Besides being one of the best games ever made and by far the greatest arcade game we'll ever see, a PCE SCD port could be identical, other than the shades of the colors.

Disagree.

Konami ports on the SNES were some of their best.  This should have been on the SNES with Sunset Riders and TMNT 4.
SNES games are not all exclusives (see the examples you gave).

Which Konami 4-player arcade beat-em-up ports for the PC Engine lead you to believe that the PCE wouldn't do a better job than SNES?
I'm not sure by what you are saying about exclusives?  Unless you are saying Bucky O'Hare could (should?) be released on different systems?  In that case the more the merrier.

It's easy to say X game should have been on Y system now a days in the age of collecting with the internet and ebay.  One of the biggest reasons I would prefer Bucky on the SNES is that I could have played it as a kid.  I never saw a Turbo CD or Duo until I started collecting.  As a kid only Radio Shack carried Turbo.  So even with the ability to track games down now as an adult I could still end up screwed where a Turbo CD version could be jacked up to $500+ and be unattainable.  Most high end SNES rares are still obtainable.

So yes I bet the Turbo could have a done a good job (Although I admit I can't think of too many popular 4 player Konami  arcade beat em up games were even released for the PCE)  However, having it on the SNES would have allowed me to enjoy it as a kid and now.

But then  again we all obey here so for the most part the answer will always be OBEY.

Sparks, are those controllers the same as the ones made by Fukushima Sansui?
I grew up with one of these controllers and own one now a days as well.  I see them time to time out in the wild but I don't see a lot of people talk about them.  Were these more easily found in Canada?

This guy wants $35 for a Turbo back cover.  As in ONLY the back cover nothing else.

I wonder if he thinks a complete loose system is worth $200 :-k

I got 2 of these shirts in 2010 when the new Splatterhouse game came out  and I was working at Blockbuster.

They were promo shirts that we got when the 2010 version of the game came out.  I asked the manger if I could have one and she said I could have both as the store didn't need it and no other employee wanted them.

Here is my little Splatterhouse collection.  It's my favourite game for the Turbo.

I loved Goldeneye but I always though Perfect Dark was far superior.  It just took the Goldeneye formula and turbo charged it with better everything.

I remember seeing how the alien weapons reloaded the first time and it just blew my mind.  That games was freaking amazing!!!

Quote from: SignOfZeta on 03/03/2015, 07:33 PMNot to mention, the N64 is maybe the exact polar opposite of the PC Engine, and since this is a PC Engine site
All jokes aside I am interested in knowing how the N64 is the polar opposite of the mighty obey?  What is your criteria?
The PCE was based largely around and older family of chips so that it would be easy to make and develop for. It's fancy on one hand, but also classy and conservative. It has one of the most diverse and original game lineups of all time with developers of all shapes and sizes making games, many of which are not rated E for everyone. It has loads of actual RPGs, no Quest 64. It has loads of real fighting games, but not War Gods. The controller is boring but practical and reliable, not a lop-sided failure prone fork shaped thing designed for one game. The PCE was always a second or third place machine but had 800 games. There were half that many on N64 despite several being all time best sellers and the machine being in everyone's home. The games also cost nearly twice as much! One is quirky but solid diversity, one is a massive flop that could never hope to live up to the Silicon Graphics hype or the legacy of its predecessor.

Seriously, we Nintendo fans went from Final Fantasy VI and Super Street Figher to having essentially no real RPGs or 2D fighters. Overnight. That's what it mean to be a Nintendo fan in 1997. You were shit out of luck while all your Saturn and Playstation owning friends had Tengai Makyo, Fatal Fury, Street Figher Zero, and so many hundreds of RPGs its sick. Hudson made quite a few N64 games but...none come to mind as being much good except for the Mario Party series.

The PC Engine was like that a Honda Civic Type R that doesn't go very fast but is always up for some fun anywhere in any weather. The N64 was like a brand new top of the range Ferrari that sits in the garage all its life because nobody can afford the maintenance.

You 90s kids that say "you have to like it if you were a certain age"...bullshit. If everyone liked whatever was put in front of them there would be no punk rock, fuck, there wouldnt be rock period. If you got smacked in the head by your dad everyday when you were a kid would you scour eBay for that too? Have some fucking control over yourself. Don't be such a slave to reruns of Double Dare.

Full disclosure: I bought a US N64 day one, loved Mario 64 and I'm one of the biggest fans of Waverace you'll ever find. I'm also quite a fan of Nintendo stuff in general, lots of Mario and stuff around here, no question. Loved the Cube especially. However, the N64 is the worst console they ever made by a mile and a total waste.
Thank you for a thoughtful response.  You make some great points.

I grew up with an N64 and enjoyed it a lot but your comment about lack of fighters really hits home.  I never had a SNES so I missed out on the 1 vs 1 fighter craze which I loved.  I got ClayFighters 63 1/3 really early on and enjoyed it a lot but I would have preferred getting modern SF games like the Saturn got at the time.

Quote from: MrFlutterPie on 02/20/2015, 03:39 PMCurrently I have beaten it with both the Ninja and the Mage.  The trick with the Mage is to level up stupidly high on the first or second screen with enemies.  By the time I finish level and beat the Black Pudding I am level 8 at the bare minimum.  He's so weak you have to grind him up.  However, his spells kick the bosses butt really quickly.  He sucks during the level but 1 or 2 high level spells can kill a boss quickly.
I think my problem with the magic-wielding characters is that I can never seem to get the spells out in time.  The button-holding mechanic for using them is superb, but I always seem to run out of magic before I get anywhere.  Is staying at an inn the only way to restore MP?
I actually save as much MP as possible for the bosses and tough enemies and use his staff to attack most of the time.  Since I over grind pretty hard I can make it by using his physical attacks for the most part.  Also because I grind so much I have a ton of gold so I max out herbs to keep my health up and buy a ton of HP belts (when available) as well as being able to afford all weapons and armour upgrades as soon as they are available.

Because of this I find I can conserve MP quite a bit until I need it.

I wanted to learn how to best collect for the Turbograhix.

To rebuy "my childhood games that I stupidly sold as a kid."  They are Magical Chase, Bonk 3, Syd Meads Tearaforming, Legend of Tommy Hero and Ca-dash.

To sell my  Turbograhix games at over ebay prices to "help out fellow collectors"

Go nuts and buy a full set proudly exclaiming how this achievement validates my existence and how euphorically happy I am....I will then sell the set 2 months later #see above^

Find other collectors who enjoy masturbating to VGA sealed games.  Start a circle jerk group.

Finally to purposely never join douphile...EVER!
