ENDING 2/28/2014 SOMETIME IN THE MORNING..

Up for raffle is a gamer's condition Dragon Slayer - The Legend of Heroes. There is no manual, it is only a photocopy of the front and back of an original manual.  The back insert is also a photocopy of an original. The disc itself has been resurfaced and has been tested on all my systems, 2 Turbo CDs, a U.S. Duo and a Duo-R.  I also tested it on member oldskool's Duo and unfortunately it didn't work on his. There is always a chance that it won't work with your system as it didn't work on oldskool's.

UPDATE: BlueBMW was kind enough to pass on a manual and case for it, so now it will be raffled as a complete copy of the game. There's a three way swapping kind of deal between Blue, another member and I to get the manual and case all worked out. Everything pictured already will be shipped by me and an original case and manual will be shipped by the other member who has it to the winner.  (strange eh?)  lol

I will cover shipping worldwide.

I know there is already a "good deals" thread but I was hoping this might get a little more attention as the deal seemed pretty damn good.  For those of you still looking for Hudson's CD Game Music Collection '93, Ninjascastle on eBay letting them go for what I see as pretty damn cheap.

It's listed for sale for GBP 16.95 ($25.86) + GBP 2.95 ($4.50) shipping or a total of $30.36 US. I thought I'd try with a lowball offer of GBP 9.00 + the GBP 2.95 he's asking for shipping. That's $18.69 shipped in U.S. currency. It instantly auto accepted.  I have no idea how much lower he has it set to auto accept to but if anyones looking to get it, my suggestion is get it now. It does say there are more than 10 available currently.

If anyone does offer less and it accepts, can you please post so others know how low they can really offer? This way people will get it as cheap as possible.

I thought I'd try something a little different as a raffle prize.  Up for raffle is an original United Amusements TG-16 Installation Guide and Service Manual for Coin Application. It is obviously old and a few of the pages are falling out.  There are seven inserts that came with it when I got it (TurboGram Service Bulletins and other inserts). There should be a link somewhere on the forums if you'd like to see what's inside this thing but I'm too lazy to look for it.  It's basically how to set up the Turbografx-16 arcade machine, tools needed, warranty info, system mounting, wiring and more.

[Off-Topic / Daily RANT (What pissed you off today?)]

Inspired by a morning news blurb that happens daily here in town.  What's pissing you off today?


RANT!
Had a rough morning, got in the car and on my way. Was running a little late so I was speeding (just a little).  I'm in the fast lane and I'm about to pass a car in the slower lane.  As I'm passing the rear of the car, I can barely see the blinker blink once.  She doesn't look over her shoulder at all and starts to come into my lane.  I stomp on the gas, as I was already passing her, and if I hit the brakes she probably would have hit me. She pulls her head out of her ass and jerks her car back into her lane.  I give her the finger and a few choice words. Very shortly after I am turning off and she passes by me cussing at me and flipping me the bird...

WTF?  Look CUNT you let your fucking blinker blink once, you came into the lane that I was already in without looking almost causing an accident.  It was your fault and you're a fucking idiot, don't act like the shit was my fault. FUCK YOU!  /END RANT.


RANT 2!
Not this Monday but the previous Monday I was in the shower before work.  My phone rings, which is odd for the morning so I knew something wasn't right.  I didn't finish my shower and started drying off to see who called. As I'm drying off, it rings again...  Aww fuck, this can't be good. My wife starts off the phone call with, "first off, he's ok, but our son (he's 16) has been in a motorcycle accident".  I find out where and I'm out the door like lightning. The missed call was actually from my son, after the accident.

I get to the scene, get my son in my truck, and make sure he's ok.  I get his side of the story.

So basically my sons story is:  My son rides into the school parking lot, and its going down the lane. The other vehicle pops out from behind two parked cars, driving across the parking lot, not in a lane but crossing the lanes.  My son sees him pop out and jams on the brakes, the car sees my son and jams on the brakes also.  The car stops dead center of the driving lane across it and my son has nowhere to go but to hit the car. He hits the car, flys off the bike and lands on his leg.

The other kid tells the police some bullshit story (about how it wasn't his fault) that totally contradicts the evidence and the school police write the kid a ticket for wreckless driving. The school police check the parking lot video cameras and the whole thing is on video (thank god).  They tell me my kids story was 100% correct and there was nothing my son could have done any better. So now my son has a fucked up knee, is in pain and missing school.

