@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

SCI-FI TECHNO TIME!

Apollo 440 - Lost In Space Theme (from the soundtrack to the movie, which I liked)
Orbital - Dr. Who Theme (takes a while to get started, but rules when the breakbeat kicks in)
David Levison/Jeff Kliment - Imperial March (from the Force Commander PC game, AWESOME REMIX)
DarkMateria- Picard Techno (catchy, but the synth sounds like Roland MT-32  )

Here are some random things that I was watching...

I'm adding this to the list of games I HAVE TO HAVE: Atari Jaguar - Battlemorph. I love that Amiga-esque ambient techno, it sort of reminds me of the PC game Creatures.
Some Japanese gaming show circa '95 talking about Project Reality (N64). Somehow I REALLY doubt the N64 could pull off that Eifel Tower.
Yeah, this is old, but it's cool. The SGI never-released Final Fantasy tech demo game, I chose this vid because it looks like it's actually being run on an SGI emulator (that or it's just a video player or something):
EDIT: I guess it's just an MPG player or something...

Ok, the person who posted the clip is somewhat ignorant.  That clip is a clip from an abandoned FF7 engine/game.  It was released on Squre's Japanese website before FF7 came out and at the time they said it was what FF7 gameplay would look like.  It is a FF7 clip, not FF6.  I don't know where they got their information from, but mine comes from Square's website which used to have pages of articles on FF7.  FF6 was already well out as well then this clip was released as well.

Also, that white bar has been added in!  It is not part of the origional clip.  The white text at the bottom is another add in.  I wish I still had that clip from forever ago to be able to post the origional one on YouTube.  I looked at many copies and they are all copies of other youtube/web clips.

I remember this file comming out when Square overhauled their website for FF7, clearly in the FF7 area, along with tons of other information like screenshots of characters they never used, etc.  Just because this gameplay does not resemble some elements of FF7, does not mean that Square didn't present it as a FF7 clip.  The origional clips sport a smooth 12 or 15 FPS as well, I remember converting this video frame by frame to make an animated gif of the best parts for my website waaaay back in the day.  It's why I remember so much about this clip, I had a whole site of "FF7" media because a lot of people had trouble navigating the Japanese Square website to find them themselves.

Kitsune's linked articles state also that the teaser was presented as a preview of FF7 using characters from FF6, so I don't know what point he is trying to make.

It isn't really Final Fantasy 7 though, Missa. They mocked up a battle using FF6 characters and music (that's the SNES music for FF6 you hear) and showed it at SIGGRAPH to see if anyone would LIKE polygonal RPGs. If the demo had failed, Final Fantasy 7 would have been a 2D RPG on the N64 and would have NEVER taken off the way it did today.  Fortunately people LOVED the demo, and as it says, they went WAY over the top and had to make it for PS1 instead.

It wasn't a preview of FF7, it was a preview of one of the ideas for FF7. That idea was chosen.

Just to toss out YET ANOTHER REASON why you should stop what you're doing and go out and buy Ape Escape 3: After you beat the game and record all the monkey movies in each stage, you unlock the Simian Cinema's movie creator mode. Since you weren't listening, I'll break it down again:

I'm not saying it really is FF7.  I am saying it is a test they did to show what FF7's gameplay and battle engine might look like.  It was on their website though in the FF7 area which is something I have said before.

The absolute craziest thing you will ever see, a fake SHMUP on the display of the Roland Sound Canvas SC-55, which is actually a demo song for the unit.
It sounds really good, obviously not as good as the SC-88.

I will never be able to afford this, or play like this :( :
This is the synthesizer of my dreams - the Korg X5D. Why? Because after some extensive research, this thing is Japanese SHMUP music in a box (actually the whole 01/W family is). It has all the classic sounds, all the digital sheen, all the punchiness, basically, it doesn't sound real at all AND THAT'S WHY I WANT IT.

Yeah, it's hit and miss with the Family Guy. They're actually funny in the DVD commentaries. The "When You Wish Upon a Weinstein" commentaries in particular are hilarious. I went through a Family Guy phase, but I really don't watch it much now. Same with the Simpsons. I get noxious even just thinking about watching that show.

By the way, jumping the shark is a stupid phrase that refers to when a show has run out of ideas and has to stray so far from it's original concept that it might as well be another show.  I hate how people use that phrase to refer to EVERYTHING now- something can't jump the shark just because it's not funny to you anymore, it has to make a huge fundamental change to the format of the show.
