On a side note, should I watch Police Academy 2, 3, etc?

Serious question here. I was bidding on Gladius for the Gamecube. The final bid was $13.50 + 2.63 for shipping. At the very least it's $16 anywhere in the US.

Meanwhile, I saw a BIN for Gladius for $15.99, cheaper than the game + shipping, with a "Make Offer" option. I asked for a few dollars off the price, and got it, paying substantially less than the final bidders would have on an auction game.

Why oh why were these people bidding up a game higher than you could buy it instantly? I don't understand it, except only that they must be getting dumber and dumber all the time.

Anyone else have this experience?

Can anyone recommend a modder for NGCD, Atari 7800, NES, or ColecoVision?

Guys, I just can't get into this game. I know it's a huge phenomenon in Japan, and I really wanted to love me a new Namcot game, but I don't know, am I just too American for this title? It's not clicking with me. It's a tad...on the boring side, maybe? And this is coming from someone who loves 2600 games.

What can I do to maximize my love for this game?

Rules: Be a member in good standing here longer than a month with more than 20 posts (exceptions can be granted) that aren't about raffles.

Unfortunately, my DuckTales cart is cracked a bit. It's been glued before, but that didn't last. I don't want to throw it out, so if anyone wants to take on the glue job the cart is all yours. Comes with a GB clamshell case, too.

Not really, but since there's a PS4 and PS3 thread, and those consoles suck, might as well talk about the last great console here.

Which is better? Yes, I know Sigma and Hori trump both, but just between these two, which is the superior build?

I have City Hunter here. Apparently a Hamilton was too much to ask for it, so I figured it should go for free! If you're new, you're still OK, but anyone who is here more for raffles or BST than the community I won't add. If you want to get rid of it, just reraffle it.

Two weeks for this one.

A day late for anniversary celebrations, but I thought I'd point out that for its 20th anniversary, Jason Dvorak aka Dangerboy over at Game-Rave made this pretty awesome video:

Buy/Sell/Trade / Going rate for PC-FX?
06/27/2015, 08:35 PM
I was wondering what the going rate for PC-FX and games are these days? What's expensive, what's cheap? What would be a good price for the machine? Also, if a guy can hook me up with a bunch of games at ebay prices, would it be worth it to bring them here just to distribute them? I'm not really familiar with this system, and I couldn't find any threads going back to 2012 in this subforum or the other.

Dear gracious PCEFX users, I have up for raffle two Hucards, R-Type I & II. These originally came from spenoza's raffle, but upon realizing (which I just should have known) that R-Type II was actually R-Type part two, I'm keeping my R-Types CD instead. So back to the community these go, but now with a bonus. I have a bunch of games I was about to list for sale, but a few of them can go into small flat-rate boxes. Winner will have a choice: free R-Type I & II shipping on me, or a quasi-mystery box where you only pay shipping.

The same rules apply. Please don't own R-Type already, or if you do, see if you can give that back to the community somehow. No new members who are only here for B/S/T/R. No assholes or Xak.

See update: https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=19042.msg406771#msg406771

Does anyone have a joystick of some sort compatible with the PC Engine Duo? Final call for this before I get one of the above recommendations.

Looking at the stats, it appears that this site quadrupled its member registrations in 2014 from 2013, most of which occurred in December. Anyone know a reason why that might be? Was the site touted big time somewhere? Was this a giant spam attack?
#26
Up for raffle is R-Types CIB (and spotless) for the PS1. Now that I have R-Type 1 & 2 on the PC Engine, I figured I'd give this away to anyone who wants it. I don't need both!

Since I got these from spenoza, I'm following his raffle rules.

To enter, make a reply in this thread indicating you are interested, and that you agree to follow the raffle rules below. If you think these rules are stupid and you aren't interested in adhering to them, do not enter the raffle.

You must not already own R-Type or R-Type II. If you do, you must raffle them away. Don't be a collectard and hog all the R-Type games.

You may not sell, trade, or otherwise give away the raffle prize, with the following exceptions:
You may re-raffle here on the forums.
You may give to a Turbo/PCE noob who is still new to the console and doesn't already have R-Type (and has the necessary hardware to play it). Said noob must also agree to be bound by the no-sale/trade rules of the raffle and not be a dick.

