Xexyz! Nice choice, I've always had a soft spot for this rather weird game. :)

FINALLY!   =D>

(i look forward to watching this one...cant right now)

JoshTurboTrollX

Xexyz has similar sound effects that are heard in Keith Courage.
Jossshhhhh...Legendary TurboTrollX-16: He revenge-bans PCE Developers/Ys IV Localizers from PCE Facebook groups and destroyed 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Josh and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner (extortion/blackmail!), never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

I can't wait until you come to the conclusion the NES is your favorite system and you disown all others...

Has anyone tried the NES/Fami 400 multicart that Aliexpress has for like $7 shipped?

If not, I'll let you know what I think soon 8)

Yeah, that sounds pretty awesome.  I haven't seen synbiosfan around for a bit actually.

This was actually one of the better LJN games. Boring, perhaps, but controls/hit detection were OK.

0:58 "ahh i've got crabs!" game doesnt seem that bad either. I never played Jaws but its something i think i will look for now.

Mathius

This game traumatized me when I was a kid. I'll never forgive Westone for making such a travesty.

Well maybe not. I can't stay mad at you, Westone. *hugs*

_Paul

Is what I played all there is to it? I got the feeling I might be missing 75% of the gameplay somewhere.

All you do is travel between the two ports looking for Jaws and collecting sea shells. Once you find Jaws and wear his health down you enter the final sequence where you ram the filthy fish with your boat, which is easier said then done.

PCEngineHell

Jaws wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. Yeah the last part was a tad hard, but I mean come on, I beat the game when I was like 12. If it was really that hard I'd not have been able to do so. I think the main part of Jaws that is the problem is it is not that long. There just is not enough content in the game.

It should have been a 2600 or Colecovision game, not a Nintendo game.

No, with variety of challenges/objectives (in shootemup scenes) and a nice overworld quest getting items...I actually like the flow of the game. The shootemup stages underwater should have had different objectives and goals (kill x fish, plant x lobster traps, rebait x hooks, dodge swarm of barracuda for x seconds, escort a baby seahorse to mommy seahorse across the screen, have scrolling full-on horizontal/vertical shooting stages, have mini-boss encounters, etc.)

I meant as it is. It obviously could have been spruced up to be a good retro-style NES game. I don't think that was within LJN's capability, though.

Oh, I see—it could have been implemented as a neat 2600 game in its current form.

Yes, I agree :)

As stated above this fish 'em up was developed by our good friends at Westone, creators of the Wonder Boy series. Shocking right!? :)

That's some very surprising info to me. Jaws never seemed so bad as people say, just a bit too short and simple. It seems its gameplay mechanics were more akin to a 2600 game (not that they are bad, just simpler than what Nes games could have allowed to do).

Mzo

I quite like Jaws.  Way too short, yeah, but still fun.  It was a ripoff back then but just right at whatever it's worth now.  A dollar CIB?

CIB copies usually go for around $20 in nice condition

My friend and I played Jaws as a rental one weekend.  I think he was disappointed but I kinda liked it, myself.  I didn't learn of the Westone connection until a few years ago, but that just adds to the charm for me.  I would definitely pick it up on the cheap.

Medic_wheat

I just picked up some games that I ah e been wanting to try for some time.

All loose for $5 a game

Legendary wings
Hogans Ally (already had but it was $5 and in better condition then my old one)
Kickle cubical
Jackle
Journey into Sillious
Shadow gate
Monster party
Thundercade (the cover art looked like G.I. Joe from the 80s had to try it out lol. Plus it was a "Sammy" game which I typically like.

Also got Kickmaster for $45. Kind of pricy for a NES game  but meh. Let's go crazy.

I've been after Kickmaster for a while but then the collectards sniffed it out and drove the price up. $45 is a good deal nowadays.

It was?  I am blissfully unaware of some of the more pricy NES games apart from you little damsons and flint stones dinosore peek level stupid asking prices.

Unfortunately I think all I have left to pick up on the NES on my want list are the pricyer games.

I think the only "cheap" BES games still on the list is Mike Tysons Punch out, base wars, power blade, adventure island III, and uninvited.

The rest

Little Samson
Rescue Rangers 2
Bonk (shitty conspired to the Tg-16 and not a desperate need for anything over $10)
Power Blade 2
Fire n ice
Krion Conquest
Bubble Bobble 2
Both flintstone games
Mighty Final Fight
Panic Resturant

I think that's it.

These videos are nice. Interesting choices so far. How are you playing these and capturing the video? Emulator or real hardware. If real hardware whats the setup?

Emulator. If I had real hardware they wouldn't be genuine first time plays.

You need to get a NES, Paul. Just sayin' :)

Oh man, Deadly Towers lol. I actually remember beating that game.

It is a terrible game but I was extremely determined in my youth.

I never did properly beat the game.  I used the old password hack changing the first 2 letters FE or EF to get powerful boost so I could do all 7 bells and finish it.  I really need to do this proper one day, exploring various hidden dungeons and buying powerups the slow way.
