General Gaming / Okinawa Rush

So i caught one of my favorite streamers (Macaw) playing this game last night and it looks pretty cool. Looks like they reached their kickstarter goal. So looking forward to playing this one

So I'm on a journey to work through some of my backlog this year and attempt to complete 50 games. I would like to stream/record some of these gameplay sessions, but i currently don't have the extra funds to get a framemiester (or like device) to capture my older consoles. So I'm just going to emulate stuff.
Since its been a very very long time since of played with emulators. What are some of the better options out there?

Mind you I am using a PC that i have put custom firmware on the video card so i can display the PC on my PVM. Right now its just being used as a groovyMAME set up. But would like to run emulators for older consoles as well TG16,PCE,MD,SNES, and Sega CD to name a few.

So this year I'm trying to kill some of the backlog so i decided to challenge myself, and attempt to complete 50 games this year. I'm in the process of moving right now, so I won't have my consoles set up until February, but i have my 3DS handy, and I completed the first game this weekend, Cave Story.

I plan on streaming some of the games, and posting playthroughs on my youtube channel, if people care to check it out.

Hey guys, I'm looking for a list of all the PCE games that have been translated, and ones that are currently being translated.

Tired of using my pandora 3 and want a better solution. Right now i currently use a supergun (Vega jr.) with two PVMs, one being TATE (RGB) and one normal (S-video). I'm not really familiar with MAME, or Raspberry Pi, and I'm not sure what would be the better solution.

As for games, i intend to play CPS 1,2,3 stuff, some NEO stuff, and some shmups. I also want to possibly stream the content in the future. What do you guys feel will be a better setup to use. All advice is appreciated

I wasn't aware of this game until a friend posted a link to the trailer, but man does this game look awesome. An action RPG with platforming elements mixed in, and an awesome 2D battle system. Looks like its not exactly at its goal yet, but its almost there with only 5 days left. Check out the trailer, and you can download demos on multiple platforms.

After watching the trailer, im pretty sold. Will be playing the demo later today. Not to mention the composer is Hiroki Kikuta

General Gaming / Vega Jr. RGB set up
10/27/2015, 02:07 PM
Hey guys,

I just acquired a Vega Jr. control box (supergun) and i know it has RGB (JP21), thing is, my current PVM set up is EURO SCART with a SCART to BNC cable. My question is, what type of cable would i need to use my Vega Jr. on my current setup. I know the pinout for the EURO SCART and JP21 cables differs, but does anyone know if the difference is just the actual pins on the SCART port that connects to the TV, or the actual DIN port on the vega Jr? What type of cable would i need to get (or converter)

Any advise is greatly appreciated

Hey everyone. So I like to post the games i'm currently playing on facebook and instagram, and many of my friends would like me to stream. Problem is i don't really know what would be necessary to stream with my current setup. I play most of my older console using EURO SCART cables connected to a Sony PVM monitor. I really don't know what i would need to get these games up and running on twitch.

I figured I would make a thread to discuss it. Maybe it would be helpful to others out there as well.

Hey guys. I'm in the market for a Sega CD. I currently have a model 2, and a JVC X'eye but both don't work. Since i'm not to handy with a soldering iron and what not, i figured i would just get a working Sega CD and part with these broken ones in the hopes that someone will be able to buy them and salvage them. a model 2 Sega CD is preferred, but I would be willing to get a different model for the right price.

General Gaming / Bayonetta 2
10/29/2014, 02:52 PM
So Bayonetta 2 came out last Friday for the Wii U, and i noticed there isn't a thread for it yet. Well good news because I'm creating one. So Bayonetta 2 is the new action game by Platinum and it is an exclusive Wii U title. it also comes with Bayonetta 1 which was released on ps3 and xb360 a few years ago. So you get 2 games for $60. Its a great deal, and if you enjoy action games you should pick this one up.  So lets discuss the game here.

