12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

Quote from: Mathius on 02/13/2012, 01:57 AMHmm that may rise it up my Saturn shootie list. :)
Yeah, it's a pretty awesome game! Been collecting a ton of Saturn shooters these days. Love the Psikyo shooters, like Gunbird, Strikers 1945, and my favorite, Sengoku Blade. Love that one! Also Batsugun, which is insanely difficult but all sorts of kick ass.

Arkhan Asylum

I'm confused.  You can't find ninja games competently through the GoogleBox9000, but can manage to find non-western released games?

This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together... Both times he blamed the Aarons in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

Sengoku Blaede (as it's printed on the box) is another one that I found extremely easy, but still I'd like to cover it.  A note to the "hardcore" players out there: I don't care about 1 CC'ing games.  If the developers cared, they would limit the number of CCs.  I can beat Battle Garegga on its hardest difficulty using only 3 or 4 CCs.  What does CC even stand for anyway?  Coin coin?

Also, I only discovered Google in time for this episode.

LOL the reason Garrega is considered very hard, is because of the rank.  The longer you live the harder it gets.  But everytime you die the rank is lowered and the game gets much easier.  If you continue you reset the rank to the lowest setting.  So by using 3 credits on hardest you may as well be playing on super easy baby mode.

It is far more difficult to complete that game on 1 credit on the easy difficulty setting then to beat it on hardest using 3 credits.  Give it a try if you don't believe me.  Put it on easy, and only play 1 credit, see how far you get.  The extra characters are from Mahou Daisakusen.

Oh I believe you.  But basically people are making up rules for themselves in order to meet the challenge and then claiming the game as a whole is hard because of the challenge they've made for themselves.  Like playing through Pier Solar without leveling up and then claiming the game is easy (or hard) because of that.  If a game wants to be considered difficult, it must be so right out of the box (hidden codes notwithstanding).  The game, as Raizing has made it, is easy unless you limit yourself.  I'm saying that if the game is truly to be considered difficult, they should have limited the amount of continues to one or none.

Oh man! I am glad they didn't do that to Nexzr! :P

Tatsujin

Arcade games have always been quater munchers, else how would they have get back their monnies? From the real game cracks, playing 4 times trough it with one coin? LOL.

Well obviously arcades games are exempt from that since their whole point is to get more quarters.  I'm sure you know that I was referring to home games.

Samurai Ghost

I think you might be a good shoot-em-up player, Joe, or at least above average! But yeah, while Sengoku Blaeaede is pretty easy I love the graphical style, characters, gameplay, music, presentation, everything!

I'm not so strict about 1CCing a game, but it depends on the game. For older games like Kyukyoku Tiger/Twin Cobra or Gunhed/Blazing lasers I'll usually reset it if I die more than once in the first 6 stages or so. For more frantic/casual games like the Psikyo shooters I'll usually start feeling bad if I have to continue more than 2 or 3 times to clear it. If I have to start credit feeding to get through a level it usually means I don't know the level/pattern well enough so I'll go back and play through it again. Credit feeding through a game just feels empty to me, aside from a few games from the Metal Slug series that I can't seem to complete without at least a dozen credits.

Right, but battle garrega is a straight to home arcade port (with some options plus) vs. pure console concepted games which were never intend to squeeze quaters out of your pocket, except when you bought 'em in the shop.

Samurai, I really like Sengoku Blade as well.  And I often reset certain games like R-Type when I die even once.  I'm pretty good at shooters, but not all though.

Tats, yes it is an arcade port but obviously they don't need to keep massive quantities of continues intact (not sure if they're unlimited or not).  I'm all for a secret mode that allows this, but certainly not right out of the box.  There are no monies to earn back after the game has been purchased for home use.

esteban

Guys, stop debating the merits/flaws of quarter munching vs. home console and play some Cosmo Gang The Video.

I'm serious.

No, GS does not need to do a CD-i special. Phillips' trash does not deserve a whole episode. But an ep talking about all the failed consoles I can see. It's been done before on other sites, but I'm sure Joe and Dave would put a good spin on it.

Considering how much Joe loves the Master System I can see a Game Sack episode on failed consoles going great.

Just kidding, but in the US market at least, it could be categorized as such.

majors! Don't be so negative :pcgs:

Of course we need entire episodes for garbage like CD-i and it's brethren: these are the systems that we are least familiar with and therefore most ignorant of. I would love to find out more about them.

Some topics are worthy of committing to an episode (or THREE episodes, as PunkCryborg wisely suggested) because they will shed light on the dregs of the video game barrel. :pcgs:

Looks like it's finally time for me to break down and get a 32X. I had Jumping Flash back when the PS1 was new. I had it on a demo disc and loved it so much that I bought the full game. I must've sold it though. :(

Interesting bucky o'hare was mention in that video joe. It's a shame it didn't get a 'sequel but konami had a arcade version of the game as well.

I have Bucky O'Hare and think the game features outstanding parallax, which the NES wasn't supposed to be able to do.

Samurai Ghost

Enjoyed this episode, especially with Jackie Chan and Jumping Flash.  Loved Jumping Flash when it came out and it's still fun to play. Have my copy somewhere at my parent's house. Remember picking it up for $4.99 from Electronics Boutique. Really making me think about finally getting a 32X as well...

Bucky O'Hare seems cool, although a similar game that I would have gone with personally would be Little Samson. Apparently it's really expensive on the NES, but damn, what an awesome game!

SamIAm

Knuckles' Chaotix is fantastic. It wouldn't catch half the flack it does if it hadn't been for the fact that it's neither a traditional Sonic game nor a new 3D Sonic game, like people were hoping for. The bungee function really does work, and once you get used to it, the game is FAST.

That's right, Knuckles Chaotix is the fastest Sonic game.

It does have a couple of flaws, though. The random stage select, as well as the random partner select, really shouldn't have existed (though you can get around them with bonus stage items). Also, they did an awful lot of idea recycling in each Zone. It's almost impossible to tell them all apart.

Still, the first level and the greenhouse level are some of the best in Sonic history, I think, especially with their awesome music. Too bad my 32X is in America, or I'd give it a spin right now.

I went back and tried playing Jumping Flash 1 and 2 a few months ago, the control was just too much of an adjustment for me to enjoy it.

Definitely my favorite episode at this point! :D

Note about Super Air Zonk. Does anyone else hear the similarities between Super Air Zonk's music, particularly the guitar work, to that of Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast? I am convinced they share some of the same music staff.

Joe Redifer

I doubt Jun Senoue was even in the biz at the time Super Air Zonk was released.

Awesome episode of course!! Think I'll give Spriggan Mark 2 a chance. I have heard mixed things about it but it looks pretty cool to me.

Almost as entertaining as the episode itself is watching the Genesis fans come out of the woodwork in the comments section and start complaining how it's "not fair" to compare the Turbo port of Forgotten Worlds to the "early release" Genesis port. Not only that, but the Turbo port is "hundreds of megs" because it's on CD-ROM and must also take advantage of the "CPU upgrades" offered by the Turbo's CD-ROM drive.

Mathius

Bet you $50 that all those arguments taking place are just Nintega using his multiple accounts to argue with himself. :P

I'm a huge Mega Drive fan but yeah, that's pretty sad.

It's not fair that a port on superior hardware is better! Waaaah!

I played some of the original arcade game through one of the Capcom collections a while back and although the game was better, the music is awful. Turbo version 4 life.
