Last night I was able to get the lord of the rings movies on bluray for $30 another bundle with the new game for PS4 for $54. So that takes care of my brother in laws.

[Off-Topic / Kickstarter Idea]

I have played with this idea for nearly two years but have always kept it as a idea. But with the growing success of crowd funding such as kickstarter and resurgence in retro gaming I thought I would put feelers out and see what sort of reaction there is in the gaming community.

Develop investment castings for metal reproductions of the putter shells for:

NES system (broken down into each plastic part including the hinged door and useless dust cover on the bottom for the expansion port that was never used)

NES controller (possibly including the d-pad, and buttons)

NES cartridge (screws not included).


Depending if this is a success on kickstarter venture out to other platforms such as the Genesis, TG-16, and SNES.

THIS WOULD BE BOTH FUNCTIONAL as the guts of a system could be transplanted into this custom case enclosures or used as a very fancy display/paper weight.

It would also serve for anyone wanting to do custom paint jobs on a metal surface as a additional idea.

I have sent a email to a local company that does both large scal and small production run for casting in metal for quotes. The good thing is this will give me numbers to base my kickstarter idea around and a realistic funding goal. The better part is the foundry is two hours from where I live and I plan to go in person to better develop my proposal in kickstarter and for updates should my idea get funded.

At this point I just wanted a better idea on what gamers and collectors thought of this idea. I know it will always come down to price and if a $500 dollar clone NES was laughable to most this might be seen in similar standing.

At this time pricing is an unknown. But I have taken the first step in making the right contacts and awaiting quotes.

The good part is I can do it in stages if needed. Start with what will most likely be the most affordable part the cartridge itself then do a second kickstarter campaign for the system aster I have developed an instal base of satisfied backers and word of mouth.

I know there are home mkdders developers and alike who already have had successfully kickstarter campaigns for their YouTube accounts games and much more. So why not make this idea into a reality.


Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I'll be honest........I hardly see any differnace between the PS4 and Gamecub verson.....


In most cases honestly the GC verson is better.

The PS4 just looks (for the most part)

Zoomed in
Lighting blooms everywhere taking away details that you see in the GC (like on the candels)
The big diffrence is you see more of the stubble on characters instead of a smear for a goat tee
The colors look washed out
Slightly more resolution on the manson (the wood molding on the walls leading to the front door


I am scraching my head over how this is a iprovment...well...it is a work in progress...maybe this was their first day porting the game's data to run on a PS4 ...

Although I'll consider a Model 2 (w/extension for a Model 1 Genesis) I prefer the classy look of a Model 1 Sega CD. 

My current Sega CD only works when it wants to and at times stops while reading/loading...this had made playing it very frustrating ........  I need me my Sega CD fix! ........

Something Something Darkside.......


Well I found myself at another flea market and its been awhile since I posted any thing new here so here we go! 😆

I walked into this one sellers shop. He had alot of interesting things. Wanted to be called "Smoking Joe" and was very proud of his wears. Had a poster sized framed picture of him and Jay Leno where he claimed to have sold him a large collection of Poursh car collectables. I have doubts but then again who knows. I did find it odd his prize picture was printed at such an exagerated level it was grany and pixelated to a point that it was distracting.

Some of the things he had that draw my eye like a Killer Clowns  from Outtetspace latex maskes. And really good ones. A he man Canadian only toy that I never had seen or knew about of some sort of Malboga looking purple dragon ish thing. Chrome Bender from Futurama.

ebay is cheaper ....way way cheaper.

But for me most of all was a Gremlins Striped figure. He had a loose vintage possable one. Ruby eyed and cool. Wanted $300 😣  guy must ne mad as there is a loose one on ebay for $40 buy it now. Even pointed it out but he was firm. Ill probably biy the $40 one later in the week.

Except that wasn't the only Strip figure he had. No he also had one in a yellow shirt that read "I'm a Toys R Us Kid."  That one I really liked. Claimed it was "Rare" and recalled shorty due to parents not likeing it being sold as a source of devil worshiping.



Get this.  This gem goes for $600 in his eyes. Ihave been uunable to find anything to substantiate this figures pedigree but then again there isn't much to go one most Gremlins figures that I can find that isn't the more recent NECCA stuff.

This mind you was the first seller. Interesting collection but insain pricing. He had other things. Some LARGE gas powered radio controled plains. Sorry no pics and a large Micky Mouse that he got from some sort of clothing store for Disney. Pretty cool heavy metal and resin three foot full body figure.

But for me I was off to see what else was there.   

