Christmas in March....

....well, not really, since I had to buy it all.

I got a note today that I had 3 packages waiting the post office.

I got home, opened 'em all up and these are the spoils:

Cost breaks down like this:

Lot with Magical Chase, Powergate, Raiden, Dead Moon = $215
M&MIII = $100
XE-1 joystick = $59

That's a total of $374 for all that, shipped. Dead Moon and Raiden I already own (I was after Magical Chase) and those are already sold for essentially $20 each. That means Magical Chase + Powergate for $175. Assuming I can get $5 or $10 for Powergate which I don't really want, that's a US Magical Chase with manual in pristine condition for $165 which ironically isn't much more than the inferior Japanese version goes for.

So when all is said and done, I'm basically in the hole $324 for Magical Chase, Might & Magic III and the XE-1. I'm not complaining however-- I've been after a mint Magical Chase and XE-1 for years. I've been idly interested in picking up M&MIII if the price was right, and $100 shipped is about as good as it gets for the US version. This deal is also worthy of note as $165 is the most I've ever spent on one single video game, ever, in my entire life. The runner-up was Zenki FX which cost me $120 for complete mint-in-box copy.

I was really feeling the burn when I paid for all this over the past two weeks, coupled with an $800 car repair... But now I can sit and enjoy my spoils knowing that once and for all, the magical chase has come to an end.

That's a pretty decent deal for Magical Chase and proves that good deals can be had on ebay, as long as you're patient and willing to ignore the overpriced auctions.

P.S. - Wanna make a smooth $10? I'll pay you $175 plus shipping for that Magical Chase. Hell, I'll even sweeten the deal and throw in a copy of Peach Boy!

It might not be, like I said, I was only idly interested in picking it up. It looks like fun and like Nod suggested, it generally sells for much more. I'll play it and if it sucks terribly or something I can always sell it off and easily make my money back.

I'm slightly disappointed in myself since those two (M&MIII and MC) are now in the top 3 most expensive games I've ever bought, usually I won't buy anything even approaching $100. But those two.... You just never, ever see them for less. As a matter of fact, I don't know that I've ever seen either one as cheap as I got them for since TZD ran out of stock.

Can you not read or can you just not understand why games are supposed to be "fun"? I want to know why this game is 3x as fun as LoT, twice as fun as Star Parodia, etc.

If you enjoy oppressive suffocating dungeon dirges you could have every King's Field and Dungeon Master game ever made for $100...and still have about $50 left over for the shitloads of weed needed to enjoy the software itself.

Might & Magic III is really good, and you'll get lots of play time out of it. Also, since it's so deep and complex, it's one of the few games where it truly is advantageous to own the US version.

M&M3 is nothing like Dungeon Master, and "oppressive" and "suffocating" are silly words to use when describing the most open-ended and nonlinear RPG on the system.

I'm pretty sure LoT had at least 20x the number of pressings as M&MIII. That's not the point. I wasn't asking why its expensive, I was asking why people waste that kind of cash on lesser games. Did Circus Lido get less fun when they found 10 cases of them and the dollar value tanked? No, it sucks ass either way. M&M isn't terrible, but its not all that great either.

I actually heard really good things about m&m3. Also, US Magic Chase is definitely worth every penny! Its hella fun! I've played through it many times, even beat it on hard mode on my b-day

Powergate looks like, and could easily be, a SEGA MAster System game. This is not a good thing since the SEGA Master System was a generation behind the Turbo.

Yeah. PowerGate, from what I remember, is rather bland and lacks the spit-n-polish that PCE fans expect from shoot-em-ups.

Since PG is a cheap game, though, fans of the genre might consider checking it out. Personally, I like playing all these games, even if they are mediocre.

Powergate is sold.

I popped in M&MIII last night and played around with it for like 15 minutes. It seems like it'll be a pretty cool adventure but I'm going to need to invest some serious time into it and I have too many games in progress right now. Oh, and the save file takes up the entire fucking memory capacity of the system. Don't bother trying to play this game unless you have at least one Bank cart laying around with a free bank on it. It won't even let you start the game unless it has room to make it's save file.

You lucky bastard. I'd love to have M&MIII. I'm been playing the cellphone version of M&M (not sure what it is called) and it is actually a blast to play. Yeah, it's a cellphone game and its actually fun.

I've played M&M games on the computer, but never had a chance to see M&MIII on Duo.

If you want to make life easier, then go to work for a while and keep depositing your earnings in the bank. Before long, you'll be rolling in dough and able to buy the best of everything. The only drawback being that much time will pass and you'll be a decrepit old fart, but the super pricey swords and armor more than offset the lowered stats.