The icing on the cake is that after my kid hit the car, is laying on the ground, telling people who ran up to help, to call 911.  The other little fucker jumped out of his car and is telling people "fuck that, don't call anyone, I don't need this shit." He then moves his car from the accident scene a short distance away and the witness's called 911 anyway.

My son, who saved his own money to buy his motorcycle almost new (it had 600 miles on it) and paid a full year of insurance with his own money.  A responsible kid gets fucked by some little prick who borrowed mommy's car for the day.  Hey you little irresponsible lying prick, from both myself and my son, my lawyer has already started the paperwork for the lawsuit.  FUCK YOU /END RANT 2

Ran across this spelling error after beating Dungeon 03 on Double Dungeons. WTF is DEFEATEA? Pretty obvious they meant defeated. What other Turbo related spelling errors have other people caught?

[Off-Topic / Splatterhouse partially to blame for gun violence?]

So NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre steps up and has something to say about the current tragedy.
According to him, some of the things to blame for our coutries string of violence are the media, music, video games (including Splatterhouse) and government.

LaPierre referenced "vicious, violent" video games, citing Grand Theft Auto, Bullet Storm, Mortal Kombat, and Splatterhouse, as components of a "callous and corrupt shadow industry that sells and stows violence against its own people."

Now I don't know about any of you guys, but I can't say that I've ever popped in Splatterhouse and thought violently. To me it's just a game.

He also said that we should have armed guards in schools and this will help with the problem.  Really?  What about when that officer goes on break or lunch?  What about when that armed guard is on one side of the school and the bad guy goes in the other side?  These horrible situations take literally seconds to happen, not minutes or hours.

I think there should be better background checks on people buying guns.  Not that this is a fix all, but it's a start. Maybe if they would stop slapping criminals on the wrist when they commit a crime, the criminals might give it a second thought before committing crimes. Criminals tend to have more rights then the victims do and walk away after they "serve their time", while the victims spend the rest of their lives looking over their shoulder and in fear of the day the person that victimized them is released.

Surely an emotional topic for most people and one surely for fighting street.  For me, I love guns, I own guns and I believe in my right to protect my family with a gun or any other means necessary.  What say you about guns, media, music, government and video games?

I also have some empty cases, instruction manuals, plastic sleeves and a few common Turbo loosies + Salamander and a Son Son II loosie. I was considering throwing up a thread in the sale area to see if anyone is interested in trading for any of it. I don't want to sell any of it, I just want to trade for loosies that I don't have. (I don't want manuals, sleeves, boxes or cases.) I'd like them in gamers condition.

Everything is in the pictures aside from the cases, loosies, sleeves. I will take more/better pics and give more details on each item if this ends up hitting a trade thread.

Works perfect but does have a scratch on the top of the case (you can see it in the first pic), also missing the back cover. Has the A/C and Bomberman 94 is included.  I believe I have a matching controller to go with it but I'll have to double check.  There are no scratches on the screen, it's just a reflection when I took the picture.  Currently it's up on eBay for $400 but will take $375 shipped from anyone here.

Up for sale is Bonk 3 CD.  Disc is in good condition with only a tiny bit of scratching.  Manual is in beautiful condition.  Case condition is good.  The original back insert has bad water damage.  HOWEVER, I made a color photo copy of my good back insert and put it in a new cd case with the manual and CD since the original looks so horrible.  I will include both the old water damaged back insert and original case as well as the new case with photo copied back insert just so you can have the original also and a nicer looking one.  I took several large pics so you can get a good look at everything.  In the pic with the two Bonk 3's you can compare the original (on the left) to the photo copied back insert (on the right).  If you have any questions free to ask.  Price:  Make offer

[PCE/TG-16|CD/SGX Discussion / Failure!]

Had Oldskool over last night for some Turbo fun.  We decided on some Legend of Hero Tonma a go.  We got stuck quite a few times on different levels playing 2 player (this game can be a bitch).  Old was on the Castle level and I was on the level right before the castle when Old decides to fiddle with the controller and BAM!  Select-Run RESET.   DAMN that function, just damn it!   

Although it's great to be able to reset the system without getting up to hit a button on the console it sure can be a pain in the ass.  I know it's probably happened to all of us before a few times.  Usually it's when you're pretty far into a game.  Any of the times it's happened to you stick out?  Let's hear it!

In my time being here (and other sites also) there has always seemed to be tension between all of these different types of people that enjoy gaming/collecting in their own way.  From what I have seen it usually seems like the gamers tend to be more vocal about not liking the collectors.  Personally I considered myself to be a collector and a gamer evenly.  I love to play the games but I also like to have what I consider a complete collection.

