10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

IMGI was traveling out of town for two weeks. I picked up some cool stuff both while traveling and had some nice stuff waiting for me when I got home.

I've never actually seen the show but my Dad used to always sing "Roger Ramjet he's our man the hero of our nation. For his adventures you should stay tuned to this station".

I would play WonderSwan if it had a backlight screen, same with the NGPC. I have a ton of games for it, but I don't like how I have to stay by a light source in order to see anything.

Well that explains everything! My new FDS must be a pedofile. It does that same thing for Zelda 2!

Nice!  I got Bravely Default the other day too!  The bonus stuff is pretty nice, and I like the way they kind of make like a try to hide the artbook in it all.  The book feel totally reminds me of the Kingdom Hearts LE they did a couple years back.  My only qualm is that it's not a full soundtrack, since the soundtrack is pretty awesome!

I had preordered 2 copies to hedge my bets (one from BB and one from GS) and neither one was too horribly dinged so I was pretty happy.  Managed to sell the extra on Craigslist for a $10 profit instead of just returning it too, yay!

Was traveling out of state and when meeting up with Munchiaz, hit an indepedent game store where I found the Famicom "New Ghostbusters 2". It's different than the US NES Ghostbusters II. Pretty good game actually, it also came out for NES in PAL territories.

I got it off ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/360795733989

Chinese seller but it didn't take too long (about a week) to get here, I put in a best offer of $10 and he accepted.

Right now it is a bit of an experiment because I fully charged a pair last night, then installed them in a VMU and dated it.  I'm going to turn it on every day and see how long they last in there since it think the mA on these is less than a regular 2032.  It will also be nice to put in my Saturn as well and the Sega CD can also use LIR2032s as replacements.

Yup!  I played around with it last night and it's kind of a cool visualizer.  I had a couple albums from BT I put in and it did a decent job just on the random setting.  There is a lot of other options I think but I didn't really go through the manual much yet.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 [Dreamcast]
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Limited Edition [Vita]

I was pretty worried about Danganronpa getting trashed in the mail after I saw how NISA has packed it recently, but my copy looks nice and mint.  A little bubble wrap around it would have made me feel a bit better about it all though, I almost hit it with the scissors trying to cut open the tape on the box.

^^What's in the box?  I'm a sucker for the special editions, but I don't have a vita.

For the first time ever, my local thrift had SMS carts.  Just to memorialize the occasion, I had to buy all three.  Got all this for $12.

ok so this is in the same vein as 999 and virtues last reward. I see its even made by the same team. I played 999 and really enjoyed it. Only got the bad ending so far. I own virtues last reward, but i haven't gotten around to it yet.

The Vita is def getting some really good games as of late. I may need to pick one one. I've seen some pictures of the original model (OLED) and the new model (LCD) and the original one just looks so much better.

Nando

The original is all "piano black" style. The new ones do look "cheaper" in comparison, however they have some unique features. The charger is standard mini USB, it has 1GB of built in memory, battery last longer (because of the screen) and it is lighter and more ergonomic.

I love the "expensive gadget" feel of the OG "piano black model."  THE SCREEN IS GORGEOUS too. I haven't seen the LCD in person yet.

If I go slim, I'm going for the lime green one.

Xele - what does the especial editon have? Any artbooks?

^nice ones!  just got MvC2 (import) back myself, and i didn't know the vita one was a VR, kinda interested now.

still replacing Dreamcast games at the moment, so today was Hoyle Casino, RE2, Spider-Man, Spawn & a few others.  relevant to the forum, i did pick up Akumajo Dracula X last week though, can't wait till its here!

- Danganronpa™: Trigger Happy Havoc for PS Vita
- Soft cover art book
- Single disc original soundtrack with jewel case
- Collector's Box

I also finally got some stuff from Japan just today that I ordered for my birthday almost a month ago, plus a couple random bits.

Finally, a super interesting thing I found.

The seller of the PCE Cotton I picked up also had this teacup for sale.

I've never seen one like this before, there is a well known version of the teacup for Panorama Cotton on the Mega Drive, but I haven't been able to find anything on the net about this one.

Any ideas?  I've never heard of a teacup for the PC Engine version, but there's mention of one for a Saturn version on Wikipedia.  Also, my apologies for the watermark, I'd never seen this before so I felt like putting my handle by it would be a good idea.

Comparing my disk with a couple of NES version videos I found on YouTube. There's a bit of music channel loss when bullets get fired and such which I didn't notice in the FDS version, which makes sense since the FDS has an extra sound channel or two. (Didn't hear any FM stuffs in it though)

Also, the first level music seems to be down a key or two. :P
