Quote from: guest on 12/27/2017, 02:43 PM1. Cave Story (Switch) - Stuck on the end boss. :(

4. The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time (3DS) - Got caught up playing FFVII instead, I'll go back and finally beat this eventually. But in a year where a stellar open world Zelda game came out, this took a back seat.

6. Bloodborne (PS4) - I'm not sure I will ever beat it.
IMG

1 - which "end boss?" the real end boss or just the doctor? what weapons do you have?

4 - you passed up OoT for GTA Hyrule? I'm so disappointed tucc.
to be fair though, Majora is better.

6 - what weapon are you using? that dictates sooooooooo much of your playstyle.
1. Well the end boss where you have to fight 3 different bosses in a row with no health at all. The second is the doctor and he suxx

4. BotW is more than just GTA Hyrule in that GTA is more limiting than BotW. OoT shows its age and as someone who has no nostalgia for it, it's a bit hard to grasp currently. I usually prefer 2D Zelda games. LttP being my favorite and LBW was a ton of fun, and the original is great.

6. I would use the short hand weapon? THe axe thing. No fucking clue, I may need to start over if I ever try again, I ran out of blood vials.

In all honesty, I really want to get Stardew Valley for Switch but am holding out for a physical version.

Golf Story was pretty cool for the week leading up to Mario Odyssey, I'll get back to it eventually.

But also, isn't there already a Switch thread?

Joe had previously been burned on the Sega Master System in the Winter of '87. When all of his friends were discovering the Mushroom Kingdom for the first time, he was stuck with Alex Kidd and an unfortunate walk to the console to pause for dinner time. His disappointment with video games made him swear off Sega, forever denouncing them as Feka (short for Fuck Sega, in his own words). Though, his quest to side with the underdog followed him soon after. Big Japanese hot shots NEC would release their TurboGrafx 16 just two years later, forever changing the landscape of video games, handheld gaming, and Joe's short lived life B.A.Z. (Before Alpha Zone).

In a last stitch effort to give video games one more shot, he begged and pleaded with his parents to buy him the ultra cool and ultra portable Turbo Express. But on one cool spring day with a full set of AA batteries, a copy of Keith Courage in Alpha Zones, a Crystal Pepsi, some baggy cargo shorts, a brand new Turbo Express, and a desire for some 'tude, his life would change forever. Read this harrowing, exhilarating, and undeniably radical tale of Joe and his total metamorphosis into The TurboMorph.

"I remember the TurboGrafx 16." --Tony Hawk

"I think around '87 I was writing Misery or just finishing it. I can't remember, I was doing a lot of Cocaine. So I have no idea what a turbographics is" --Stephen King

"There are no facts, only interpretations. But it is fact that the TurboGrafx was robbed of true success in America" --Friedrich Nietzsche

"I THINK THE TURBO GRAPHIX GAME OUT IN 1993 BECAUSE THATS WHEN I FIRST SAW IT AND DID YOU KNOW THAT THE GAMES ARE ON THESE CHIPS CALLED HU CARDS HOW COOL IS THAT? I JUST BOUGHT ONE YESTERDAY AND GOOGELD THE WIKI PAGE. IT ALSO HAS A TURBO SWITCH ON IT" --some guy on YouTube

In all seriousness, those repro hu cards look very similar to the ones turbokon was doing awhile back (and is still doing?). Are those an open thing/anyone can do, is PCE Works most likely just ripping this shit off of turbokon, or (not to spew total shit) is turbokon with this at all? I'm stupid and can't be bothered to read previous pages in the thread :)

I'm not sure. Either way, this is obviously totally ludicrous and I honestly don't ever care for their packaging. Start banning people on FB who buy this shit or something already.

Clear 23: Bomberman 93

Finally sat down with a Bomberman game. I've started 94 many times, but decided to give this a go. Had to continue a buttload of times, but I don't care, still counts for me. I had a lot of fun, even if it got a bit tedious at the end. I'll play through the other 2 games sometime soon-ish. Need to get back on the clear train  8)

Oh yeah baby. 576,900

I had been playing lots of the Genesis version and I got over 500k on that one in about 2 tries. Then I come back to the good ole PCE and I have such a good run. I had 300k all on my first life before I started losing a bit of momentum. The first two bosses are actually easy if you know what to do. (destroy all the boss's shooters it has on it and then all it has is one easy spread you can dodge for days). There's a fucking bullshit respawn thing after the 2nd boss where if you die shortly after beating that boss, you have to rebeat it all over again.

My trouble now is figuring out that 3rd crab boss, fuck is it hard and fast. I may need to switch to the blue weapon on that one. Some day I'll beat this game, some day

Sorry for the monster picture, I'll fix it when I'm not on my phone. A group of friends in my dorm and I all played this over the course of the past few weeks. After typing in passwords after passwords, we did it. It was amazing and we are all looking forward to playing part 2!

