I moved the photos from photobucket to google photos.  If they don't work, let me know.  If they go down in the future, that means Google has gone under and it will be too late for us all at that point.

Quote from: farankoshan on 01/30/2018, 12:24 PMHi! Just noticed... are the photos hosted on photobucket? Does this mean to be able to view the photos, we need to pay USD$10 with photobucket?

Just wanted to make sure my browser wasn't screwing up.
I'll see if I can move them somewhere else. Didn't realize they limited their usage.

Yeah, I stopped looking a while back when prices started to climb.  Last time I looked $5 commons were going for $40+.  I assume once the 30somethings have their kids and give up the dream, prices will go down.  Hell, I remember when a certain disliked character around here was selling his Magic Chase for $400 and I thought that was insane.  I got most of the games I wanted 8-10 years ago, luckily before the bubble.

The PCE was released in 1987, so a 30th anniversary console (like the NES mini) would make sense.  Especially with how well these retro games have been selling for the past few years.  As long as its not like the Neo Geo X (which sold like crap, but the idea was well executed).

Holy crap dude.  No need to add me to the raffle, as I have a Duo, but that's pretty awesome of you to give out.

Not shredded paper.

The boxes are filled with Lady Gaga CD's.
Better than Nickelback CDs....  Wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Quote from: FiftyQuid on 07/20/2013, 04:32 PMSo I consider this a gouge.  The auction is for Godzilla (disc only);
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Godzilla-TurboGrafxCD-1993-Disc-Only-/130951372149

But low and behold the same seller has the case and manual for sale as well;
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Godzilla-TurboGrafxCD-1993-Case-And-Art-Only-/130951372362

So this guy is splitting up a game with the hopes of getting more money for it.  Moron.
I don't think he even has the manual. It's just the back artwork.

I found one by searching random states. The girl that worked there said she will ship it to my store for me,as it was a recent trade and not on the shelves yet. So... Hopefully she follows through and my store doesn't yank it if it does come in. I spoke with two guys that work there and made them aware it was coming and they put me in the book. Here's to hoping I get it next week. I have never had to work this hard for a pretty new game.

Yes, my wii is modded, but I usually only put games on the drive I own. I'd rather not get the iso, but they devs kinda force you to with this bs game stop exclusive limited release, now don't they? It kills me that ebay is completely saturated with them and they all go for a $100+.
#13
From looking around other forums it appears everyone but us knew it would sell out and be in high demand.  There were people asking each other how many copies to buy so they can sell them later.  Guess its my own fault for not thinking that way.  Lesson learned, if there is a game I know I will want to play in the future, buy it when it comes out, unless its a mass produced money maker.
#14
I refuse to pay more than $60 - 70 for the game.  I have picked random areas around the US and called a few stores that had shown it was in stock and they are either all onhold for someone (better not be ebay pawning it!) or the online system was wrong.
#15
Hi all. I've been on the hunt for xenoblade chronicles and am appalled by the ebay and amazon prices. If anyone has a copy for sale or knows where I can pick one up, please let me know!

I mean, it depends.  If it's mine, I like to keep the holes that are there and only make them bigger if need be.  If it's not mine, I will destroy those holes and use holes for other things dont need to be used, but would like to try with something that isnt mine.  I dont want to break my own...

Ah, brings back memories.  A good friend of mine had the Turbo when I was growing up.  We use to skip school and play countless hours of Double Dungeons.  We would often throw in other games to the mix, like Bonk and Splatterhouse, but DD was what I remember most.  I personally never had one, since I already had a SNES and when the Genesis 2 went to $99, picked one of those up.  I remember seeing them on clearance at Toys'R'Us, when they still had the ticket you brought up to the front, for $50.  My friend already had the Turbo, so I figured I'd grab a Genny.  I still regret it, since they had a ton of clearance turbo games as well and am pretty sure that the all mighty Magical Chase was one of them.  What can you do, I got blinded by Sonic's speed I guess.  Plus I was maybe 13 or 14, so I didn't have much disposable income and my parents weren't going to buy it for me just because I wanted it.

Back in 2006 or 2007, My wife and I finally made space in the basement, which is partially finished.  I quickly took claim and setup my old consoles to a cheap TV I bought from work.  This was just before what I like to call the "retro age" where retro consoles became the cool thing to have.  Now that I was in my 20's, I had money to blow on items from my past I didn't get to have, so I went out and found a Turbo on Ebay and let the good times roll.  Then I went a little nuts and picked up a few others, like the CD unit, a Core I and Core II (with Briefcase for the Core and CDROM2 for the Core II), Turbo Duo, Duo-R, and an Express.  Needless to say, it is my favorite console (slightly beating out the Dreamcast).

Unfortunately, I changed jobs and then positions within my new job since setting up the basement and time is no longer as bountiful as it once was.  Hopefully I will have more time to visit the forum and play some more Turbo in the future.  Once you get to know the regulars here (and keep on their good side!), its a great place to learn.