I beat the game a few days ago, after about 15 hours of gameplay. It was a wild ride for sure, and i loved every moment of it. I beat Bayonetta 1 (ps3) this past Friday just to refresh myself again with the game. Bayo 2 is definitely the better of the two games, but there are some things i preferred from the first game. First off is the difficulty. Bayo 1 is the harder game (normal difficulty) but it also has a lot of cheap deaths thrown in there as well. I really hate quick time events that kill you if you miss them. It's one of the lamest and most frustrating ways to lose in a game, and i'm super glad that bayo 2 has zero of them. But i did find bayo 2 to be way to easy at times. at the end of bayo 1 i had about 30 deaths racked up. At the end of bayo 2 i only died 1 time.

Another thing that stood out for me between the 2 games were the bonus stages (Alfheim in bayo 1, muspelheim in bayo 2) I recall the bonus stages in bayo 1 being super hard, and i was only able to complete and find a few of them. Meanwhile, the bonus stages in bayo 2 were abundant, and pretty easy. I found all but 2 of them during my first play through, and i completed them all, and only had trouble with a few of them. I recall one of the Alfheim stages where you had to stay in the air for at least 20 seconds. There were Muspelheim stages like this as well, but they started off with you on a platform. needless to say, the Alfheim version is much harder.

But at the end of the day, Bayonetta 2 is an amazing game, and it is a great sequel that fixes many issues the first game had, while making it a bit more accessible to gamers. I will end this with stating that i do believe that The Wonderful 101 is a better game than Bayonetta 2. I know many will disagree with this, but hear me out. Yes Bayonetta 2 is better looking game than W101, but i feel that the enviorments, and stages were much more "fun" in W101 than in Bayo 2. They felt more fresh and new to me. Maybe its because I played Bayo 1, then started playing Bayo 2 right after, but i enjoyed the city landscapes, and the many exotic areas in W101 over Bayonetta. I also prefer the combat and comboing system in W101 over the Bayonetta games. W101 unite morph attacks just feel so awesome when you string them together, and i felt that there was a bigger and more free variety of combos to pull of in W101 over Bayonetta. Lastly, i enjoyed the characters and story of W 101 over the Bayo games. I do enjoy the way they tied Bayo 1 & 2 story together. But one thing the W101 had over bayo in story were the bad guys. They actually were interesting and fun, and had back story.

Enough of the rant, in the end if you own a Wii U you should def pick up Bayonetta 2. Once your done with Bayonetta, pick up The Wonderful 101 as well

So i first heard about this game here, and i looked into it a bit and it looked pretty cool, but it wasn't currently translated into English. Well that changed yesterday, and Aeon Genesis has released their fan translation. I might just have to put some time aside to play this one

General Gaming / New video game shelve
08/02/2014, 03:08 PM
Hey guys, I've been thinking about picking up a new gaming shelf for my game room.  I want something that allows me to put my PVM and HD monitor on one shelve. So i took a trip to Ikea yesterday, and ended up looking at a Kallax shelve. I didn't buy it yet, as i want to do some measurements first. But out of all the units i looked at yesterday the Kallax looked to fit the bill.

What do you guys think of this shelve, or are there others shelves you think i should consider. Here's some pics of my current setup and a link to the Kallax.

So i just moved into a new home and have to set up my new game room. I am now in a loft area with more space, and really want to make the wiring set up as clean and easy to work with as possible. So what do you guys do for wiring management? Do you guys have certain tools or things you use to help in this regard? If you guys have pics that would help as well.

I will be hooking up 12 different consoles, and will have 2 TV's set up. One PVM, and a HD monitor. I will also have 3 consoles connected to the internet with 3 ethernet cables.
All advice is appreciated

So this past Saturday (4/26/14) i received a text message from my mom, telling me that Steely Dan is coming to Phoenix on July 15th. I was super excited because I love Steely Dan, and they are one of the bands i truly wanted to see live. So i told my Girlfriend about it, she got online and bought 4 tickets, 1 for me, my brother, my mom, and herself.

My g/f Tanya told me the tickets were $102 a piece. I thought that was a good price for them so i told her to buy them. After i purchased the tickets, i was hit with service fees that were not in the transaction until after the purchase was made. These service fees turned out to be about $25 per ticket. I was pretty upset after this, so i looked up the site, and what i found just pissed me off.