Clear 21: PC Genjin 3/Bonk 3

Pretty much my first time trying this game out and I beat it with at least 3 or 4 lives leftover. Was pretty easy overall. I enjoyed the big/small aspects. The new mini games were hit or miss, some were easy and fun, others were hard and stupid. I agree with the "not as good as the others" sentiment. I don't hate it at all, I actually enjoyed it despite how long it felt. Anyway, I couldn't snap a decent picture so I'll include a nice looking snap of the game in my new briefcase setup :)

Nice Bomberman clear! I've been meaning to sit down with 93 and 94 sometime soon. They're both great but I want to see them through to the end. Did you continue at all?

Clear 20: Lords of Thunder 1cc

I was lagging with the GotW but I finally did it. Not too difficult on normal. I think I still like Gate of Thunder more, but this game was a blast to play! Sucks there's no cool end screen and that you can't tell your high score without pausing right before the final boss falls, but the end cutscenes do look pretty cool.

IMG

Bumping this old thread because I just rearranged my dorm and am pretty happy with it for a few reasons. 1) Because the setup is great for me and everything is neat and tidy. 2) Because I've got all the gaming machines I've been wanting/could ever want and have them all in perfect/playable positions. I have no idea how I got good grades last year, but this should be no different. I like to think of this as the "stress-reliever" section :)

Obviously this isn't everything, but right now my dorm gaming station is looking much better than anything I had back home. Not all the games are here, but there are certainly enough.

Quote=Area 7
-Layout of world is as follows:
=it's rather linear, there is a maze NE of town.
=a path leads out of the maze and passes a number of significant locations:
  =an empty house
=a cave on the north side
=the path ends at an enclosed beach and lake.
-You will have to rescue a girl in the maze
-When you reach the palace, there is a KEY very cleverly hidden in one of the corners of the place...it is in the dead-end corner just after the right hand bridge in the center of the first floor of the palace.
-another clever hidden thing, there is a TREE (only one in this world) to the W of the maze, just after the first town.
-eventually enter cave north(NC) and talk all, back to town – talk all, back to NC, back to town, when leaving town...new member joins.
-go to P door...do all you can then go to NC, then town then NC again and get what looks like a wand.
-back to town...all NPCs have moved from SW home to SE home, event – marriage?
-back to NC return wand?, at P someone arrives and opens door, explore all you can...next door opening warps you to FM...talk all...try P door again, same warp to FM, talk at town, event at main house, go back to P, rescue another NPC, warp to cave, talk all here and back at town, then go to bookcase at HNFM...talk all, then back to P.
-explore palace area, lots here. Do what you can then eventually meet a character at FM, then back to HNFM
-get leaf from tree west of HNFM, back to HNFM and get item (bottle).
-Back to NC, revive character, then back to P and finish loose ends.
-at golden statues...various combinations of worn items are what turn the statues grey. After this the blue warp tiles are activated. I recommend having a bunch of healing capsules and hopefully you still have some bottles with the healing elixir left. Working your way through the tiles leads to the side-scroll stage...this is the toughest one yet.
-this is what you need to do to get the statues to go all grey:
=touch statue 5 normally with all equipment unequipped
   =touch statue 1 ...
   =touch statue 2
   =touch statue 3
   =touch statue 6
   =touch statue 4
(in this case, touch means 'talk')

=Area 8
-a very mountainous world. Weapons get pricey so make sure you have lots of spare gems
-there are a number of 'slave farms' along with slaves, traders, and fields and houses for each.
-you can get keys to get into the overseer's and slave's homes.
-Pyrra;s hosue is at the far north. You will have to scale the wall. Try going up in a diagonal zig-zag motion to avoid falling rocks.
-lots of ladders. Boarded up mine entrances, starting at church. There is a house east with an old man/girl NE(EOM), cemetary easy, blocked entrance just NE of church. House after scalable cliffs NW (HSC). Slaves/traders SW. 2 sets of slaves (SH1)(SH2) traders (T). AND A BLOCKED PATH (BP). Large building west (LBW) 2 small cabins attached just south of LBW. Items are expensive but with having and leveling up.
-lots of back and forth between areas, particularly 'traders'/'slaves' and the east old man with girl NNE (EOM)
-get key at scalable cliffs use at desk of bookcase in HSC, access HSC with ladders. Lots of back and forth...2nd time at EOM you should get what looks like a piece of cloth...pay the money to enter the slave/trader area...Eventually you can access each desk in the overseer rooms of those 'slave' homes. You could always enter that room but nothing much happened, eventually after trying all sorts of stuff with/without weapons, when tried to access the overseer room in the 'slave' house closest to the church. I was warped to the 'traders' house. Should the piece of cloth and 2 keys. The man at EOM forges them for you I believe.
-After that and having the keys mentioned above, I could access each desk (only once) in both 'slave' homes, when you do you don't get an item just text. I don't believe the keys were used yet, just that the particular event has taken place.
-After that you need to talk to the slaves in the homes...I did it getting caught and without getting caught, after they march back, wait till they enter and the overseer is out of sight, talk to all slaves...if morning arrives while you're still in there you will be warped back to the 'traders' house...you have just about enough time to get the information you want and get out...I did it both ways, not sure if that's necessary, also talked to them in the fields after...then go to the EOM, get item, then go to the W end to the man blocking path at bottom of ladder, give item and you can then pass by.
-explore west side...go to LBW, event, party breaks up. Talk all, this includes: slaves both at night and in fields. Go to EOM...get bottle. This bottle will put 2 traders to sleep...then go to HSC...get what item (looks like grapes) back to T, give item and while he is out of building go to his bed...get item, when he returns you get ring.
-give ring to 2-114 slave at west most slave house SH2. Back to LBW and reform party.
-Now go to mine south of LBW, open entrance, talk all. Visit store...text exchange, then go to EOM. Talk all...back to west mine. Then visit the left most grave in cemetary, new text. Back to EOM, talk girl, event, then talk all again.
-things have now changed...back to T need to pay bucks to enter again. Talk all...talk all slaves again, particularly SH2, continue West...explore all here eventually, back to EOM...event, he leaves. I explored and talked to everyone again while looking for him, he is now at back of cemetary...event...enter and explore. There are trapdoor floors and hidden passages.

