Quote from: Psycho Arkhan on 06/09/2009, 07:19 PMI got 3 boxed games and they showed up on my doorstep wrapped in newspaper, sitting in a pile of snow with icicles dripping down.  no box, just one layer of newspaper.
You really have bad luck when it comes to MSX gets. I hope your latest F1XV came in one piece.

Who was the seller that shipped in a newspaper? I'd really like to know so I can avoid at all costs.
#8
Can I see a picture of the whole thing? Also measurements of the mainboard would be nice. I might have an empty shell that can fit this.

For Sale:

SNK LS-30 joystick with harness - $35 - A used joystick I took out of a Ikari Warriors control panel. The rotary function is 100% working but the 4x microswitches on this is shoddy. If you want to replace them you'll need to find 4x Matsushita AH76515 microswitches. These microswitches can be salvaged from any Neo Geo AES joystick (original or kidney), XE-1PRO, XE-1ST2, or ASCII Stick II Turbo.

Jamma pcbs - all require SNK LS-30 rotary joystick

Downtown - $25
Ikari III - $55

PC Parallel port to Famicom and Genesis adapter - $20

MSX2+ computer is sold now. :D
#16
Anyone looking for a solid MSX2+ computer? It's modified with a PC floppy drive, so you won't need to worry about replacing the drive belt. It's unboxed without any paper documents, but it's 100% working and in great condition.

This a picture of the actual unit. Only the MSX2+ computer is for sale, nothing else.

I'm looking for serious offers on this. If I can't find the price I want it will go straight to egay.

I have a box full of ISOZ/backup/pirated/Warez - whatever you want to call it - games that I longer need. Included is Nintendo, Sega, TG16, PC-FX, PSX, PC Windows, etc. I don't wish to trash them since they're still useful. All of it is free just pay for shipping. :) I'll pack it using a USPS Priority flat rate box which cost $10.35 anywhere within the US. I prefer to do money order on this, but if you send me paypal please add 4% to the total.

The X-Arcade gets a bad rep and most often you're laughed at for using them. Laggy encoder, stupid button layout, and not-so authentic parts are some the reasons. It ain't so bad as you might think and the model you've picked out has the trackball which great if you play those type of games. If you buy one I highly recommend dumping the stocked joystick and buttons and replacing them with authentic Happ parts.

edit - Yes, it's not worth the price, unless you can find one cheap on ebay.

XAV-2s - the best RGB to S-video encoder, uses the hard to find Sony CXA2075 chip.

Mutation Nation (MVS) - about F'n time I got this. :)

Quote from: guest on 01/29/2009, 10:31 AMDang.  I sent one here, shame it didnt make it through -_-.

Ill get one eventually.

And yes Rolins, the entire front panel is gone.  Thanks to Sylvester packing it with newspaper for an overseas trip.

I had to disassemble it to clean plastic outta the cartridge slots... its just a bare front w/ wires hanging out.
Yikes! Dude, should've used bubble wrap. Yeah, happened to me once when I received my first MSX2+ a few years back. I was super pissed when I opened the box, only find the back panel near the power supply was cracked really badly. It still worked though, but ugly.

My new jamma board arrived today. This one's Outzone, a unique Toaplan shooter released in 1990. Paid through nose for this one but totally worth it.

A 30watt iron will suffice, just don't leave it on the pcb for more than 2 sec at a time. If you can exchange it for a 15w or at least a 25w iron.

Or this set.  It's dirt cheap, especially if you can pick it up locally.
Thanks for sharing never heard of this place. They even have unibits for $15, wow awesome definitely a must buy.

Now what kind of screwdriver do I need to open the system up?

From the looks of it it looks like a Torx. But from the looks of the screw (has a groove inside of it), I can't get it from home depot and the like.

Bad controller port, eh? I'd never have guessed it. Well seems like an easy fix, if all you need to do is re-solder the controller port. So easy even a cave man could do it.  :D

Philips FDD interface - With this you can connect an external floppy drive to your MSX computer. This one only supports 360k disks, so I still need to replace the disk rom so it works with 720k.

Holy crap, that pile is taking shape before my very eyes, like Pizza-the-Hutt from Space Balls. We need to get you some plastic bins/drawers and 100pk of ties immediately. If you're not too careful that pile of cables will eventually developed into a sentient being and decide to take over your identity.

Tried to play a CD, and when I press RUN, not only it doesn't spin, the red light doesn't even come on. Is this a bad motor?
Is it just overheated or something? My old Duo-R would have the same problem when its been on for hours, but coming back to it after it cooled down made it worked like usual.

Does it also happen when you play a music cd?

This seller builds the vogatek superguns and his are less expensive than that other guy - http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/arcade-blazer_W0QQ_nkwZQQ_armrsZ1QQ_fromZQQ_mdoZ

However he doesn't have the MKII available right now. He's probably out of parts, so you'll have to ask him to build one.

Up for sale is a MSX2+ Panasonic FS-A1FX computer, all fixed and working great. - $130 shipped.

Price includes USPS Priority with tracking + insurance within US. Anyone is welcome to shoot offers too, price ain't set in stone here.

Also check out my CTCW auctions, I have a few MSX2 games for sale still - http://www.chasethechuckwagon.com/display.cgi?search=1&seller=rolins

I bought this MSX several weeks ago and the original disk drive and its mounting plate were missing. I didn't mind the missing drive, that's easy to replace but the mounting plate is a whole different story. Without a mounting plate there was no way of keeping a new floppy drive still, so I opted to mounted a 34pin IDC to back of the computer for connecting a PC floppy drive. I also restored +12V power to the system, by replacing the shot 78L12 voltage regulator. You can read more about that at the the MRC forum - http://www.msx.org/forumtopic9300.html

Included in this deal is the MSX2+ computer and a spare 34pin floppy cable. PC floppy drive and ATX power supply is not included. You'll have to supply that yourself.

PLEASE READ - Very important notes about this computer

-Mostly older PC floppy drives will be compatible like a Teac 235HF and Mitsumi D359M3 models. Looking for PC drives manufactured during 1998 and prior is a sure bet.

-Floppy drives requires external power. ATX power supply will do nicely.

-I installed a toggle switch next to the 34pin IDC. The switch changes pin6 (on the msx) to either pin34 or GND (on the pc drive). Whenever you boot your computer without a disk or cartridge, the computer will hang trying to read the floppy drive. When that happens just flip the toggle switch, or keeping a blank disk inside the drive all the time will do the trick too.

-A small piece of the plastic casing is chipped (see the photo below).

-This model doesn't have MSX-Music built-in, so purchasing a FM-Pac cartridge is recommended if you want that feature.

Yeah, I also have the Famicom one and the XE-1ST2 model. These make great arcade stick for old arcade games and shmups too, especially the 4-way stick for Donkey Kong and Pac-Man.

The XE-1ST2 is great too. Unlike the PRO, this model has 20mm buttons and no auto-fire, but it compatible with wide range of systems like the FM-Towns, PC-8801, MSX, SMS, and Genesis. I seem to do better in games with it compared to my HRAP2, so I modified mine to be neo-geo compatible minus the D button of course. With 3 buttons and start & select/coin its more than enough for a supergun too. Even made a bunch of joystick adaptors so I could play my favorite shmups on my PS2, Saturn, and MSX.