Ran into a regular toy dealer. He has more things of note. A Gentle Giant Jumbo Kenner Alien,  Action GI Joe Helicopter figure, the jumbo Kajian Knife Head figure and the 8-bit retro Prediture figure from NECCA.

But I was drawn more to the odd ball babby Skelitor figure. So much so that he is holding on to it for me to but next month.



I ended up buying a few Sega Saturn games and a repro of the early bird display for the vintage Starwars Kenner figures and two game cube games. and got off "cheap" at only $45 dollars spent.

I'll be sure to post my pick ups tomorrow as I didn't take pictures and my wife is asleep.

And if anyone knows more about that Toys R Us t shirt Gremlin let me know. Maybe he just stck a t shirt off a teddy bear and called it rare. But you have to admit its fun to look at lol

Okay probably the most nonsensical place to post this but WTF.


I hate the inner politices of being a state employee.

I have been at my current carrer 4 months shy of 3 years.  Before this I was a medic in the Army for 8 years and I between that and this I was a broke ass college student working to get my masters degree to work as a counselor for people with disabilities.

As of early this year I got married and made what is possibly my first big life change that didn't involve just me.

The problems?

Well my wife and I met in college but due to us getting the same degree found ourself working in the same filed prior to becomingn engaged or married. Mind you all that took place with in a 2 year dating and courtship.  Not only do we work in the same filed we initaly worked in the same agency at the same filed office upone moving from our home towns.

My wife also happens to be a citizen of another country and tant created other issues with her work visa. She was initaly told prior to being hired that her continued ability to Orr in the US meanes her employer must sponsor her.  She was told there would be no problem the state has hired immigrants before and sponsorship would not be a problem once she completed her 9 month probation.....


That turned out to be a lie when she rebuffed the unwanted advances of the regional director who told her 6 months in the job that the state cannot sponsor her visa and if her current visa which was for only 12 months issues by the university upone graduation end she would be terminated.

She found a work around and got a temporary visa that had to be renewed every year....this cost $8,000.00 each time......

We got married after she got her first temporary visa and submitted request for work visa sponsorship through marriage...another $9,000.00. That cost us.  Not including getting married and so forth expenses..

Once we completed the request for sponsorship we were with in a 60-90 day bubble and waited for approval or deniale. While immigration checked every part of our relationship and marriage...

I hated feeling like our relationships validity was in question but it is understandable why immigration and department of defense does this...

The day my wifes temorary visa was to end with no word on our visa request through marriage we went into work thinking "ok last day for my wife but we can make one paycheck workout. Just don't touch our savings for our first house....be positive.  Be a rock....show her there is nothing to fear...."

Well that last day at work she got notice from department of I migrations website that her visa was approved and mailed that same day....we were ecstatic. We printed it and submitted it as proof to HR, and anyone else within management we could think of...a stay of execution one might say...


Sadly according to legal for the state agency it was not enough....l."it doesn't mean she was approved.....it is automated and only means it was mailed......". We asked if she could be placed on emergancy leave..leave without pay...anything for four days to let the paperwork to reach us via mail.....we were told no.....two days later her paper work came in with a date stamp of approval on her work visa card as twos here days before her date of termination...


But there was nothing we could do.....the termination already happened....if she were to reapply for her old job once posted she was told she would have to prove she was the most qualified....during that same month someone with five years experience in our field transfered to our office.....


We were scared that being in a small town options for my wife to find employment would be to limited....so I encouraged her to apply in bigger cities where we could both apply and find a job...if her old job got listed then she would apply and if she got it great no need to move....things go back to normal........


During her one month of unemployment she applied for unemployment benefits ....we leanerned that during your first five years as a per minute resident if you apply and USE any public assistance you will be imidiently deported...


She called frantically to have her application for benefits terminated......they made her talk to three supervisors all who encouraged her to let the application move forward....until crying she pleaded with them to just terminate the application...she felt humiliated. 

Ultimately she was interviewed for three positions in a bigger city....she was offered all three jobs and cherry picked her favorit....all still in the same agency......


I also applied to the same positions.....I was only given one interview...despite more experience, being given a recent pay rase for producing strong numbers to the state, and getting nearly perfect performance reviews each year...


Of the jobs one person got hired with only having a Bachlers degree...I didn't even get an interview.... Once more to even keep the job for what we do you MUST have a masters degree...or get it with in two years of being hired....if you don't have it prior to being hired the state will PAY for your tuition to get the degree.....   

