No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! Isn't that the point of that slang, to bring a casual tone to a discussion after going into detail about something?



A phrase that makes me uncomfortable when people use it locally is "cheers" in place of thank you. If I was visiting the UK it wouldn't seem weird, but most of the people I hear using it have a North American accent and vocabulary.
ya i use "anyways" a lot  <<blush>> mainly to switch to other info or  thoughts which usually follows with a meaty run on sentence :P

I unintentionally use anyways a lot too, but I can't stand this trend these days of saying "so..." at the end of a sentence! If the sentence is done with, end it!

Another slang that is becoming popular which I'm not a fan of is "creeper" used as a verb. People talk about "creepers" who are "creepering" them.

I'm pretty good at just breathing and mentally dealing with words I don't like, but this one drives me up a wall. It's not more economical to pronounce or write, it's not different or more precise in meaning, it's not more formal or polite, or more casual. It's just something people say in an attempt to make whatever they're saying sound "smart". It makes me want to stab them in the neck with a pencil.

Also, when I was in high school, I passionately hated "what's up, yo?". Ironically, I have a student here in Japan named Yo, and I've caught myself saying this phrase a couple of times.

Ugh...Boss.  What with my living smack dab in the depths of the south, I hear that one a lot.  Something hilarious, there's a head shop ran by a middle-eastern guy & even he calls me "boss."  Hearing somebody call you "boss" in that accent is pretty hilarious.  Does that make me a bad person?

It's automatic ignore if I see someone type that word instead of spelling please correctly.  It's only 3 more letters and online gaming is not like text messaging, short hand typing isn't needed.

I think somewhere, sometime, "please" became "plox". I do not know why this terrible mutation has occured.

But I will admit to using it sometimes though, in non-serious context ofc. Writing it as "pl0x" makes you seem even cooler and educated.