Don't have to worry about him placing fake bids to inflate his price anymore.... I guess....

Quote from: FiftyQuid on 06/07/2012, 11:25 AMBlackandBlue, if I wanted to replace only the spindle will any spindle do?  Sony Discman's are selling for a whopping $3.99 at my local neighbourhood services.
For $4, I would give it a shot.  I can't promise it will fit, but I also don't see them making too many different size shafts on CD drive motors.  Worse case, you could most likely switch the spindle motor out as well from the donor, as long as it fits and the specifications are the same (voltage/rpm).

Ran across this on the internets...
It is a cool concept, but not sure how it would play if real.  It would certainly have a fair amount of difficulty.

I can't find the post about the turbo cd, but take a look at this one about the duo.
https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=3586.msg118622#msg118622

There are 4 pots on the turbo cd when you open it, next to the ~1" ribbon connector. I believe you want to try to adjust v102-104. Mark them so you know where your starting point was. They only need slight turns to make an adjustment. I don't think there is a real guide on how to adjust them properly, atleast not one I know of.

Quote from: meka on 03/13/2012, 03:56 AMI tried tapping the side and it lost audio straight away, I only touched it slightly, what are these tracking pots you talk about.

Thanks for the info.
#28
Sounds more like the laser needs to be adjusted/replaced.  You can test it by starting a game and lightly tapping the side.  If it loses the audio, then most likely reason is the laser is unable to focus and find its place on the disc.  There are some pots on the CD unit that can help if the laser is still good (I think tracking pot), but could be a sign of a laser on its way out.

Quote from: meka on 03/12/2012, 03:26 PMI have a  PC Engine CD-ROM2, the problem I have with it that when I am in a game after about 5mins or so the sound cuts off completely and does not come back. I have tried orginal games and copies with the same result, would a total cap replacement solve this issue?

This place is like a soap opera.  I leave for a month (not on purpose, just busy with work) and Roy comes back from the dead!  And in a Magical Chase thread...  talk about irony.

oh, and the woofer line out and RCA line out will be 4 wires.  They will all share a common ground, but left/right/sub will all have their own positive leads, so they will use pins 13-16, not 13-14.

If I would have to take a guess, I = constant (yellow) A = Ground (black) J= Switched (red) B = Blue (ant) and so on.

If you look at the back of the radio, you will see that the two far left pins are further away from the others.  Usually they do this so you can have a thicker gauge wire for those wires (constant would be a 10-15amp, so needs to thicker to carry the additional current).

You can test this theory if you have a multimeter.  There should be no resistance between pin A and the chassis of the radio.  If so, then that is ground.  Once you get the radio to turn on, (supply 12v to const and switched, ground to ground), then finding the rest are easy.  Of course if you give voltage to the wrong wires, you could fry it....

Or, you can try to open the unit and see which pin goes to an internal fuse (there may be one).  Typically the constant will have a thicker tracing on the board, to supply the higher current.  Ground will be just as thick, but probably go to a circuit that goes around the board.  Again, touching anything metal and the supposed ground pin will be resistance free.

As for the parking break, ground it to get video.  The reverse will switch the screen to the rear camera input (usually 12v to this wire will cause it to trigger).

Of course, I will say again, I am not positive, these are just suggestions, please dont blame me if the radio fries...

It kinda looks like this one: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Fujitsu-Ten-Eclipse-CD-Radio-16-Pin-Wire-Harness-New-/140676297003?pt=Car_Audio_Video&hash=item20c0f5f12b#ht_500wt_682

I do not know if it will fit for sure, but it looks like a generic style plug.  Other manufacturers like Jensen and Audiovox use one that look like that too.  Maybe they can measure it for you and see if the the spacing between pins is correct?  You may need to pull some pins and rewire it to properly match the outputs on the deck.

That screen looks bright as hell in the pic with your wife holding it.  Very impressive when compared to the standard screen.

Quote from: BlackandBlue on 11/23/2011, 04:12 PMI had retr0brighted my PCE briefcase, a couple years ago.  It's yellow again and hardly saw any sunlight...
As I understand it, once the chemical reaction that causes the yellowing has begun in a piece of plastic, it can't be stopped.

All Retrobright does is remove the outer (yellow) layer, exposing the still-white plastic underneath. It's only a matter of time before the white turns yellow again.

Retrobright treats the symptom, not the cause.
Yeah, but according to them, it was the reaction of the fire-retardant chemicals in the plastic that reacted with the UV light of the sun that caused the yellowing.  Unfortunately I don't thats the issue, or if it is, reoccurs.  It just seemed like a waste of money, since it yellowed again pretty quickly.

Ha, I had a KSS-220A "on backorder" Since January.  They just sent me an email canceling my order, since they aren't ever going to get one.  They are a good company, but "backorder" means you most likely should look elsewhere, like the link DD listed.