The one I did get the interview for ...the day of my interview the same manager hired my wife....knowing full well who I was....and our intent to make a family.........I didn't get that job...instead someone with NO experience in the filed was hired....


A week later I was interviewed for another position....same agency..same job.....once again I am it hired......I am told it was a coin flip between me and the person who got it......this person seems to have. Slight ever so small more time as a counselor....at lest with this I don't feel insulted.....at lest this time it isn't someone without the same credentials as me......


But I also learn the day of my interview that my wife is pregnant.


I also learn later that weekend that due to a month gap of employment she would not be granted maternity leave when she is expected 9 months later....she will have to use what ever sick time she can get between now and then...we are must wait 90 days before her insurance will start....and I am not allows to add her time mine as the time period to are changes ended a week before she learned of her pregnancy.


So now here I am........I travel every Friday to spend the weekend wi my wife who feels alone and scared Ina bigger city without me there........I travel every Monday at 5AM to get to work in the other city....my apartment consiste of a can opener a microwave and an inflatable bed as I hope for a better job opurtunity that will allow me to move with my wife....

I am told that transfers cannot be done unless there is. Buisness need not personal...even though a personal transfer happened in my own office a year ago with the job never being posted even internally. ...


I am told I have to have a better reason to want to transfer then to be in the same city as my wife just because she is pregnant..lwhere other people are hired (I know this as a co worker from my unit to the office I recently was rejected from) are hired because "I am bored being in a rural area and want to be in a bigger city with more to do". His own words. 

I am told that I have to impress the manger.....what do my work performances, numours projects that have increased refferance rates, and soecialization in working with SSDI/SSI recipients, veterans, and workmanship comp not wow people?  Must we hired people with no experience, and lacking even the education requirements more consideration first?


I feel as though I am at my wits end..........I feel as though I am failing as a husband....I feel so far removed from my own family that even though my parents would love to help me.  I am simply to far removed for them to help......I mean geographically removed that is......


Part of me wants to give my notice and leave to the same city.....get any job until a better one comes my way...flip burgers if I must.........but do,something to be there......


I don't want to continue interviewing for jobs within the same agency as I feel I have target painted on my back to not be hired....


But T the same time if I quit....does it mean that they win?   And more so hat about my clients?   I don't feel I should just abandon them.....just yesterday I talked a kid out of suicide in my office who threatened to slit his own wrist ..pulled out a knife and everything.......


If I leave. Would anyone else give these people any real care?    When I submitted my report most others response was that I should have left my office...sounded an alarm and have the police take him down to be locked up...instead of oh I don't know...use crises intervention and our ability to do therapy!?....

I still reported it mind you and he still went directly into custody to a hospital for pay eval...but if irst made damn sure to talk him down get him to hand me the knife....make sure he didn't have anything else....gave hima Dixy cup,of water and talk him through that I had to call the cops for his safety and that it is for his best interest to talk things out and get back on his meds......


But somehow......I am made to feel as though I am unqualified to be hptransfered to an office in the same city as my now pregnant wife?.......


I just feel so disgusted. This whole it is who you know not what you know...


And the gender inequality.  Because I am male and prior military I am constantly seen as more replaceable then a female co worker.....because I am male.....


Over 80% of the agency I work for is female....same with upper management. Hell the commissioner is a women...you go to any of our state offices for my agency you'd be lucky to find three guys working in a group of 30 women....



Rant over...pissy feelings less pissy.........anger....well that didn't really change.

The 2002 GameCube remake of the original ResidentnEvil game is getting a face lift, and a port to every system EXCEPT the WiiU.

We are talking XBONE, 360, PS3/4, and PC.  to be released in 2015.

[Off-Topic / Silly Eerdrive Question]

I always see the donor cartridges used for the everdrive board notched with a slot for easy access to the micro card.  I get why but I honestly never liked seeming a micro Sd card sticking out the top...


Is it possible to mount the everdrives in various carts NES, SNES, Genesis, N64 etc without notching a slot for the micro SD card?  I wouldn't mind just unscrewing the cartridge poping in the everdrive and closing it up.....seeing how access to the micro card wouldn't really be needed much and unscrewing the cartridge to access the everdrive is not an issue for me or much of a issue.


Or is it that the board simply won't fit with an micro sd card in it without the slot for the sd card to stick out of?

So I have my original Doom N64 game from way back when I first bought it new......it along with Golden Eye and the two Zelda games are the only games I kept from when I originally owned the system.....oddly I stumbled on them....


I recently picked up a second copy of Doom a few weeks ago and I have been playing with this idea for some time....


