Hi all :)

I just want to know if ANYONE (Hudson, a third party, etc.) ever made a TurboGrafx 16 or PC Engine Cleaning Kit.

Mainly, I would want one to clean the contacts in the chip slot of my TG 16 and the contacts in the chip slot of my Japanese --> US Hucard Converter (and in the chip slot of a PC Engine system or a Duo if I ever get one - I'd hate to get one of those and NOT be able to clean the system contacts; I'd feel like I was making my Chips dirty by putting them in there :( ).

Does anybody have any clue who made them, how well each brand worked, and where could you buy one today online?  O:)
(obviously, if you have one that works well, please chime in)

Hi again all.

I'm on the verge of buying the PC Engine / Turbografx Flash Cart that nat recomended in a previous thread of mine (the 64 Meg PC Engine Neo Flash cart from ic2005.com).

But I have some essential questions before I take the plunge :

1. Is ic2005.com a reliable online retailer? If the flash cart doesn't work when I get it, I can return it, correct?

Is there ANY other place (just in case) you can buy the 64 Meg Neo PC Engine Flash cart? (if you have had a good experience with another retailer offering the flash cart, please tell me)

2. Is it true that you need to rewrite the ENTIRE flash cart if you want to change anything on the cart? (adding or deleting ROMS)

3. Which PC Engine / Turbografx ROM extensions does this particular flash cart support? (The only one I know of so far is ".pce")
Are there any other ones it supports?

4. Is there any difference in video or sound quality between a original hucard version of a specific game played on a TG 16 and that same game as a ROM on a PCE Flash cart played on the same TG 16?
Any other things like static? graphical glitches, etc in the flash cart version compared to a original hucard? (assuming of course the ROM is not a bad dump ;)

5. Finally, I've read some other threads here on the 64 Meg Neo Flash PC Engine Flash carts (this one specifically) where some people say it does NOT work on a normal USA TG16 and OTHER people have it work just perfectly on their US Tg16s -_- (note: just a TG 16, no cd attachment, tho in my case I will have a Turbo Booster there)

So is there an inherent problem using this particular flash cart on a CD-less ;) USA TG 16? If there is, how do you get around it / make it work reliably (or at least as reliably as possible   )

Thanks! :)

Hi :) Quick question: Does the USA chip Parasol Stars save (on internal CD system memory or a Turbo Booster Plus)?

Someone linked me to a gamesave FAQ (on turbo.mindrec.com) which said that PS didn't save at ALL, but then I found some threads that mentioned it DOES have a save feature -_-

SO which is it?  :D (oh and if it does save, does it save actual game progress?)

Finally, is there a FAQ/list/forum post /whatever that lists which games REALLY have save features? ;) (if the one I mentioned is inaccurate)

Hi there  O:)

Two main questions here.

What I want to know is:

1.    - the various options (various available HuCard type products) for *backing up game save data* (on my USA TG16 with Turbo Booster PLUS and I have a PCE-->TG16 chip converter if it's necessary)

So far, the only one I know about is the Tennokoe Bank Hucard (powered by a battery, not a capacitor or some other kind of memory, correct?)

Any other Hucard type products you would care to recommend for this purpose? :)

and also I wanted to know: (perhaps even more important)

2.    - the options (various HuCard type products) to simply MANAGE game save data (that is, to be able to SEE and DELETE game save files, as well as see their NAMES, FILE SIZE, and AVAILABLE MEMORY LEFT)

and without having to wait until the memory runs out of space to do that ^^ (Order of the Griffon and Falcon ;)

Normally, I would just go get a cheap System card 2.0 for this except someone mentioned before that it does not show the file SIZES or how much memory is left -_-      (only file names, that IS correct, yes?)

BTW, the Tennokoe Bank DOES let you view and delete in the Turbo Booster PLUS memory with ALL of the following, correct?
File name, File SIZE, Available memory left

If the battery in the Tennokoe Bank dies, would I still be able to view / delete game save data in the Turbo Booster Plus? (or doees it stop working completely if the battery goes)

I would be using anything you recommend on my USA TG 16 with Turbo Booster PLUS. (and if necessary, my PCE-->TG16 chip converter)

(those 2 functionalities #1 and #2 may or may not be in the same card tho ;)

Please recommend away ^_^

BTW, I posted this here and in the TG 16 Forum since neither forum is super active ;)

Hi there. I have a couple questions about the Turbo Booster PLUS and the Tennokoe Bank (am I spelling this right?? ;-)   I hope you guys can help me with.  O:)

1. How does the PLUS actually save your game? I mean inside the Plus is there:
      - a EEPROM? (no battery or power source needed),
      - some flash memory? (no battery or power source needed),
      - S-RAM with a SAVE Battery? (battery needed for power and you lose saves when it dies),
      - some kind of capacitor? (no battery but you have to charge it up)

2. Whatever it uses, how long do the saves last in a Turbo Booster PLUS? (if it has a battery in there)

3. If it uses some kind of capacitor, how long do you need the system on to fully "charge it up"? And once it is fully charged, how long will it hold saves? (a month? a year?)

4. Finally, is it true there is no menu / screen to let you organize / delete saves off the TB Plus? So how do you know when it's almost full? (and you won't be able to save at some point ;)

5. The Tennokoe Bank hucard, btw, what does IT have inside it to let you save on it? (a battery? ,EEPROM? Flash memory? , a capacitor?)
(I have a USA TG 16 btw and I DO have a PC Engine to TG 16 converter to use it with)

6. How much is a Tennokoe Bank nowadays? and do they tend to be reliable?

Thanks! :D

Anybody know of any FORUMS for the PC Engine and / or Turbo Grafx-16?

I can't seem to find many forums with either the whole forum or even just a smaller category in the forum devoted to the PC Engine and / or Turbo Grafx-16.

Does anyone know of any?

BTW, if you know of a forum where people know a lot about PC Engine / Turbo grafx-16 stuff but it is not strictly a TG 16 / PC Engine forum, please list it anyway ;)

(For example, if it was labelled as a "Classic Gaming" section of a forum but people there knew a lot about PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 stuff, list it :)

What are some good online sites / stores to buy PC Engine games from?

I was just wondering if anyone here knew of some good online sites / stores to buy PC Engine games (Japanese Turbo Grafx-16 games) from? (primarily thinking of PC Engine CHIP games but also CDs ;-)

(in addition to EBay of course)

Anyone know any?
