Another great episode.  I am liking these faster releases and not too much of a loss in quality.

Game Sack jumped the shark a long time ago*, but it is still infinitely better than 99% of the content on TubeYou, so it is a moot point.

*Just kidding.

But kinda upset Joe left Sega-16, I heard some people bitch about his videos

Sega-16 is mostly toxic anyway. Not much loss is there. I don't know why I keep going except that I haven't found a semi-decent replacement.

I know Joe has mentioned that it is impossible to create videos that please everyone...because we nerds tend to be cantankerous whiners.

From what I've read in that particular thread, it was a case of throwing a bit of a hissy fit and leaving. Account is still active.

Can't say I blame him, though. You can only take so much whining before it gets on your nerves.

Joe and Dave, you did good on the post-credits skit. Some fans of Japanimation take themselves too seriously.

I really liked Berserk on the Dreamcast.  I'd seen the anime a few years prior and had not yet read the manga so a few things were kinda weird plotline wise.  However, Guts killing dudes with a huge sword was exactly what I wanted and this game delivered.

Apparently there's an English patch for the Japan only PS2 game, "Millennium Falcon" as well. Looks pretty good, like better than Guts' Rage good.

A cheating device episode would be good. I have a Genesis Game Genie. I think that's all the cheating devices we have. We'd have to track down a ton more. We could borrow some but we'd likely have to borrow from multiple sources and that'd mean such items would be in our possession for quite a long time. Is "that'd" a word? I've got a red underline under that bitch.

As for Sega-16, it was the constant nitpicking over stupid things that weren't even worded as a form as constructive criticism. I can usually take this kind of nonsense but when the other flies start circling the shit and all jump on board it just gave me a feeling of being quite unwelcome there. But hey, I'm glad they're at least talking about the show even if it's not good. I'm just not obligated to be part of that conversation. The bigger ANY forum gets, the more of this there is. If this forum were as big as Sega-16 it'd be just as obnoxious. People tell me Nintendo Age is very bad in a similar way. Someone linked me a Neo GAF thread about our Final Bosses site and reading that thread you'd think Game Sack was some sort of show dedicated to crushing transgender people and women. One moron or two even said something like "Ima unsub from Game Sack because they dare be friends with Alpha Omega Sin". Seems extremely shallow to me, but at least they're clearing the pool of idiots from our audience so that we don't have to do it ourselves. Alpha is a great friend. He's very sincere, empathetic and never lets his ego get in the way.

Oh, sure, sure. The circlejerk is strong at NeoGAF. I don't see why anyone could give a fuck who someone is friends with online and why that would problematize their watching of their videos, but that's the internet for ya.

Actually, thanks for doing that. Even though it became laden with living feces making some posts, it's still good that people see it and know there's a site that will have extra content that would normally clutter up our channel. Hell this weekend I'll be posting a video that got auto-flagged by Youtube. It's a companion piece to the episode we'll be releasing. And we'll eventually be talking about music in videogames. Wanna get the convention schedule out of the way first.

And yeah, it's always fun to count how long it takes us to get our first thumbs down on Youtube. Usually it's a matter of minutes. That means people are feverishly waiting for us to release a new video just so they can thumb us down. The dedication is actually kind of cool.

Joe, good episode and interesting topic. The court interviews dragged on a bit too long for their own good in the Night Trap segment, but this is just my own opinion. I found your analysis on the Sega and Nintendo chairmans very amusing and informative at the same time.

Ah, but I'd argue that this episode talking about the Capcom vs Data East lawsuit wasn't exactly the same sort of controversy as red pixels did during the 16 bit era.

Yay!  It's the episode on controversial games I was hoping for!  I have to admit that seeing Howard Lincoln being such a perfect lawyer (i.e. evil) was genuinely upsetting.  What an opportunistic jerk.

Please tell me you guys will do an episode on content that was censored for the west.  The Exile games need more love!

Besides the fact that they're a tacked on gimmick which wrecks the pace of the game, they didn't put much effort into designing them and the graphics are too generic and repetitive, but then when you add in superfluous rotation, it's becomes all the more disorientating. It's like a zoomed in maze game with enemies/bullets that appear on screen too quickly. If nothing else it should have used assets half the size to make the viewing area play-friendly.

The original Contra's alternate stages weren't such a jarring change in gameplay, pacing and feel. The Mode 7 stages in Alien Wars take you out of the game and you're just kind of working to get past them and then all of a sudden you're dropped back into a Contra game which you have to get the hang of again.

It would be a much better game if you could opt out of the overhead stages.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

Ah game boy. How I still cherish mine. So many memories. Though I don't have much love for 6 golden coins. Far too easy. I remember opening it Christmas morning and finishing it by dinner time.

Thanks for the GameBoy episode, enjoyable! Those 37 minutes flew by as if they were way shorter, which is always a good sign.

Although it seems to me like you guys slightly messed up the "colour" palette for Super Mario Land, Kirby 1 and Kirby 2 - these parts of the video look like white was swapped with light grey.

Beating the original Game Boy Castlevania was a proud moment for me, getting all the jump timing down especially.  It gets a lot of flack, but I remember it somewhat fondly despite its flaws.

Same title as far as I'm aware but I think it was released quite a while after reviews appeared in magazines and had been forgotten about. Its a RARE gem, same composer as snake rattle n roll etc too.

We didn't mess it up, the Gameboy Player messed it up. I couldn't do much on my end to make it look better though I did brighten it up.

Joe I'm torn about whether I should go to retropalooza. I wished there was no football game that weekend. The hotel rooms are through the roof or booked. The GameBoy Player is able to use the same button combinations for GB colour palette changing at startup as the GBC and GBA. As far as I remember, I never experienced such issues with all of these three handhelds/devices when playing these games.
I think holding Left+B at startup gives you a simple white-light grey-dark grey-black palette in the correct order  to somewhat mimic the original GB.

But I know the default color palette for Kirby 1 on GBC/GBA/GBP was rather irritating garish and inverted, though it is not the palette seen in the video.

Kirby 2 has some pretty nice color effects in the select world screen when played on the SGB, where it also has a custom border.
