2/13/2025: Localization News - Cosmic Fantasy 3-4!

Rather earth-shattering news in the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 community: Cosmic Fantasy 3 & 4 has been officially localized to English by Edia 30 years later for the Switch! Hard to believe! I know their script quality is poor given the 1&2 port but still good to see.

Thanks a lot for what you've done so far, Sunteam_Paul :). There are a few more things that I want to tell you, though:

I love how it's recommended in the "Why not try.." section for Artist Tool to use a pencil and paper instead :P (that joke could even be extended to mention Microsoft Paint and Mario Paint for the Super Nintendo, too ). It is stated on top of its page that the release date was on October 18, 1991, though; the game's copyright information has it for 1989.

For Terraforming, the Overview states it to be a biological shooter, but it's more of a seismic one since the levels are based on earthly locations. A rephrasing can be done this.

I'm thinking about using some of the pictures provided on your website to clip screenshots for making monthly avatars. If this is okay with you, I'll provide the credit/source on the "New Avatar Apreesh Thread" when possible. If not, I'll look for other sources to use for new icons.

Fixed date.

I see where you are coming from with Terraforming, but the game is heavily based on shooting many biological creatures in their early stages on the terraformed world. So we're both right really.

Feel free to make avatars from my screenies.

Here's a few minor errors for fixing:

A.III
Link to Stephenson's Rocket has expired, but here's the new link.

ADVENTURE ISLAND
Typo - "Taking more of its influence from the second game....."

AI - CHO ANIKI
Link to 'Visual Scenes - Opening' is dead.

ANKOKU DENSETSU
Typo - "and maybe a little more ROM on the HuCard" - I know it's nitpicky, but shouldn't RAM be ROM?

APPARE! GATE BALL
Typo - "...members of your team are chosen..."
Typo - "...guaranteed to be frustratingly better than you are..."

ART OF FIGHTING
Typo - "(think Street Fighter II's Hadouken)" - according to various intrawebz sources anyway, so take this with a grain of salt.

ASTRALIUS
Typo - "You are a flute playing hero..."

GENPEITOMADEN
Page is the old format with bad pictures.  This should be remedied as soon as possible, as the world's greatest game deserves better.  :)

I had no idea that you were able to see a view counter for each of the pages! Also, is it possible to know the individuals who looked at your webpages ?

I have a few more errors that I can across from the website, all which were different from the ones Necromancer pointed out from before:

There are no links available to see a larger version of the front covers for Dungeon Explorer II and Darkwing Duck (for Darkwing Duck, though, I have a feeling that you thought that it was too simple to have one).

For The Addams Family, the word "are" is missing from the third sentence in the "Comment" between "sprite" and "basic." The word "digitized" is spelled correctly for the "Digitized Pictures" link, but an "s" replaced the "z" for both the website title and webpage (I'm tired of seeing this, along with other spelling and grammar errors that appear frequently, on the Internet)!

I thought this error was a little humorous, but the release date in Japan for Alien Crush is put as September 14, 1998. This same typo had also happened with Jaseikin Necromancer.

Also, it might be a good idea to put a capital "G" for the TurboGrafx-16 on the front page description of the PC Engine; that was the way the system was officially spelled.

Sorted. British English tends to use 's' more than 'z' for words like this but in this case it should have been 'z' and I got myself confoozed.

Great :)! I guess using an s instead of a z is not as big of an error as I thought? I had not known that for English spelling before.

I have just one more error I've noticed that I've forgotten to put up last night: The link to Ballistix on the "B" page links to Baby Jo the Superhero, thus making two links to the former game on that same page. The ones going to this game in the "Why not try" sections of various titles have worked fine, as far as I know.

OK. It had worked for me now when I switched computers.

I've noticed some odd phrasing whilst reading the Cadash overview. In the second sentence, there is a mention of "there mush much gnashing of teeth." There can be multiple ways to restate it, but one particular way I can think of is "and there was much mushing and gnashing of teeth from Barlog."

Anywho... here's a handful of other possible errors:

Typo - "...and the priest uses a mid-ranged holy mace of head-cracking." - to match the tenseness used elsewhere.

"Mushing" could refer to squishing, not telling dogs to pull a sleigh. The word "mushing" can be removed entirely to form a sensible sentence, as well.

There just needs to be an adjective between "quite" and "how" and get rid of , or just remove "Quite" altogether. It just depends on the context. But from what I gather you are trying to say, I would suggest getting rid of "Quite" and start the sentence off with "How":

i.e. "How a company like Hudson had the nerve to release this trash is beyond me."

or with an adjective, thought I don't think this fits with what you are trying to say.

I really appreciate all the effort in letting me know all these errors. Thank you.

Some of them make me mad with myself as I know better than to use it's instead of its for example and this annoys me when other people do it! I have a real mental block with Cyber City Oedo. I've been aware of it since I saw about the anime in Newtype years ago, but my brain always wants to type Odeo for some reason.

'Crim' is primarily British slang for criminal, although you don't hear it much (except occasionally in Judge Dredd comics).

I feel the same way when I see some of the spelling errors made often on the Internet, and I do get kinda disappointed when I make simplistic one myself.

I think I just noticed that some of the single-missing-word spelling errors could be due to a sort of slang used in the English language. For instance, in the second sentence of the overview for Bikkuri Man World/Wonder Boy in Monster Lair, the word "of" is missing between the letters "perfect" and "a", making the phrase "...perfect a conversion as you're likely to get." Sometimes people do say these in normal circumstances, as I recall, but this, I believe, relates to drabbing on words or a southern-USA type of speech. Don't try to feel too bad about little errors like those, if you do feel humliated by them; sometimes they are appropriate for some levels of communications (but it is always best to speak as intelligently as possible, too; it would be good to fix the error mentioned above).

You sure are giving me a bit of a workload there, Sunteam_Paul. Good work on the footages, as usual. I'm particularly thankful for the Pac-Land, Hana Taka Daka!?, and  Panic Bomber one since they were most helpful.

I have noticed a few errors in the Populous entry, though. The game was listed to be released on April 5, 1991, but the games copyright date states that it was made in 1989 (the same type of error that was present in Artist Tool). There is a context error in the phrase "More houses means more people" for the Overview; since the subject is plural, the linking verb(?) must be singular for coherency. What system was the original game on (stating this will help provide necessary detail to the readers who are just learning about the game)? "God" may need to be capitalized also.

I was running out of characters when I was trying to ask about this on the Coryoon gameplay video, but what had happened to the pictures of the options screens that were in the "Omake Images" section of the older version of the website? They really were lovely pictures, as I remember you addressing them as, too.

I was surprised from the Kato Chan and Ken Chan overview that you knew two terminologies for fecalation ("letting one rip" and "taking a dump"). I never though anyone outside of America (let alone my own father, since he uses them quite frequently) was aware of them...Did you listen to American comedies, by any chance :-"?

NOW, I really like to hear a music video for Timeball/Blodia, since from hearing the "techno" track present in the gameplay video for it, and there looks to be several music choices possible, I would like to hear the other music pieces sound like. A gameplay video of Battle Royale would be nice, also; Looking at the screenshots, I've been interested to see how it plays.

Wow. Jim Power looks like a neat game. Never knew about this one.  :-k
Approach with caution. It's really not as good as you might think.

That was purely an oversight. They are back up now.

Hrm, I'm not aware of those phrases having an American origin, I've used them for as long as I can remember.

Blodia sound is likely to be soon as there aren't that many tunes, making it a nice easy one for me to do.
