Have you guys seen this? Here's a link to their recently successful Kickstarter campaign, and here's a link to their website.

  • Create assets with properties and behaviors to give developing for the NES an object-oriented feel, similar to modern tools such as GameMaker and Unity.
  • Use a text editor to create text strings for NPCs or other narrative devices your game might have.
  • Create *special screens* like start screens, end screens, menus, maps, and more.
  • Customize AI
  • Set initialization parameters (items obtained, player strength/defense,  starting screen, etc) for easy testing.
  • Use the base engine to create adventure games, basic RPGs, basic platformers, basic brawlers, and several other types of games.
  • Assemble with one click for testing in an emulator.
  • Flash to cartridge in one click for play on actual hardware.

I don't know, man. I think you might be jumping the gun. Yeah, the day one launch doesn't look great, outside of Zelda and Bomberman (though I'll be buying Snipperclips, too). But very quickly they'll be releasing Puyo Puyo Tetris, Mario Kart 8 Dx, Arms, and Splatoon 2.

I wasn't at all excited about Arms, but Nintendo of Japan just released two videos today that made the game look super fun.

To me, the launch day looks better than PS4's was. All I played on that damn thing for months was Resogun. Launches these days are all about having patience. ;)

I didn't find anything in the search for this, but I thought this was a pretty funny article. I hadn't heard this rumor before, but I'm sure some experts on here probably know all about it. My question is: what if NEC had released something like what GamePro describes below; a 32-bit cart-based console that was backwards compatible with the PC Engine? Sounds like horseshit to me, but again, maybe you guys had heard this before.

Extreme have been leaning more towards making games for consoles. While they do understand the merits of making games for the more widespread smartphone format, they feel that smartphones can't match the expressive powers of a dedicated game console. These feelings are what led to the development of the new Langrisser for the 3DS.

Additionally, Extreme also hope to find a way to bring the excitement of Masaya's brands—which were pretty popular during the '90s—back. They say that their philosophy is to make games for videogame fans. According to Saito, Extreme also considered Cho Aniki and Kaizou Choujin Shubibinman [the prequel to Shockman] but ultimately, they felt that Langrisser would be the best choice for a revival.

Saito mentions that the upcoming Langrisser title will be a little different from previous games in the series, and one of the reasons for this is that Extreme felt it would be no good if they kept things the way they used to be. The company considered asking  Satoshi Urushihara, who did the artwork for the previous Langrisser games, to contribute to the new title, but the reason they ended up going with Hiroshi Kaieda instead is that they felt the need to do something new.

Additionally, Saito says that he is personally a fan of Kaieda's, which contributed to bringing him in. Finally, it is revealed that Extreme also initially thought about keeping the system exactly the same as the earlier Langrisser games, but that has changed as well.

It's a pretty similar premise to Parasol Stars/Bubble Bobble, but you attack by dropping down on enemies. Because of this, the only controls are touching the left of the screen to go left, and the right of the screen to go right. The mechanics take a bit of getting used to, but it's a fun game.

Seriously, I think this game gets overlooked when we talk about the best titles released for the TurboGrafx-16. So I'm gonna break down my case for why Bloody Wolf deserves to be held up there with the elite games for our beloved system...

The answer is simple: the game appears to slow down, but what it's really doing is going into slo-mo so you, the simple-minded gamer, can fully process all the awesomeness without having your mind blown.

We were so close. It was playable at E3 and by all accounts, it was finished. Sure, it may not have been a great game, but whatever. I just wanted to see it released. Unfortunately, Konami shut down Hudson and the game is just sitting there, going to waste. Sad...

Beyond that, I echo the Neutopia sentiment. It would be a nice alternative to the Zelda games. I'll always be a huge Zelda fan, but even I have to admit that the last couple have been my least favorite of the series.

I would also say Dungeon Explorer, but the DS and PSP games sucked ass.

And finally: Cosmic Fantasy. I adore those games, and with Lunar so much attention, it would've been nice for someone to take on Cosmic Fantasy as well.

Wasn't sure where to put this, but I thought some of you might be interested in this game I just downloaded on my 3DS. You can also download it if you have a DSi.

It's basically Parasol Stars with Witches, instead of Bubby and Bobby. And it's got a bit of that Magical Chase art style. Considering those are both pretty good Turbo games, you guys might like it. Best part? It's only $2.

While you're sitting around waiting for Hudson to get off their asses and release Bonk: Brink of Extinction, you may want to check out Chop Chop Caveman, a neat little game for the iPhone that is the closest thing I've seen to a good Bonk game in years. The controls take a bit of getting used to, but I managed to play through the entire thing and once I put some time into it, the controls actually make a lot of sense. There's no on-screen d-pad or buttons or any of that other typical BS. Instead, you simply point where you want the caveman to go, tap the screen to jump, tap on the enemies to attack them, etc. Again, it's a bit frustrating at first, but after some practice I actually think it's a brilliant solution.
