12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

Because he's just like you. He hates on alot of games that aren't bad at all, which is what you did when you said games like LE I & II and Prince of Persia sucked.

Who cares?  That song is probably the worst part about the music.  Granted I do like some of the tracks in Spider-Man.  It's no Lords of Thunder, but there are some good licks.

Seriously, the Sega Cd was awesome, even with all the garbage on it its quality title selection more then matches the US Turbo Cd and Duo selection. There was alot of fun to be had with it. ONLY fanboys would hate it. What the Sega Cd coulda used was more of the Jap Mega Cd titles, but as it stands there was more then enough to keep anyone happy with it,for it being a add on system.

Its just like people trashing the 32X. The 32X even with the limited titles released on it had some real keepers, and back when it was released,it was THE way to have Star Wars Arcade,no other system got it. Also its port of VR racing was awesome, along with VF,After Burner,Space Harrier,MK 2,NBA Jam TE,WWF Arcade Game,Primal Rage,Shadow Squadron, and Blackthorne. There are others, but those titles there were enough for me to warrant the purchase of it as a add on. I mean shit, people paid almost $110 just for the Genesis VR Racing release, spending $50 more to have access to better cart ports of some of that stuff was def worth it.

I still to this day feel the 32X was a good stop gap at getting people used to the Idea of 3d gaming, without totally busting their wallets.Even with the limited titles,it helped breath a little life into the system.  Alot of people got the 32X to be able to play stuff like VR racing and Doom, and these people also couldn't afford a Saturn or PS1 sometimes and the only other option was a Jaguar price wise. As much as I like the Jag,any day of the week I would rather have a Genesis and 32X combo..

I wonder if anyone else sees the irony in the first part of the subject line in this thread.

I agree with pretty much everything Michael said. Even if by anyone's judgement the Sega-CD's overall line up of decent games doesn't match the Turbo CD, at the very least its not far off. The 32X actually got a ton of games, even though few were very special, most were actually decent.

To me it doesn't matter if another competing console has more to offer, all I care about is entertaining games and if a cheap system has at least one I'll buy it.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

Yeah I know, but I barely even remember Mr. Big.  They weren't very popular.  I think Warrant out-hairmetaled/glamrocked them. ;)  All I know is that the song on Spider-Man isn't that great.  I actually like the song on Funky Horror Band much better, and it's in Japanese!

He actually said he thinks I am one of the best, not THE best on here. And I think all he means by that I think is that I can recognize a good game, and don't bash it just because of it being on a certain format. I am pretty sure he is well aware I am one of the worst bastards here at times when I want to be,but that is not something that is usually related to my actual gaming habits,or what games I think are good or awful.

I think its a nice form of mutual respect being shared there gamer wise when he made that comment about me,and this is a form of respect which you are certainly lacking at the moment. While I don't think your acting like a full blown snerd Bonknuts, nor do I think your a asshole or anything, but I do think your acting like a ass about this subject,or in the very least trowing your selves to the wolves here because the vast majority here def doesn't agree with your flawed/biased opinions on the Sega Cd here.

I also don't want to be pulled into your bullshit by having you trow my name into the mix as a tool to use in your losing argument. He made that comment about me,it has nothing to do with you or your current plight on here.

Well, for example, depending on how you view it,some consider what I did on this thread ( https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=3923.0 )to be pretty crappy, while others have applauded me for it. It depends on who you speak to about me,and your own view on the situation at hand when it happens.

People are allowed to state their opinions as he did about his love for those SegaCD games, and since this is a public forum and not the Soviet Union, and I can post my opinions as well. He was shocked that the SegaCD wasn't getting any love, posted games in his opinion weren't crap as valid proof. I posted a response with my opinion of those games - I didn't personally attack/insult him liked he did on his next post and I'm the asshole? Mike, if he had posted his "ok asshole..." thread at you, you'd be all over the place... I know your history of temper on these forums.

I admit though Mike, you've been really cool lately (which is great) .. hehe well minus that post were you jump the gun in Kit (but I could already tell you didn't like him). I'm not dragging your name into this, I'm just laughing at his ignorance of this boards history by his statement - nothing more. Not sure why GUTS felt the need to jump in and add an insult without any reason unless he's still butt hurt about something (I usually ignore the fool).

PCEngineHell

Bonknuts,I can see your point and his both. Yea I am not sure about Guts, but if I look at it from MRMs view I mean,to me he listed  a pretty good list of titles, about anyone here would agree with it,so maybe in his eyes he felt like you were trying to insult him personally when you said about every one of them he liked sucked. It almost looked compulsory from you, like you wanted to rub it in his face or something.

Thats how I looked at it too,but I also understand the eurotrash jibe you attached to some of them. You oddly enough can tell whenever a game is made on that side of the world, good or bad. At any rate I am still dumbfounded that you felt so many on the list were bad games, regardless of what current internet personality says about them, but you have your taste, and thats just how it is.

Nazi NecroPhile

I find myself agreeing with about 75% of Bonknuts's opinions of the games MotoRoaderMike's list.  Bonknuts didn't say they were all crap - he only rated half of them as crap and the rest as average or good.  Just for the hell of it, below is the ranking of the games from Sega-16 next to Bonknuts's much maligned assessment.  Notice how many of 'em agree with Bonknuts.  Does that mean that they too are 'assholes' and deserve a punch in the mouth?

