the series. Of the classic games, I think I lean toward the NES original and Super Castlevania IV, even if the latter feels like a bit of a one-off.Really, you would score them that close to each other? Richter on SNES feels like a broken man, compared to its PCE counter part. The PCE Richter is so smooth and fast in comparison. That alone gives the PCE game a big edge IMHO. Then you add the better level design, cd music and just more assets and content all over the place... i cant help but give the PCE game at least a full point over the SNES game. At least...
Quote from: Windcharger on 11/01/2017, 07:58 AMI like the way you think... but at what point do you get to port the Arcade Contras to the PCE?Quote from: guest on 10/29/2017, 02:24 PMOf course. Purely from a graphics point of view I think you could get decent results although you'd be looking at some rather harsher contrast. Looking at sprite sheets, the colour count isn't greatly out of the PCE's reach. But it's a fun experiment.Indeed it is fun, which is why I still plan on porting it someday to the Super Grafx Arcade CD-ROM2 System, because the world needs an "SGXACD"! (Although I'm working on Mega Man X for straight PCE first as a learning experience. )
Quote from: turboswimbz on 09/30/2017, 08:33 PMLOL, that one was worth the thread, hehe.Quote from: guest on 09/30/2017, 01:20 PMTHIS. THIS made me laugh.Quote from: SignOfZeta on 09/30/2017, 01:15 PMIt could do a version of Alpha 2 that was as good as Mk on GG. I'll buy that, but that would have been severely below expectations at the time.Yeah, but I think PC-FX would have had the best SF dating sim.
Imagine the Ken/Ryu sub arc.
Quote from: guest on 09/28/2017, 03:54 PMThe SuperGrafx with the load space of the PC-FX could do an "arcade perfect" port of SFZ2, aside from color. But a PC-FX version could use PC-FX hardware for most or all of the background with authentic looking color and the sprites would look close enough using PCE/SGX graphics/color.Really?, the SGX by itself could do that?!. Pretty impressive. You dont think the RAM configuration of the PCFX would be an issue at all, for a game like SFZ2?
The PC-FX isn't a 2D powerhouse by PSX/Saturn standards, but is better than 3DO and 32X.
Quote from: guest on 08/20/2017, 08:44 PMI couldn't find any stage or sprite rips from Samurai Showdown during a quick search, so I can't do a mockup, but the PCE is the perfect 16-bit console to do a good-for-consoles version of the game. The PCE can do pretty much any horizontal resolution between its minimum and maximum. So you could have the entire width of the stage visible at all times. It might mean that Earthquake doesn't make the cut, but it would still be a nice addition to fighting games for proper consoles.Sounds pretty cool. Hope you can get those Samurai Shodown mockups done.
Quote from: SignOfZeta on 08/12/2017, 09:41 PMYeah and load times, i am afraid, would be even worse on PCE AC than on PS1. And KOFs on Neo CD are almost unplayable, and that system has 7MB of RAM!, no comparison. I had a NeoCD, KOF looked and sounded great, but loading times totally crippled the games and other late generation titles. The Neo CD was fine for ports of early Neo games. PS1 and Neo CD ports of KOF were getting mediocre to bad reviews,Quote from: saturndual32 on 08/12/2017, 01:20 AMWould love to have a King Of Fighters game on PCE, but the game has to load 6 characters for the matches, thats beyond the capabilities fo even the Arcade Card. Having long loading times between rounds would totally break the game. Maybe if they simplified it to 1 on 1 matches. Would still be pretty cool.1) You don't need six chara in RAM at a time with KOF unless it's 2003, which is the only one with full tag available. Load times *are* murder, but that didn't stop Playstations version of KOF from selling very well. Also, have you heard of Neo CD? It has KOF 94-99.
And would love to have seen Last Resort on the PCE. Would be a nice substitute to RType 2, which the PCE should also have received.
Samurai Spirits for sure, dont mind missing the zooming effect. The effect used on the Art of Fighting port would do fine.
2) why even play Samshow without scaling? It loses all of its atmosphere. Just say Last Blade.
Quote from: guest on 07/03/2017, 12:08 PMQuote from: saturndual32 on 07/02/2017, 11:39 PMMetal Gear Solid 2Man, if they could've ported a PS2 game from the future onto PCE, that would have been the tits.
lol.
durrrrrr
<3
really though, MG2 on PCE would've owned. The soundtrack would've been about the same, but in stereo.
The PCE could have easily handled that game, too. It might have actually been easier to write on the PCE vs. MSX.
Quote from: Psycho Arkhan on 01/31/2017, 09:53 PMSunset Riders in space!!!!Quote from: guest on 01/31/2017, 07:43 PMI am not a fan of the more classic score based games Arkhan has favored so far, but if this does happen and is nearly as much fun as I find Rolling Thunder, I will be in.Don't think of it so much as a "score based" game though. Think maybe more like E-Swat, too.
any of those slightly more slower paced, but still actiony shooters.
Quote from: ParanoiaDragon on 01/12/2017, 03:27 AMYeah, i wonder what type of effect the Mega CD used on that same scene.Quote from: guest on 01/11/2017, 06:14 PMWow, the PCE version is alot cooler looking then the standard zoom in effect!Quote from: Digi.k on 01/11/2017, 05:45 PMWhat the heck is going on here?