You may not intentionally feed R-Type to your dog (or cat [or cavy/rodent/bird/dinosaur/trained bear/younger siblings]). [Addendum: You must not boil or eat the manual or disc.]

Valued/important members of the community will get an extra entry (or more, if they are super-awesome) at spenoza's discretion. (And just why on earth don't you have R-Type already?)

You must be in good standing with the PCEFX community at large with a minimum post count of 250. If your most-posted forum or thread is a sales/raffle thread I reserve the right to exclude you.

I reserve the right to exclude anyone I want from the raffle for whatever reason I want. Per Wil Wheaton, "Don't be a dick." And in light of recent events, don't be a tool, either.

Enjoy!

I'm doing the once unthinkable and considering selling off all my Turbo cases (the plastic ones, not the cardboard; I already do not have any cardboard) or raffling the ones I won in raffles (if needed).

I ended up with a few homeless hueys now, and I'm starting to consider chucking cases in order to save space. So, my question is twofold:

Is it worth the money to shell out the cash to rehome the hueys? Even while I'm running out of space?

What should I do with them once the cases are gone? What are the best storage options?

I was thinking of something like card sleeves, which is where I keep my Game Boy games, but I also really like the fact that my Lynx and Game Gear games are in portable carrying cases.

Thoughts?

Up for raffle is one Dungeon Explorer box cardboard box. galam sent me this game, but the cardboard life is not for me. Some of yous for whatever reason love collecting biodegradable stiffened paper, so this here thing is for you.

Rules for entry: No douchenozzles, vulture resellers, VGA fans/fiends, or only here for the marketplace. Must have 250+ posts to enter, or 100+ posts if this is your first or second raffle.

Drawing March 22nd.

While I currently own Sagaia for my FEKA, I was thinking of getting Darius II for the Saturn. I saw, however, that the PCECD version has some awesome rockin' tunes. Besides the music, just how different are these two? Is it worth it to upgrade from Sagaia to either? Both? The Saturn version is less than half the price of the PCECD version. I don't really want both, but if they're that different, I might be persuaded to do so.

I appreciate any advice.

Buy/Sell/Trade / PCE CD Repros?

Buy/Sell/Trade / PC Engine Duo bit
11/28/2014, 12:55 PM
I bought a bit off ebay that specifically said it worked with Duos, but it doesn't. I'm not sure if that's because Turbo Duos and PC Engine Duos need different bits or they just flat out were lying, but I don't think I want to chance another buy off some random seller on ebay or Amazon. Does anyone here have one they could sell me?

I think I know what's wrong, but just in case, I'll check with here first. I was playing a burned game (Dracula X, burned at 4x speed, 700 MB disc) and all of a sudden, the laser sounded like it was clicking, and it never loaded the next screen (I was showing off the PCE Duo to a friend who had never played Drac X before :( ). Now, the disc won't spin, the laser won't move. Is it absolutely dead? I tried giving it a tiny nudge, but didn't want to break it further in case it can be fixed instead of replaced. I hadn't heard anything about burned games breaking the laser on the Duo (and that myth was debunked concerning the Dreamcast), was that it? The caps were recently replaced by our very own Keith Courage, so that's not likely the problem.

Thoughts? If I need to replace, I saw that the stickied thread link was no longer working, is there a certain kind I should get/need to check for?
#37
What games that I have on NES/Famicom (presume I have them all) should I replace with Turbo/PC Engine games? I'm thinking naturally Dragon Spirit, Gradius, Image Fight, and Tiger Heli, but are there others? Are any different enough to warrant keeping? I kept two Dragon Spirit games: one on the PC Engine and one on the NES because the latter was just a bit different from the former, but these days I'd rather just play the PC Engine one. Anything like that, or even more different? What should go, what should stay?

Does anyone have a complete one? Just got a Duo and I'm itching to play some games that require it. I'm getting a feeling that the $40+ BINs on eBay are hooks for suckers or those without patience.
