QuoteThe story behind it: nfgworld.com/1003-Queensland-Flood-NFG-s-Story
Our house was hit hard by the flood, and we lost most of everything we owned.  I don't want to talk that up too much, I'm not looking for sympathy.  We're probably doing very well, all things considered.  We have family close by, we have a place to stay, we got four Pajero-loads of stuff out, including the important stuff: us, computers, important documents.  There was a brief period where we prioritized the rest of it, but it very quickly became a matter of simply loading whatever's closest to the door.  Some stuff we saved we're glad we did, some stuff we wonder why we bothered when so much other better stuff was left behind.  But there wasn't time to sort it out.

What a sad, sad sight.  Even with insurance, I hope he tries to salvage some of those goodies or at least sends me that copy of Hi-Leg Fantasy.

Man... that's really sad   Im sure a lot of it can be cleaned though.  Its sad seeing some of the rare boxes and stuff get permanently destroyed though...

Virtually all of the hardware could be fixed with some (a lot) of effort. Mud doesn't hurt chips unless they are running underwater or something.

Obviously anything paper is garbage however.

I'm sure the HuCards would work perfectly though, and have their screen print lables still in tact because, you know, Obey!

My condolences on your loss :( Sounds like that was one scary situation.

I just wanted to chime in with SignOfZeta and say that probably most of those systems (and games) should be usable with some cleaning. Just dismantle any of the systems and run them through a dish washer with a mild dish soap. Let them dry for 2 days to make certain they're fully dry, then reassemble. It would be a LOT of work, but you should be ready to rock after that  :D

Hucards should clean off easily too...maybe put them all in a load of the dish washer as well... Never tried that, but I can't see how it could hurt them.

Fortunately, as long as electronics aren't running at the time, they can get wet or muddy and it won't ruin them.

Good luck with the clean up, and glad you made it out safely!

Before the flood he should have sold me everything for $299.  The result would have been the same... he would have lost everything.  But he would have $299 and I'd have some cool stuffs.  The world would be an overall happier place.

If you mean with "your loss" and "you made it" etc. my humble self, so I can calm you down, because I'm just the guy who posted the sad link I have found in an other Forum :)

I think that these pix are from youtube user screw attack europe.  I remember seeing the video of this a few months back, he's a cool guy, and it's totally shit that this happened...

He told me it was mainly from one leaky spot on a roof, and it went on for a while- and when he went to check on his stuff... bang.  Mud on everything....

Josh and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner (extortion/blackmail!), never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

So he either had a ton of dirt on his roof or his storage room was utterly filthy.  Weird.

The story mentioned it was in Queensland (NE Australia). which just went through some crazy floods in the past couple weeks.

NFG

All of that stuff was lost on Tuesday last week.  It's all insured, so I don't really have the option of cleaning and keeping it.  Even if I felt like spending an hour or more on every console, I'd only end up with a rusty scratched up system that would make me cringe every time it locked up or failed to boot.  And none of it's particularly rare.

It's all stuff I took years and years to gather, of course, and I'd really prefer it wasn't ruined by muddy water, but that's life innit?  I'll take my insurance money and run, to collect it another day.

Sure gonna miss some of it.  I'll likely never replace those magazines, and I designed my wedding invitations on the TT030.
Please stop confusing your opinion with fact.

JoshTurboTrollX

sorry, my bad I thought these pix were from the same occurrence of flooding/gaming collection damage as seen in this video-

youtu.be/QcPaa295Lhg (lost)

Sorry for the loss.

Not to make light of your situation, but it's a shame you didn't have some of those PLASTIC CASES someone here was yammering about a couple weeks back. You know, because if you kept everything in plastic cases none of your shit would have gotten wet since plastic cases are flood-proof and all.

Hey :)

The worst part of this entire incident, in my eyes, is the loss of your Nectaris 3DS prototype cartridge.

Good luck ;)