Quote from: CGQuarterly on 12/22/2015, 02:20 PMLOL. You got me, hehe.Quote from: elderbroom on 12/20/2015, 11:06 PMThat has to be the shiniest TE i've ever seen. Did you lube the damn thing up ?Maybe he Armor-All'ed it.
Quote from: CGQuarterly on 11/24/2015, 04:11 PMI don't think it got ugly. I think you're being pretty reasonable in your attitude. I personally don't like the whole "offers" thing because you aren't selling anything that is so rare that it's value is semi-unknown. You can look on eBay or PriceCharting to at least get an idea of a starting price, or you can literally post the list of games here and ask us to tell you what a fair price would be for each. When you yourself aren't sure the value of your stuff, "listening to offers" is a bad idea because you could be getting lowballed and not know it, which is why I doubt that most people like yourself ACTUALLY don't know what their stuff is worth. You just don't want to list prices because maybe someone will offer you more than you would have asked. For instance, if I had a spare loose Splatterhouse HuCard, I would probably price it at about $25. But apparently by not pricing it, I could get $40...I appreciate the advice. Thanks.
Quote from: GohanX on 11/24/2015, 02:29 PMThis crap would be avoided if you just listed prices to begin with.Yeah, i do realise that NOW, hehe. Sorry, i see the "Listening to offers" stuff often in other forums and tought i would give it a shot... and quickly got offers for Neutopia 2 and Splatterhouse, so i tought it was fine. I didnt think i would get this reaction. Dont usually sell stuff myself, more of a buyer, hehe.
Quote from: 780racer on 11/24/2015, 01:17 PMI accept the criticism, and see were you guys are coming from.Quote from: CGQuarterly on 11/24/2015, 12:14 PM$55 is on the high end of eBay for a loose Splatterhouse huey. This guy is just a gouger looking to avoid paying eBay fees.*Grabs Pitch fork, and popcorn*
I don't agree with looking at Ebay as a "Guide" and then just knocking off 5 bucks from the "Trending" price. But..... It is not my place to call you out, and bitch at you.
Quote from: CGQuarterly on 11/24/2015, 12:14 PM$55 is on the high end of eBay for a loose Splatterhouse huey. This guy is just a gouger looking to avoid paying eBay fees.I sold Splatterhouse for 40 dollars, plus 5 dollars of shipping. Not exactly Ebay pricing. Dont know much about TG16 pricing, thats why i said i would take offers. I was offered 40 for Splatterhouse, and 60 for Neutopia 2, here on the forum. I charged 5 dollars for each games shipping. Are those prices too high?. Buyers seemed ok with it.
Quote from: Groover on 11/23/2015, 10:16 PMHow Much do you want for Air Zonk? Listening for price.Maybe 55 dollars?
Quote from: grache on 11/23/2015, 11:12 PMWhoa, is a loose Splatterhouse really going for $55 pcefx? Not accusing you of gouging, but if so, prices have gone up a lot since I last checked.I did sell Splatterhouse for a little less than 55 dollars, though. 55 dollars is what i saw Splatterhouse trending on Ebay. Wasnt really looking to get what they go for on Ebay, though. Just used it as an example.
Quote from: Groover on 11/16/2015, 11:31 PMWhat do you mean on hold? Did you sell it then just update the OP. Also just ask for what you want here. Also remember they are loose games and this is not ebay.Hi. By on hold, i meant that i was currently working a deal with a forum member. Sorry for the confusion. Anyway, Splatterhouse is now sold.
Quote from: VenomMacbeth on 11/16/2015, 12:09 PMWhere's Air Zonk?Oops. It was inside the Turbo Express that i am also selling right now, when i took that pic. Here goes the Air Zonk pic.
Quote from: guest on 11/11/2015, 10:22 PMCome on you have a price in mind if your listening to offers... Spill it!I dont know much about Turbografx 16 pricing. I see Air Zonk, cart only, trending on EBay at 80 dollars. So 65 dollars for Air Zonk, maybe?

But more on that later
Quote from: elmer on 08/10/2015, 07:43 PMI dont think the SGX would be up to it, but the PC FX should be capable of a pretty nice port Osman...would be AWESOME!!!!!Quote from: guest on 08/10/2015, 07:33 PMOK who wants to volunteer to port Osman to the Stupid Card? The game's name is even printed on the boardThat's my goal!
But sorry regular PCE guys ... I'm only interested in targeting the SuperGrafx and/or PC-FX.

Quote from: TailChao on 11/13/2014, 09:20 AMAll I can say is that it's an action game, 2MB large, and some things from Zaku will make an appearance.LOL!, you dont sound ike a jerk at all, your position is understandable. And anyways, anyone who can make a game of the audio-visual quality, gameplay and charm of Zaku, for a super cool system like the Lynx, can act like a jerk whenever he wants, in my book .
There is no hidden METAL GEAR?! behind my avatar .
(Seriously though- I'll announce it when it is done. Not trying to be a jerk and dangle a carrot, since I've wanted to release a trailer for the past two years. But it is much easier to manage this way).
