@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

In my opinion the sgx is worth owning for daimakaimura alone. It's a wonderful and technically impressive port of one of my all-time favorites. One of the best nec cards imo.

It is mentioned on the included wiring instructions (above, next to no.1)

They are intended as a protection for the 2 stereo plugs from the av cable, since you are instead using those from the ifu when using the rau-30
#4
How great!! Thank you for this and your efforts spent with this project. I highly appreciate it

Quote from: CrackTiger on 07/18/2015, 04:14 PMIt'd be interesting to see a side by side photo of the two CD-ROM adapter's ext port connection ends.
I made some pictures for you. Please see below.

Side by side comparison RAU-30 (above) vs. PA-AD18 (below)

Guts of the PI-AD18. As you can see, it's nothing more than an ext. bus extension with additional power  port.
#6
Both look identical
#7
It's the PI-AD18. Looks like a simple extension for the LTs ext bus. Never opened mine though.
#8
That picture actually includes the rare lt scdrom adapter. so no reasonable option.
#9
Wow, congratulations for finally grabbing this uber-rare gem.

Some years ago I'd experimented a bit with the SNDin (Pin 1B) on a white PCE to realize that indeed there only seems to be monaural audio coming into the PCE from the CD Redbook. The big drawback with the white PCE is that it doesn't use the SNDin at all, so on a RGB mod you can't get CD-Redbook from the console that easily.

On the Core/Super Grafx the monaural redbook never bothered me since I only use the DIN connection with my TV. My stereo equipment is always connected to either the Headphone- (Duo) or the Cinch- connectors (IFU).

Although I've never checked it I'm quite confident that the Duo variants deliver stereo redbook on the DIN connectors.

I love that price tag sticking on the cover.
I wonder what the 126.750 price tag represents.

If you could get me these, I'd really appreciate.

Thank you for the quick and safe shipping and the friendly communication.
I can highly recommend this seller to everyone.

Congratulations!! Especially for finding the letter with PLG.
The paper seems to be much more htf than the actual PLG with Hudson sleeve.

Hi all,

i just realized (somehow i haven't been aware of this until now) that there have been a number of arcade games utilizing Hudsons HuC6280.
Ref.: http://www.mamedb.com/list.php?category=&cpu=HuC6280&fuzzy_name=&manufacturer=&start_year=1985
According to this list, Hudson and DECO were the major publishing companies for it.

I wonder if anyone here has some more information about it. I'd love to know in how far the hardware driving these games is based upon PC Engine. As the list includes some ported PCE bootlegs it seems to be at least related to it. Would be great to have some more (and partly unknown) games with that unique PCE style.
#17
I just ordered mine and am very looking forward to receiving it. Thank you for your work!!
I'd be very happy to get one of the specials, but i guess i've missed the first 100, did I?
#18
The SFZ comes on a (well-made) color-printed CD-R. It's NOT a pressed CD!
But the inlay, poster, backprint etc. are of a very good quality - and it looks very nice in the shelf. So for me it was totally worth the money.
As already said - if you like to have one of these, you won't come around supporting Tobias in any way. But if you eventually decide to get it, just make him an offer. I bought mine for far less than officially offered.

I remember Gamesworld from the 90s. Didn't know they are still in business.

Thank you for this guide. It was a practical assistance for my laser pickup replacement.

Quote from: Frank_fjs on 06/05/2012, 11:50 AMIsn't the console baggie supposed to have a tinge of blue in it?
Yes, the original baggie is colored blue. And the manuals of console and controller are missing, too.
I think a reasonable price would be somewhere around 170~180 USD.
#22
The very first Hudson HuCards were sometimes backprinted that way.
I know it from Kung Fu, Bikkuriman World and Shanghai.
I'm unsure if it only affected the first production runs or it was a misprint.
#23
Received the gears today. Thank you very much!!
I'll try to repair my broken drive the next days if i can find the free time.
#24
The strange thing is the similar look to the Core2 design. I think it's not an official product, but it looks pretty neat in this combo. Maybe a Sodipeng product?
#25
I stumbled across this auction: http://www.ebay.de/itm/390419401952 and was wondering what kind of AV-box there is attached to the Core2.
Any ideas anyone?
#26
Wasn't Battle Ace designed for the Power Console (although the rare demo pics show the SGX/PowerConsole combo with a development cart)?
Would be very interesting to give that one a try with the CyberStick.

oops, sorry for the double question :-(

The tune of the first Gomola Speed stages belongs to the stickiest i've ever heard.
I looove that unique PCE chip sound.  :-"
#28
I'd suggest
- Doraemon (Hudson 22)
- PC Genjin 1
- Batman
- Parasol Stars
- Dondokodon
- Niko Niko Pun

Great price. And quality looks awesome!!