3    Sol Feace - decent
3    Cobra Command - average at best, limited replay
X    Jaguar XJ220 - crap
5    Time Gal - same as Cobra Command
9    Road Avenger - The best/most enjoyable FMV on the SegaCD - classic
X    Batman Returns - crap
9    Final Fight CD - great
X    Prince of Persia (And the best damn version you can find at that!) - it's POP... crap
X    Wolfchild - crap
8    Lethal Enforcers - crap
X    Lethal Enforcers II -crap
8    Rise of the Dragon - crap(especially)
7    The Terminator - more crap
9    Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin - decent at *best*
3    Starblade - almost crap
7    NBA Jam - total crap
8    AH3 Thunderstrike - more crap
X    Cadillacs & Dinosaurs - crap/crap
4    Rebel Assault - funless crap
4    Revenge of the Ninja - decent at best
9    Snatcher - great
4    Fatal Fury Special - average
X    The Space Adventure - decent
7    Lords of Thunder - great

The Sega-CD certainly had quite a few great games, but  MotoRoaderMike's list was half full of mediocre titles and skipped over many of the best releases.  Where's Brutal, Silpheed, Vay, Adv. o' Willy, Popful Mail, and the Lunar pair?

Notice that even Sega-16 thinks Lethal Enforcers is a great game (and also one of Konami's most important games, and one of the best of all time), along with "Rise of the Dragon". And I agree! They deserve all the praise they get! They're two of the greatest games ever made! LE was awesome back in 1992/93, and it's still awesome today! And the Sega CD version has music by Motoaki Furukawa and Tappy Iwase.

QuoteSega CD I looks nice if hooked up to a Genesis 1, but a Genesis 2 looks much better with a Sega CD II, and the CDX looks sexier than both of 'em put together.
Cool. I didn't even know about that one. heh. You learn something new everyday. I was actually talking to a girl last night at a bar about game systems and she mentioned the CDX, but not by name. She was puzzled by my description of the Sega CD I and II as separate accessories and I was puzzled by her description of the Sega CD as one system.

But even more interesting than that....how is it I end up talking to a cute girl in a bar that's dressed up as Elliot from ET about old school video game systems.  :o lol. Oh and she doesn't have any idea what the TurboGrafx or PC Engine is. heh. But I got her number and I told her I'll bring my Turbo Duo over....if you know what I mean.  hahaha.  :-"

Don't forget about the Wondermega, the X'Eye and that AIWA radio thing.  All of 'em are Sega CD + Genesis (or Mega CD + Mega Drive) in one li'l unit.

And in the Sega CD version of Fatal Fury Special, you can play as Ryo Sakazaki, and not just fight him. And you don't even need to enter a code. He's ready to access from the start.

Sega-16 has some crazy scores, but it's a Sega Fan so it's fine (Sega-16's a cool site/forum). I was disappointed they gave Dahna a lower score than Greendog, though. My perspective/rating comes from if I had actually spent $50 on the game new or that I just don't like the genre (sports games are like country music - one of few things I hate most in this world).

I'd should revise the rating on Jaguar XJ220 from crap to decent at best. It's not Outrun, but it's kinda cool (still wouldn't have bought it new back then though unless I was jones'n for a SegaCD game). While few of those games might actually be in the "average at best" range, I rated them as "crap" because I don't like the genre/style/design of the game (would you give dating simulation games a high rating if you didn't like or couldn't stand them?). There are quite a few SegaCD games I really like, but I dislike a lot of them. One thing about some of the FMV games (non-anime ones) is that they sucked back then, but are cool in a cheesy sort of way now a days (and are a good laugh too). The anime one's were pretty cool back then, and not nearly fun anymore ( except Road Avenger.. total Riding Bean! ).

I think the reason why the SegaCD got such a bad rap is that Sega was known for pumping out great/awesome titles, but the SegaCD failed in comparision to it's cartridge counter part. Of course loyal Sega fans supported it, main stream gamers did not. Why shell out $299 for the SegaCD when you have better games on the Genesis - was the common opinion. There are some really great games that did come out for it, but it wasn't all at once - instead over a 4 year period. I think some people lossed that perspective over time (or don't even have it since they weren't part of the teenage/adult gaming consumers during it's time - the gamers who experienced the transition from 8 to 16 bit era).

Joe Redifer

Road Avenger was and still is completely awesome.  I also have the Saturn version (Road Blasters) and the Sega CD version is much better.  The video might not look as good, but the new sound recorded for the Sega CD version is MUCH better than the original arcade sound (which is what the Saturn version uses).  There are loud explosions all around you and everything just has a lot of "oomph" to it whereas the original sound was pretty thin and sparse.  And let's not forget that cheesy intro song!

Same goes with Cobra Command... much better new sound featured in the Sega CD version.  Unfortunately the Sega CD version is just too damn choppy and undetailed.

If the graphics/animation,and sound wasn't busted on that version Id like it,but it had too many issues. Its still better then the Snes one,but not by much.

TurboXray

I picked up the Saturn Time Gal/Revenge of the Ninja double jewel case pak. I didn't know about the Road Avengers one!? Have you seen the original Road Avengers for arcade? I download the emu mpegs for it and it looks great. Someone should make a DVD version of it...

Joe Redifer

Road Blasters comes with Thunder Storm FX (Cobra Command) as a double jewel case pack.

I saw Road Blasters in the arcade once, or maybe it was running on a LaserActive.  A DVD version would be possible with extreme scripting, but you'd need a far better source than MPEGS which by default are 320x240.  That is 100% unacceptable for DVD.  The original footage would need to be digitized and the drop frames removed.  Send me a LaserDisc and I'll do it.
