Well, I like DarkKobold. I vaguely remember various drama-filled threads, but what did folks crucify him for? TAS-assisted speed runs? That's not a crime.

I can recall one thread where DarkKobold tried to scam some turbo stuff from someone who was just given a turbo cd and some games without knowing what it was that the person had or something?  I don't know about anything else he may or may not have done.

Mario Kart 64 rules them all. Best tracks, best battle mode, and most important best controls and gameplay. Even though I found its Rainbow Road rather boring.

BlueBMW

Agreed ^^^^

Though I have really really enjoyed Mariokart 8.  They screwed up battle mode though.

My personal favorite Mario Karts are Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart DS.

BlueBMW

Mariokart DS really is pretty awesome.  It honestly feels a lot like MK64...  maybe that's why I like it so much.

Joe, we need to get a Denver group together to play just MK64

I like Super Mario Kart and Super Circuit most.

I know I am old but I still enjoy Super Mario Kart.

I spent a bazillion hours playing the Wii incarnation, too, but that was because of my kids.  It was decent.

I haven't played the N64 or Gamecube games in years.

I once beat all the 150ccm cups of Super Mario Kart together with a friend in 2-player mode, it must have been 7 years ago. Boy, that was tough, we had to rely on Bowser and DK Jr since they were the only characters that had enough top speed. I don't think I'll achieve this another time in my life. I still like its battle mode, but I won't play the cups any more.

Over the years I got obscenely good at that game. I went over to a friends house maybe 10 years ago, and he didn't even have 150CC unlocked on his childhood copy. within a little over an hour I had unlocked 150CC and changed every single trophy in the game to gold.

What no mention of Atari Karts on Jag or Merlin's Racing on the Nuon!?!?!?!  For shame.... Such a horrible list.

;)

Great episode as always!

A couple SameGack episode suggestions I'd like to see-

Retrospective of Kunio series, games and spinoffs-
Renegade, River City Ransom, Super DodgeBall, Kunio's PCE games... etc etc

Company profiles with historical info-
GameArts, Jaleco or possibly Taito?

A look at MMO's?
I'm not exactly a fan of MMO's, but it might be cool to get your opinion of some that have caught your eye or possibly even have played.  Try some out and capture/record your gameplay.  Could be funny-
Some to consider- PSO (Dreamcast/PC/GC), Maple Story, WOW, Neverwinter, Ultima Online or Evercrack
Jossshhhhh...Legendary TurboTrollX-16: He revenge-bans PCE Developers/Ys IV Localizers from PCE Facebook groups and destroyed 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Josh and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner (extortion/blackmail!), never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

No, his TAS promotion is not a crime. He was teased for it as part of our out-troll-a-troll posse that formed given his initial months here of heckling his favorite targets NecroPhile, vestcunt and BlackTiger in defense of the honor of resellers...

That seemed to be the only thing he did around here in the beginning, basically defend the honor of resellers in the gouging thread seeking to be their "voice..." As I said, this translated to heckling/needling/trolling BT, NecroPhile, vestcunt, etc. Then Professor -- seeing that we had a "live one" as far as wiseguy trolls (read: mostly unwanted) -- joined in on the action to run him off the forum Xray style. I joined this effort, as well as sparky, and that's the short version on how he became the most unwanted presence for a long time...

Sadly, even with all of Professor's efforts in out-trolling, such as teasing his TAS background (dickfaceTAS) and finding his public modeling photos, Darkko persisted to this day... We tried our best, but we just couldn't get rid of him with our ad hoc posse (as vesty refers to it). :P Ah well. So nowadays, he still trolls us and then just retreats to DoxPhile until he's ready to troll another day back here, heh. Thanks DoxPhile! (There you go John, free plug on my part!)

Anyway, was that really him in that photo ? I don't see a match compared to his modeling photos. I assume identifying that red NEC shirt guy as him started as a joke.

Ahh, yes, thanks for reminding me about that drama.

Also, I don't know who the person in the video is...but maybe one day...

I don't mind DarkKobold staying with us. He has run the gauntlet, several times. Plus, those photos were priceless. He deserves to stay just for the photos (not that he chose to share them, of course).