What are those Sega branded speakers? Never heard of them ...
#31
They had a bunch of different models in the acoustimass series, even the acoustimass 3 had a few different generations.
I first saw this type of subwoofer somewhere in the 90s.
#32
I have them ^_^
Found them on yahoo one day. The one and only time i ever saw them in auction.
The sound is really cool, although the subwoofer isn't that powerful.
As far i could figure out it is similar to the Bose Acoustimass 3 set. Only difference is the Hudson label on the satellites cover.
#33
I own two of those monitors and both have this issue.
Seems to work as designed ... not quite satisfying for such a high-priced gadget.

Please note that usually the PAL standard is connected with a 50 Hz Framerate.
I never saw a 60 Hz PAL modded console so far.
If this is the case with your friends CoreGrafx it could be quite a bit more than just re-soldering the AV DIN-Port

Got my package today. Super quick and reliable shipment. Thank you!!

Hello,

i recently got hand over a loose defective PCE LT.
I basically works (game-sound and controls) but doesn't show any picture on the LCD. The backlight works, but nothing else up there.
I already checked and re-plugged the internal flat-cable contacts but everything is tight and well-contacted.
I'm well aware of the common TE / GT video-issue which can be repaired by replacing the small cap on the outer edge of the circuit board, but i never experienced a corresponding LT counterpart.
Since there are lots of the commonly affected caps on the LT PCB and none of them can be measured without removing it, i'd really love to hear anybody who could already solve the problem by replacing only some of them.
If not i'll start replacing any possibly defective caps within the next days and post my solution if i find one...

Best regards to the PCE community,
 herr-g

For sure it isn't my intend to pwn anyone. If it looks like, then sorry, please excuse my stile.
I just meant it as i wrote it.

Anyway, i'm hoping someone knows more about the game.

.. Meanwhile i could find it in the release list in PC Engine Fan 12/94

I'm pretty sure a plenty of folks out there would pay even more for that.
Most protos are only handwritten. Who cares about a machine printed and pressed CD-ROM in an early state of developement?
I guess nobody would pay 100+k-en for playing an adventure game. Think about Akihima Jin no Suugaku Mistery. It's just for having it.
Only hardcore collectors would spend that much for something that common people would call just a plain CD-R.
#42
On Yahoo there's currently a sample copy of "Angelus 2 - Holy Night" within the PCE Adventure category for a quite hefty price.
As i've never heard of that title i'd really like to know if someone has a few infos about it.

Chris, Very good work. You forgot the unreleased Missile Fighter.

@Thibaut: What about your PCE Unreleased Book? I can't wait to see what you guys are preparing for years.

It's not hard to find in Japan. You can often find it on YJ.
I'd say a price around 25$ is quite common for this one.

I've never seen a complete guide and doubt it even exists for public.
As the PCE's video processor has no output for croma and luma you'll have to use a RGB => SVideo IC (like the one you ment above).

I know D-Lite has done it before (with the help of matt from gamesx) and even modded some PCEs for forum members. I suggest contacting D-Lite if he can hand you out a draft.
If you're gonna build it by yourself it would be great to publish it to Lawrence for the public.

Btw. It's a damn mess that RGB is still such an alien in all those NTSC regions.

Quote from: nat on 03/24/2007, 01:28 PMYes, somebody please explain exactly what this device does. And what's the "NEC SAMPLE" HuCard converter-looking-thing.
It was NECs very early project for network playing. Unfortunately it never made it to practise.
As far as i'm aware the project started in 1987 (according to a prototype draft) while the hardware we know has been built around early 1989.
At the back of it you can find a phone jack connector.

Regarding the HuCard i guess it holds the OS for establishing the network service connection. But it's only a guess.
