2/13/2025: Localization News - Cosmic Fantasy 3-4!

Rather earth-shattering news in the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 community: Cosmic Fantasy 3 & 4 has been officially localized to English by Edia 30 years later for the Switch! Hard to believe! I know their script quality is poor given the 1&2 port but still good to see.

I recently picked up a copy of Fray, so can do.
Thanks!  That would be great!

_Paul

Would be very helpful NecroPhile, thanks!

_Paul

Music added for Hellfire-S and Shinobi (complete soundtracks).

If Pcedai stays down one thing I would love to see on the software bible is the Japanese text for game titles. It made it very useful for searching for videos and guides for pce games and looking for games on yja.

Is there a good source for these somewhere that I could copy/pastre from?

PunkCryborg

I am sure that you know about these sites already however they list both English and Japanese game titles:

C-Games: http://www.c-games.info/index.php?id=004&platforma=PCE-CD

PCECP: http://pcecp.com

Redummp: http://redump.org/discs/system/pce/

Video Game Den: http://www.videogameden.com

and chrismcovell dumped the PCE_Catalogue (in Japanese)

https://www.chrismcovell.com/texts/PCE_Catalogue-Lines.html

_Paul

That's great, thanks (I only get garble on the PCECP site but plenty of others to use).

SuperPlay

PCECP seems to be doing the same for me. (Windows 8 64bit)

I have tired installing the Japanese language pack and the Japanese language option for Firefox.  This may be an issue with PCECP as other Japanese sites show fine.

Can someone confirm if they can see the Kanji Name field correctly on PCECP who has their PC set to native Japanese?

General Tip for you:

If you are copying between web pages and your PC, notepad etc.  You will need to change your language support options for non-Unicode programs to Japanese.  Otherwise when you copy text from the web page to notepad the text will change to blocks and ?????????

To change this:

Control panel / Region / Administrative and click Change System Locale and set this to Japanese

(note region is 'Region and languages' in Windows 7)

However changing this does have a side effect!

As you have changed the 'support option for non-Unicode programs' to Japanese it does what is says on the tin!  So for example in DOS '\' will now show as:

/dosnq.jpg

Adding now in progress...

PunkCryborg

I just get garbage text over at pcep as well on windows 7 64 bit

_Paul

Phew, done!

Japanese text titles added for (almost) every game.

SuperPlay

Fantastic days work there :-)

_Paul

My brain and arm hurts now!

PunkCryborg

awesome! Thanks a lot I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds that stuff useful!

Bardoly

Hey, have you ever considered adding in the Special Version HuCard games (i.e. Final Soldier Special Version)?

Video game Den has a good list here.

I would like to have more information on them in an easily accessible location, and adding them to your site would be great!

_Paul

I might add the Special versions although it will probably be a short note in the existing pages as there's not much to say. There are still a few titles I have to add and have just not got round to yet (such as the Karaoke discs).

I personally would appreciate a separate page for each of the Special Version games.  One reason is that I believe that some of the Special Version games are literally only 2-5 minute games, so they would mostly only be interesting for collectors, while some of them are full version games with extra options, which would then be more interesting for gamers.

_Paul

New page added for Pyramid Plunder.

Video review by Chris Bucci added for Victory Run.

Screenshots added for Fray. Thanks to Necromancer.

_Paul

I had a few queued up and thought I'd get 'em out in one burst.

_Paul

Screenshots added for Dragon Knight & Graffiti and Kabuki Itōryodan.

_Paul

Hey, about how long is the campaign for Super Schwarzschild 2?  I've been thinking about trying that one out.

Paul,

I thought it rather strange when I was looking at The Tower of Druaga on your website.  The review of the game on your site indicates that it is a decent (if quirky) game, but you have the game marked 'Avoid'.  Is this 'Avoid' your opinion and the review someone else's?

By the way, thanks again for the great website.  I use it often.

Perhaps I've not made these sections very clear - the 'You say...' sections are reviews sent in by other people which don't always agree with mine. Maybe I should change that to 'reader opinion' or something.

No, your "You say..." title is fine.  Iwas just trying to clarify whose opinion it was for the 'Avoid' tag.  I assume it's you, but I'm not sure.

Thanks again for the great website!

I need to put my own mini review on pages like that. I could just write 'it stinks' but that's not very constructive.

It stinks by the way.

Sorry to hear that.  I had read a couple of reviews which indicated that it was an okay game, so I just picked it up last week.  I'll pop it in soon and give you my thoughts.

Some people quite like it, so don't take my word for it. It just doesn't do it for me.