And, most importantly, DarkKobold has posted a significant amount of non-TAS content (his own writing/reviews) that I enjoyed reading.

Hey ... they worked it into the story ... I guess that means that we should call it a "product placement" instead of a "promo"!

That's the new world of advertising, babe!

Hahaha ... welcome to the big-league, guys!

But ... more seriously ... I didn't mind it.

It was taking a "criticism" of their style and poking fun at themselves with it ... I thought that it was appropriately awful, and so ... actually kinda funny (once).

Perhaps I've just got a weird sense of humor.  :-k

shawnji

Did they talk about Odin Sphere before?  I'm having trouble remembering, because I think they talked about Princess Crown, but it's been so long since I watched some of those episodes.  Odin Sphere is definitely my personal favorite from Vanillaware.  Can't go wrong with music by Hitoshi Sakimoto.

Man, I hadn't thought about Mad TV in... something like 10 years, I think.

ClodBusted

Personally, I'm not that much into the graphics style of Dragons Crown. I try to like the drawn graphics, but at the same time the whole wobblyness and twerkiness of the character's movement give me the feel of a flash game.

No, I knew that, I just thought he could have been a bit more memorable in this role! He played some over-the-top characters, in the past, and I thought he could still command some "screen presence" even if he played a more subdued character (like the humor coach). Believe me, I don't want him to be too xtrme—he doesn't need to be Stan McNer. He just needed to have a few more memorable lines, I think.

IMPORTANT:
If I wasn't clear (I don't think I was, I should have said this in my initial post): this was a very creative way to incorporate another personality into the GameSack formula, and I prefer it 1 billon% more than the usual method (stitching together  separately shot scenes into a stilted conversation, or using Skype, or filming in hotel room at a convention).

I would be very happy to see more personalities incorporated into GameSack like Humor Coach, which I thought was an homage to Craig Stadler from Pebble Beach Golf Links (that episode with Stadler is still in my Top 5 episodes of GameSack, along with Sega CD episode encoded with ancient FMV codec).

Sorry for being a hater.  :)

Please do some more episodes in the Craig Stadler vein. :)

I watched the whole episode, I thought the addition of that guest was alright, but he didn't bring that much more lulz than what Joe and David can do on their own I think. Heh. And he's a pro comedian ? Never heard of him... But, it is very cool to see GameSack try to grow/advance in ways like this! I'm not knocking the effort. It was trying to be fun and that's what it's all about!

Far more interesting to me however is that a "special" visit occurred in the comments section, heh, the criminal sneak/cheat bigot from inside XSEED Games, Tom-chan "The XXXSEED Henchman" Lipschultz, who likes to cheat software developers of their work hours and IP Rights, showed up under the account "WyrdWad" given the mention of Ys Origin in this new episode... Somewhat brazen I thought, but he never surprises me...

Somebody else saw my post exposing him and the company and responded with:
Quote from: BluBoulzor"Jesus Christ I had no idea Wyrdwad Tom was Satan all along. Should have known with the way he kept on debating with RegalSin on seldane.com"
And Thomas' reply back to that was the ole "There are 2 sides to every story and one must not believe everything they read on the Internet... Loud voices get noticed, whether they speak the 'whole' truth or not." You know, the "truth" can be adjusted which is what's been HIS name of the game for years! Guy really still has no conscience whatsoever!

Screencapped it:

My other response:
IMG

I'm curious to find out what BluBoulzor was talking about at Seldane's old ALOY forum. Apparently "Wyrdwad"/Thomas got into some lengthy debate with our old buddy RegalSin (Anybody still remember HIM with the pedofiend problem ??).

Hah! Good stuff!

I thought the joke was pretty clear as well but I just didn't feel Pat added anything to the overall humor of the episode. I have seen the guy be hilarious on MadTV but his inclusion in this episode just didn't do it for me, hopefully I am just the exception to the rule. Props for trying something different tho!

Another great Sack episode. I can totally enjoy a Game Sack episode even when it's subject is newer stuff that I don't have much interest in, like Dragon's Crown.

And I don't get the poo'ing on the guest star. Guest star humor has to be outta the park, grand slam stuff or it doesn't belong/isn't worthy? I thought it didn't mess with the Sack vibe and added some nice chuckles.