The site tries to portray itself as something legit, and its not, they are scalpers who buy tons of tickets than over charge. I read countless complaints about this site online. (i feel so stupid for buying these tickets). After reading all this bad news, i hopped on my bank account (BOA) and had a chat session with a rep. The transaction for the tickets was still pending (this was only about 1 hour after the tickets were purchased) I had the BOA rep cancel the transaction.

I then went online to the actual official site and purchased tickets which were better seats, and they were much cheaper. With service fee they came out to be $96. I was happy and though i dodged a bullet on this one. Well This morning comes around and i check my account, and those fuckers at Official-online tickets charged me again for the tickets i canceled. So i contacted my bank and started a claim. I'm really hoping that my bank can take care of this. I don't want to be out an extra $500+ for this shit.

I'm posting this here just to vent a bit, and to see if you guys have any recommendations on handling this issue. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Here's a link for the site. When i saw it i knew it was BS. I wish i would have looked into when my g/f was buying the damn tickets !!!

So i started playing Dragon Force for the first time today, and man is this game confusing. There's so much to take in at the start. I feel like i have no idea how to play the game correctly. I'm going to read the whole instruction booklet during down time at work tomorrow. Hopefully this helps with the confusion.

General Gaming / Best Sega genesis games
04/09/2014, 12:45 PM
Since i just did the group buy for the Megaever drive, what better time than now to have a discussion about some of the best Sega genesis games . Discuss favorites, gems, hell even talk about the games that should be avoided. I'll start.

One of my favorite games for the genesis is Street of rage 2. Streets of rage was one of my first memories with the console, playing it at my cousins house.  I remember my mom saying " this game is stupid, all you do is walk forward and beat people up"

A few years after that, my upstairs neighbor had a genesis, and had a copy of streets of rage 2. I was hooked after that point, and borrowed a genesis from a friend to play that game. I then discovered great games like splatterhouse 3 (still scares me to this day) comic zone, and sonic.

So like the title says. If you had the power to bring any musician back to life, who would you choose, and why?

For me it would have to be Jim Croce. He was an amazing singer and song writer, who had IMO so much more to give to his fans. Also Hide (Japan X) a great guitar player, and really enjoyed his solo work, even though i don't understand Japanese.

General Gaming / Dark Souls II
03/13/2014, 04:03 PM
Ok, so Dark Souls II is finally upon us. I know there are a bunch of members here who enjoy the Souls games. So lets discuss the newest one here. I've played about 15 hours worth of the game so far, and i love it, but there are some weird things that set it apart from other souls games. I started out as the swordsman class, and dual wielding is a lot of fun, and adds a lot of tension to fights.

As far as glitches and bugs, i have run into a few. First, a sound glitch has happened to me and others i have talked to. Basically the sound when preforming an action, such as attacking is delayed. Also, since rag doll is gone, i have noticed a lot of breakable objects and bodies getting stuck in walls, or just floating in the air. weird stuff, makes me miss rag doll. The biggest issue i have had so far is when my attack just whiffs. Its clear that i hit the enemy, but for some reason the attack just doesn't connect.

Other than that, I have really enjoyed my time with the game, and it looks a whole lot better than dark souls did.

Been watching some videos on this one, and it looks like alot of fun. Was wondering what you guys thought about the game

General Gaming / Nintendo Direct 2/13
02/14/2014, 03:26 PM
Just got done watching the Nintendo Direct 2/13. Something that i just don't understand is why the Wii U can't have as many great games as the 3DS. It just boggles my mind that the 3DS releases hit after hit, on both the retail and digital market front, and the Wii U can't do the same.

Anyway, there were some pretty good announcements in this one, and some good trailers.

Nintendo Direct 2.13.14

Im really excited to play smash now, and so glad Inazume eleven is finally out in the states. Been wanting to play those games since they first released in Japan.

Saw this game mentioned on the latest ep. of game sack. It looks to be a fun beat um up, and the turbo doesn't have to many. So i wanted to check what you guys thought of this game

Any of you guys playing magic? I've been playing off and on since 1998. I stopped around 2005 with betrayers of kamigawa and said i wouldn't get back into it, but here i am again, and now i am back into the game. I just picked it back up with Theros, and I'm having a great time so far. I do have a standard deck (some proxy cards) but what i really enjoy is drafting.