What are you? What are your thoughts on it?

I always see the demo disc in peoples want lists and am trying to find out some more info on it.  A search of the forums wasn't very productive at all.  It's listed on daisakusen with only one owner (Adol) and we all know that anything posted by Adol isn't very reliable.  I realize the possibility of it existing is probable but there is a severe lack of information on it.  Has anyone ever actually seen the demo in person, have any pics of the disc or own it?

Back when I was buying games on eBay I noticed that there wasn't a category for Turbo games like there were with other systems.  Thinking it might be a little easier for everyone to be able to have a Turbo section instead of having to do searches I contacted eBay to ask how to get it added.  The customer service person walked me through how to do a suggestion.  Today I checked and its actually there, yippy!  Hopefully in a little time people will actually put the games in the right section making it easier to find Turbo games instead of doing searches.

So now if you actually go into games and do a search by platform, Turbografx is there as a box to check.  Cool!

I happen to check the sold Turbo stuff just noticed this on Ebay:

$75 for just the cd?  Its the first time I ever seen the CD version of the game and have no clue what they go for?  Is this a fair price for just the cd?  What does the complete version go for?

Common sense, does it exist any more?  Lets discuss some of the stupid people we have all dealt with or things that morons do that just plain piss you off.

Driving:  Don't pull out of a fucking shopping center when there are cars coming.  You don't have the right of way.
Driving:  If you don't know the rules of the road, get a book from DMV you fucking asshat.

Story:   I used to drive a cab here in Vegas for awhile.  I pick up two ladies that are in their early 20s and get on our way to wherever it was they wanted to go.  As always I am making a little small talk to pass the time.  Then one of them asks me a question.  She says "Where we are from there are lines on the road separating the lanes, why do you have those dots?"  Now being the smartass that I am, I remembered an old joke and thought it might surely get a laugh.  So I tell the lady's, "Its like Braille, so blind people can drive."  Now I am expecting them to chuckle but what do they both say at the same time?  "OOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH!!!!"  As if what I said made absolute sense to them.  I couldn't contain myself and busted out in hysterical laughter.  They had no idea what was so funny.  AMAZING!

[PCE/TG-16|CD/SGX Discussion / Happy Day!]

So I run into a guy at the post office the other day when I was shipping out a Sega CDX i sold on eBay.  I get talking to him and tell him I am really a Turbografx nut.  So he says he has a TG CD in his shed.  I asked him if he was interested in selling it and he said sure.  So he calls me today and says he pulled it out but doesn't have an A/C adapter to test it.  I ask him how much he wants for it and he says $100 for the TG-16, the CD and 10 games.   So I tell him I have a A/C to test it and to just bring it over. 

He brings it to my house and I hook it up.  It has power but the CD wont spin.  I play with it a little bit but cant get it working.  I told him I wasn't willing to pay $100 for it not working.  So he says ok, give me $40.  I agree to give him $40 and pay him.  I play with it a little more but still cant get it to work.  Sooooo I call up Windancer and ask him if he has any ideas since Im clueless and have never opened a CD up before.  So I open it up and Windancer guides me along with what to look for and what to do.  He tells me to take the gear and spin it so the laser moves all the way to one end.  Which I did.  I put it all back together and plugged it all in and BINGO!  So $40 into it and less than 10 minutes worth of work and I have a new treasure!  So ended up with an entire TG-16 CD setup with 10 games for $40!

So I cleaned everything up and tried to plug it in and it was stuck again.  I opened it back up again and moved the laser and once again it worked just fine.  What type of lubricant should I put on it so it wont stick?

[PCE/TG-16|CD/SGX Discussion / US Customs/Homeland Security]

So I am pretty new here but wanted to throw out a rant to all collectors.  Here we go!  So I got lucky and found 7 new/sealed Turbografx-16 games in South America and order them.  I am excited every day to check the mail and couldn't wait for them to get here and today they did.  The box was a bit beat up and but i couldn't wait to open it.  As I bring it into the house to check out my new games I notice something odd.  The boxed is resealed with US Homeland Security tape.  This is where I start getting worried.  So I open up the box and what do I find?  They opened one of the games!  No they didnt take their time to open it and even ripped the game box doing it.  Granted it could have been worse, they could have opened all of them.

Sure I know this is part of keeping us all safe but I have a few problems with this.  First off, cant you just take the extra second and open it carefully?  Second, after you remove the contents of my package cant you package everything back up safely so some of the other game boxes don't get crushed also?  Yes a couple of the other game boxes were crushed.
