I rewatched my Director's Cut of "Tropic Thunder" on DVD the other night and was reminded of what made it one of the greatest movies ever. Most might not realize that Tom Cruise was in this Ben Stiller directed Comedy (featuring a pretty all star cast, Jack Black, Matthew McConaughey, Danny McBride, Nick Nolte) because he wasn't credited till way later in the Credits roll and his character "Les Grossman," an angry, big-time, movie producer was aged to an older bald guy. Worth sharing, and I insist you see the movie if you missed it. Should have you in stitches throughout. Most notable was Robert Downey Jr. playing a black guy which while a little risque was funny as all f--k!

It's weird his crediting was low profile, right ?? His name should've been somewhere in the main list you see on the movie posters. I looked at the poster copy on imdb and it's not there... Either they wanted to have you wondering about who Les Grossman is or they snubbed him a bit for PR reasons perhaps ?? Weird... Yeah, he's been a little whacky since the Oprah thing, but he's still a big box office draw, don't think his name prominently attached to the project would've hurt it.

A representative for Cruise stated: "Mr. Cruise's appearance was supposed to be a surprise for his fans worldwide. Paparazzi have ruined what should have been a fun discovery for moviegoers."

So it was like an intentional Easter Egg. "Hey, who's that crazy guy ?? Don't he look like Tom Cruise ?? WTF ??"

Cruise was initially set to cameo as Stiller's character's agent, Rick Peck. Instead, Cruise suggested adding a studio head character, and the idea was incorporated into the script. Stiller and Cruise worked together to create the new character, Les Grossman, as a middle-aged businessman. The role required that Cruise don a fatsuit, large prosthetic hands, and a bald cap.[4][24] It was Cruise's idea to give the character large hands and dance to "Low".[30] Stiller intended to keep Cruise's role a secret until the film's release.

Pretty interesting, most of the idea of this character was thanks to Cruise.