I feel that drafting is the best form of playing magic. It gets rid of the people who are willing to drop tons of money on cards to make the best deck being played. Its so strategic, much more so than standard or limited. You have to make sure you cut the right color, that the other 7 at the table aren't cutting, you also have to take risk. Like taking a good card thats a different color, so you may not have to deal with it later.

So what do you guys enjoy about magic. Share here.

Off-Topic / Samsung TV questions

So i found this TV outside today while taking out the trash. Brought it in the house, and so far the only thing that doesn't seem to work is HDMI. I'm fine with this, but i was wondering if anyone had any experience with this TV when it comes to classic consoles? S0 anything using RF,AV and s-video

Off-Topic / Student load payment advice
10/22/2013, 07:27 PM
So, its around that time in my life where i have to start paying back my student loans. I am actually still in school at this time, but i'm only taking one class so i am no longer considered full time. Yesterday i received a letter in the mail from one of my private loan holders by the name of ACS. After interest and fees i owe over $35k. It's definitely a lot of money to me, and they want the monthly payments to be $340 a month, which is something i don't think i can manage

I spent some time this morning doing some research on ACS, and they seem like a very dirty and shady company, so it makes me very hesitant to start paying them using my bank account. I have read stories where people sign up for payment plans with ACS, only to get hit with delinquent credit reports from ACS, and then claim to not be aware of any payment plan setup.

So i have been thinking of either creating a dummy bank account that i only use to pay this bill. I was also thinking of consolidating the loans through a bank. It just seems like a safer option. This is my first time having to deal with this stuff, so if you guys have any advice at all, it is greatly appreciated

General Gaming / The Wonderful 101
08/21/2013, 03:21 AM
The game drops in less than a month for the Wii U. It is developed by platinum games and is a action title. Currently there is a demo on the Wii U eshop that has a small portion of the story mode, and some missions to play. If you are a fan of platinum games, and also enjoyed viewtiful joe, i think this game is right up your ally. I'm really excited for it, and have played through the demo multiple times. Also, I have been keeping up with the offical blog which has discussed game mechanics in depth, and each of the wonder 100 playable characters.

Heres some links for you guys

As the title states, what do you guys think are underrated or under appreciated games for the turbo or PCE?

I would have to say Fantasy zone is one that comes to mind. Lots of fun, and a interesting take on a shooter.

So i was listening to the awesome U.N Squadron OST and i thought it would be fun for us to discuss our favorite video game composers and why. Feel free to post links to music.

I'm looking for a few of the working design games I'm currently missing. I need parasol stars, vasteel,  and exile: wicked phenomenon. After playing the demo today, all i could say is " I miss IGA". The game is hard to see because its so zoomed out. The battle system is a 3d action game battle system thrown into a 2d plane game. Shit feels awful. Framerate feels bad. I will still be picking it up because its a castlevania game, but i will wait until its cheap

General Gaming / Anarchy Reigns
01/12/2013, 11:38 PM
Anarchy Reigns is a action beat um up game created by platinum games. It came out just last week for both the ps3 and the 360. Ohh and let me tell you its a hoot to play. The single player is a lot of fun, and has that platinum games flare. The Story is also very good for platinum games standards. I'm calling you out Vanquish, that story was awful.

Not Only is there an awesome single player, but there is multi player as well. You have access to around 14 characters, each with different strengths and weaknesses. There are a bunch of online modes, including your standard death match and team death match. But there are also modes like death ball (think football on crack).

I definitely think you guys should check it out. For only $30 it is a great deal, and if you want to play on PSN you can add me (Roku78). Hope to see some of you on the battlefield

So i have always been interested in owning my own arcade cabs.  I have seen plenty of you guys buying PCB's for arcade games and using a Jamma setup and what not. I have also seen some of the Sega naomi setups. I really don't know anything about Jamma setups or what not. Currently i wouldn't be able to accommodate an actual arcade cab.