=Area 9
-extremely linear and easy area here.
-not many people to talk to, just continue to talk with everyone again and again and you'll make steady progress.
-not much of significant difficulty, this area is primarily a action/fighting type stage.

=Area 10
 -Desert land
-You'll need to interact with a number of characters, some only at night (roof top-left). The land is layed out like this...
-a town plus 4 pyramids in a diamond shape with 4 stones in the middle of the diamond. A simple representation follows: (picture taken from another guide that SamIAm posted that I think is better)
IMG

-Once you get an amulet/chestplate? You should be able to move the statues in front of the pyramid entrances. At some point you will need to enter the pyramids. Ensure you talk to everyone, particularly it appears the kids/students on the 2nd floor, left most room (library?).
-Entrance to pyramids require all 8 statues face in the compass direction of the one you wish to enter. Ex...all 8 need to face right/east to enter the east/right pyramid. Once mini-bosses are defeated and you get the harp.
-talk to all in town. You need to free Argos and your party has to form into 5 members. Once the 4 adventurers leave you'll need to go find them. They will be located on a border square, roughly between the S/E pyramids. It's a wasteland square. Just outside of the diamod. Talk to them and wait until sunset...there should be a large shadow moving from east to west, an event will occur an take you to the new area.

NECTARSIS WINS

Up for grabs is the Arcade Card version of Strider for PCE. Comes with a spine that is slightly faded. Not sure when I'll end this, so for now that is TBD.

-Minimum post count of 200. No turds please.
-You are not allowed to sell it. If you don't want it anymore, please re-raffle it off.
-You must play it and give it a go. I'm raffling it off because I no longer play it.

THE VOTES ARE IN, I'LL BE RAFFLING OFF BRAVELY DEFAULT! Great choice. I had fun with it when I had it, but I'm raffling it for a reason. This comes with the cartridge and case. I believe there was a small insert in it (which is included).

Let me know who wants in. I'll end this in about a week or so. And I'll be home the week after to obtain and ship the game out. Anyone can enter. Prefer to ship to CON US, but international people may just be asked to pitch a few bucks in for shipping. Nothing too bad.

This image is on their indiegogo. Bleh, i hate it. It looks like shit and is confusing. Red X's mean what? They don't have it? They do but it's a negative for them? (I mean, I do understand it, but it just blows). Also, all other systems having their own controllers they label as "theirs" being a negative? Even though, as pointed out above, it's pretty similar to a Wii U controller.

There will be no system updates for the Retro VGS? What does Transferable Games even mean?

IMG

Whatever, their Indiegogo is already at $40k.

EDIT: This is my favorite part. If you pay $500 you get a Retro VGS with a low serial number starting with 1. LOL. 6 people have already bought that.

It would be nice if there were two separate lists, one for clears and one for your collection. But I guess this thread does just fine :)

Clear 18: Street Fighter II

I've owned this for quite a little while and finally beat it. With Ryu on normal. Not that great at the fighting games. It's one of the most cleared games on pcedai so I figured I'd give it a shot finally and sit down and play through the whole thing. Thankfully still finding time to play some Turbo while at school. Workload hasn't kicked in high gear yet, so I have some time to get some more games cleared.

Nice score. I died a few times on the 6th stage. The part where there are those two bosses shooting the three way blue bullets is trickey.

This was normal mode, pressing run straight from turning on the console. I've gotten better after playing Santalantean a lot. Finally got good at the shark boss and even got to stage 4. Hopefully plan on beating it tonight because there were 4 stages from what I remember.

Previous score is 69,335.

Edit: New score, 91,685! Beat it too. Didn't break 100k, so I guess I need to get better at saving those Atlanteans. But it feels good to beat it. Still on just Normal mode. Maybe next time I'll up the difficulty. The shark boss became really easy once I had it down. Same with all of the bosses really. Last one only took me 2 tries. It was pretty gut wrenching, as any last level can be in any game. I know for sure that I absolutely love the tunes in the game. Wish I had tried a little harder to get my initials on future Atlantean copies, but oh well.
