Hope your hiatus isn't of the eternal variety. :p

But yeah when you do come back, bi-weekly would seem the way to go.
I didn't see the post but I think this is a good thing.

Way too many people on youtube wind up watering down their channels by releasing too many videos and the quality suffers trying to get out content on too regular of a basis. Quality over quantity is the way to go for sure.

FYI,

QuoteGame Sack is going on hiatus. We do have another episode coming up in two weeks but then after that we don't know when the next one will be. And no, there's no internal struggle or anything like that going on. Everyone is getting along fine and dandy and there's no conflicts. However come April the show will be 5 years old. We've been doing this pretty much nonstop regularly since April of 2011. No breaks. Even when there were obligations in real life we kept going through with Game Sack. TV shows get seasons and nobody minds. You take breaks on Youtube and people lose interest, subscribers diminish and people become angry. Don't get us wrong, we love making the show for everyone and it is constantly on our minds. The show has also been dying. It's been rapidly declining in views and I think people are perhaps getting a little too much "Sack". We think the best thing to do when we come back might be to go bi-weekly again.

We let our Patreon supporters know first about this yesterday since they actually fund part of the show. That way they could also decide if they want to change or delete their pledges.

Also we wanted to let you know that we won't be attending any conventions in 2016. This was a decision we made during the Portland Retro Gaming Expo in 2015. While we love meeting you all, it's just really hard for us to go on these trips because it's stressful and it interferes with the production of the show.

When they get back to making videos I think they should consider something like every 10 days. Other youtubers have said every week or is hard so why not try 10 days. Or even smaller 10 minute videos. Of all the reviewers out there. Game Sack is one of the better review shows out there. I'm sure a good middle ground can be found that doesn't overwhelm them but let's them release at a good pace to keep a good viewer base. BTW anyone know what they might be pulling in per month on ad revenue. Game Sack is the only show that I let the ads play all the way through.

Gredler

Good for them, I am glad to hear they are getting a well deserved rest. They've been consistently pumping out bad ass content for 5 years? They deserve one hell of a vacation. Rock on guys, enjoy the break.

Yep. The last one before they take their break.

Hey Joe, if you ever do another music comparison episode, here's another one.

Super Aleste, first bonus stage (after stage 2)
New Order, Fine Time
It's a very clear rip-off. If you listen to both tracks completely, though, you can hear that Super Aleste just uses Fine Time as a foundation and grows its own song from there.

Was anyone else surprised they labeled the video part one?  Then hoped it would mean they would kick out part two next weekend lol despite their sebaticol

I agree that releasing videos regularly would, at least theoretically, help any channel grow, but it's not exactly necessary(not that I want to encourage GameSack to release sporadically). Look at the Gaming Historian. He started off last year trying to release a video every two weeks or so and quickly realized he just couldn't keep up that pace with what he was doing. He slowed way down throughout the year(and made some great videos) and his subscriptions grew enormously.

I must admit I got pretty spoiled with weekly Sack. I think when they went from bi-weekly to weekly I just told myself "they wouldn't go weekly unless it was fairly easy on them", which was of course silly of me to think.

Anyways, I hope Joe and Dave take all the rest they need and come back when it feels right to them.

Joe, I just got the Game Sack blu-ray. The first thing I did was watching the "how it started" bonus feature, and now I'm going through the audio commentary for the episodes. It's so much fun listening to your thoughts about the show.

The box art makes me wonder when there'll be Joe X Dave fanfictions, lol.

But seriously, thank you so much for releasing that awesome disc.

Thanks to Gamesack, I just tried the Streets of Rage triple pack demo on Xbox 360. Man, these games are all awesome, so I bought the full download. Even part 1 plays so fine and has such a nice music, that I don't care about the rather simplistic graphics compared to part 2 and 3. And I'm a graphics whore when it comes to 16 bit games. I can't wait to play them in multiplayer with my girlfriend.
It's so cool that the triple pack includes all US, JP and EU region versions.

I think Mark from CGR is alright, as long as he's capable of making fun of himself. Definitely one of the more entertaining gaming people on Youtube who doesn't give a fuck about going the boring podcast/vlog route filled with Wikipedia whippersnapper content as so many others do. He just keeps on chooching out silly reviews (I mean this in a positive way) on regular basis.

I too enjoy a bit of CGR . Much more enjoyable than what some things have turned into. ( James and mike Mondays zzzz)

Ha, you beat me to it, Tron! I was gonna post this if you hadn't already! ;)

Highlights:

* Chris Covell had his HuZero homebrew featured.

* The hacks are interesting, but the ones I think I could care about some day are for Zelda and Super Metroid really. Maybe the Castlevania hack for the original NES version could be worth checking out when I'm an old man and if-and-only-if I finished off my backlog and modern stuff by then - just don't see a need to care about that one at present.

* With the rubber feet challenge towards the end, Joe goes full-on with a country boy "monster truck-loving" hillbilly voice!

TheOldMan and sunteam_paul also worked on Atlantean.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Great video, as always, and it's awesome to see some advertisement go Aetherbutts way - they certainly deserve it!!

In the video Joe asks the question what delineates between "Indie" and "Homebrew" - and I think that is as slippery of a slope as "Retro" - personally I hate these terms like a lot of you hate "Shmup" - I think they're misleading and contribute to a generalization of a complicated issue.

I think it's ironic that people think the small and mid level studios are gone, but somehow "Indies" have often staff of over 40 people including PR, HR, and marketing people  :-k  When people refer to Tim Schafer's studio as "indie" I think you see my point, or the behemoth for that matter.

To be considered a "homebrew" I would assume it's made in someones home, using tools they own with no real company structure behind them.

Again, a bunch of semantics and diction that has no barring on anything other that perception of these developers, which I think it ultimately overpowered and silly.
