Awesome episode and even better you guys gave the pce a nod.

SmaMan

Congrats dude. From one TV/Video producer to another, 100 episodes is an amazing accomplishment. Mega props.

And you're right Joe, this is probably the first Top 10 16-bit games list where Super Metroid isn't on it... and I have to agree with that. Just never been able to get into that game. I always get to the part where you have to wall jump and I can never pull the damn thing off!

SCIV better than Rondo?!

NOW YOU FUCKED UP

Seriously though, I enjoyed it as always, congrats on 100 episodes.

Joe Redifer

I was expecting a bigger shitstorm from you guys. :)

So far, like before, we've only had one comment along the lines of "You can't have a Turbo game on a 16-bit list because it's CPU is 8-bit blah blah blah". Glad to see that the vast majority have no issues of the Turbo/PCE being included whenever we talk about 16-bit stuff.

HailingTheThings

Congrats! Your show is great!

Amazing looking episode!

Tell Dave all his game picks were really boring!  And Rondo is roughly a million times better than SCIV.

Well, the biggest issue I have is Super Ghouls and Ghosts over straight Ghouls and Ghosts, and the 2nd worst Castlevania of the generation as #1. I just cannot understand that one, Rondo and Bloodlines are just so much better, as good as SC4 is, it just doesn't compare to those two.

OMG!?!?!  No Ys Book I&II mention?  Who cares about Super Metroid, that POS wouldn't be in my top thousand!!

LOL, I really enjoyed this episode.  Great job on editing Joe.
Jossshhhhh...Legendary TurboTrollX-16: He revenge-bans PCE Developers/Ys IV Localizers from PCE Facebook groups and destroyed 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Josh and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner (extortion/blackmail!), never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

=D> Congrats on the 100th ep. A somewhat surprising one I must add.

You should make more top lists episodes, many of us are curious as to what your picks for every system are.

also that Cast IV had a great joke, which I respect..no I didn't mean the altered beast dude in there, I mean the whole game in there as the #1 :P

I'm going to join the vocal minority here and say I do like SC4 more than Rondo. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong, but I could never seem to get past the 2nd stage of Rondo. It seems like it's just a touch too hard, and I get sick of playing the same level again and again.

In SC4 I've almost gotten to the end, and I really enjoy it. The atmosphere, the music, (same guy who did Axelay and then vanished off the face of the Earth) the experience as a whole, really.

That's not to say I don't like Rondo. What little I've experienced so far I have greatly enjoyed, and I acknowledge that I probably need to just give it another good try. But yeah, at the present, I'd rank SC4 above Rondo.

Rondo can be a bitch to play if you doesn't master using the secondary weapons. Try the stopwatch at the 2nd boss, this will give you a much better chance beating him.

As soon as you gain access to Maria as a playable character, Rondo will turn into a whole new experience for you.

I like both Rondo and SCIV.

Fucking great 100th episode.  You guys really are a cut above.  Game Sack could easily be plucked off of YouTube and put on a cable network as a weekly show.

Something is horribly wrong, Rondo is one of the easier of the classic Castlevanias by far.

I'd understand having trouble with the original CV bosses boss rush + Shaft, though.  That's easily the hardest part of the game and still isn't that bad.

I think Rondo is a pretty challenging game.  Super Castlevania, on the other hand, is quite easy.  The only thing that kills me in that game is falling off of platforms and whatnot.  The enemies, including the bosses, are quite easy.

I too found it a little too easy, and much easier than the NES versions.  I believe I beat it the first day I had it.  I cannot say that for Castlevania I at all..  That bitch ate me alive...

SuperDeadite

Castlevania 4's bosses are truly pathetic, most of them you can stand in one spot and whip and the boss will die before you do.  You really need to force yourself to go for a no-damage run if you want to have any real fun with that turd.

The PS1 is what kept me in gaming after I jumped on the day-one N64 then bailed on it a year later (that thing has been banished to my storage closet for eternity).

Around '97 or '98 was a golden time for PS1 game buying - a lot of the good JRPG's were discounted to the $20 or so range and you could load up on 2 or 3 classic JRPGs, fighters or racers for the price of a normal new game. I remember getting Suikoden, WipeOut XL and Street Fighter Alpha 2 for like $50 together new.

Castlevania: SOTN and MGS 1 are the only games I've beaten 3+ times each. I kept going back to them every year.

Nintendo lost my loyalty from my SNES days with the N64 by sticking with expensive carts and losing Squaresoft which jumped ship to Sony. I had read all the articles about how a CD-Rom cost 3 cents to press, plus $3-$5 for the manual and case, while Nintendo carts cost $25 to manufacture given the PCB, the chips, the caps, etc. and that the CD with its 650 MB of space (versus cart max 64 MB) provided developers all this new opportunity, etc. I had also experienced the Turbo Duo with Ys Book I & II, so put it all together, I really thought that it was a terrible decision to stick with carts and I never made the mistake of even thinking of buying the N64 - I said bye bye to the big N. *sniff* Sometimes I did think I'd like to try Super Mario 64 and then Zelda 64, but that interest waned over the years as I enjoyed my PS1 with FF 7-8, FF:Tactics, MGS, Resident Evil, Xenogears, etc. ;)