I plan to find a cheap red cartridge N64 game like dirt cheap. Around a buck if possible and swap out the games. I always felt Doom should have been in a red cartridge like its SNES game. 

My question is what is a good way to take off the original label without damaging it to regale it on the diner red cart?  I suspect a hair dryer to heat up the glue maybe?


In any case I thought I'd ask here is anyone had an idea.....or a red N64 cartridge if you don't want and or need one ..


Option ab will be to print out a new sticker liable but I'd like to use the original sticker if possible.

Who here collects, owens, read(s), or generally liked Nintendo Power?

Yes yes a Turboplay thread might sound better and our inner obey would release its death grip on our very souls just a hair more.    BUT     I am working to complete a Nintnendo Power magazine collection......and just scored a BIG chuck towards that for a reasonable price of $1 an issue.

In 2010 got lucky with issues 1-49 from a guy looking to sale his original subscription he had as a kid.  Got it for $120. At the time felt a little heavy in the wallet but soon it was announced that the magazine would be discontinued.  Knowking there was a start and stop the idea at that point of collecting an entire run seemed obtainable (especisally since it was less then 300 issues total).  Where as initaly I thought just getting issues 1-100 would be neat.

Currently I am watching: orange is the new black, the 100, big bang theory, 2 broke girls, bates motel, game of thrones,star wars clone wars (still making my way through season 3), and I was enjoying too human but that got killed off sigh 

I am going to rematch orange is the new black before starting season two as my wife never saw it and wants to get into it.

I know there is a thread compairing mostly Genesis and the few SNES games that saw ports to  games on the TG-16/Duo and PC-Engine.

But lts comapir which games was the better port of the game itself. Be it an arcade port or as an original gamr.

Maybe it's the only port thats affordable. Or maybe you have memories playing it over the other verson. Levels where added or graphics improved.

[General Gaming / Sega Saturn Fiasco]

So I debated for a moment wheatear or not to share this particular attempted craigslist transaction, but after yesterday I figured what the hell.  It's for the LOL's after all.

So per usual I was searching craigslist for anything that looked like a good deal.  I live in a small town so I never expect anything, and the video game section is always flooded with current and last gen stuff.  I happened upon a listing for some systems, games all misalaniaous, but the seller had listed a Sega Saturn.  That interested me as I have a few games I have picked up but no system yet.  The seller did not have any pictures listed, but I txt'd him in any case. 

He responds saying he still had the system and was looking for $125, but states it is because he has 5 games for it.  I think Okay price is inflated, but maybe the games are worth it, so I ask him to send a picture of the system, and games.  Later that day he sends the pictures, and the system looks to be in good condition with a rental case which I think COOL it will match nicely with my N64 Rental case.  The 5 games listed are loose, common, and uninteresting shelf ware Sega Genesis games. 

Seller: "I don't have any saturn games just genesis, but the saturn plays both disk and cartridge".

I respond saying I couldn't do $125, as the system (with 2-3 games) typically ranges $65-75.  I also inform him that I did not want the games, and that the games do not work for the system.  He seller (wait let me type it off the cell phone).  I inform him that the Saturn used the cartridge slot for extra ram not to play genesis games as he seemed to think.

Seller: "Your wrong my friend.   That Saturn is hard to get and your prices are wrong.  I don't need ur money.  Thanks for the heads up about the games not working".

I then inform him that it's not about price or money; it's about his need to be completive.  In the last two months the town has two retro game stores that opened up, and other larger retro game stores 2 hours away.  I gently remind him that even on eBay his prices are largely over inflated for a system he can't even prove works unless the buyer has games.  I told him I'd be willing to go as high as $85 due to it having the rental case, but that I would prefer to test the system out at one of the retro game stores (the owners are cool with that as if the sell falls though they usually buy but at an even lower price point or offer more for store credit) before we exchange money. 

I even send the seller a picture of ANOTHER craigslist posting for a guy selling a Saturn complete in box with actual Saturn Games (including Nights into dreams Christmas edition and the weird controller for the game) for $70.  That seller is only an hour away of which I also contacted and will most likely buy his Saturn.

Seller: "Your wrong again.  Its about demand not actual value.  I know a lot of people that make that mistake.  You think I dont know that your gonna try your hardest to get it as cheap as possible.  THanks for your efforts but im to save for that.  Ill get my askign price and ill sleep good at night because ive learned that one man will pay 5 and another man will pay 50 for the same product.  Its all about deman.  Thanks again. Have a nice day.

I stated, look, of course I want it as cheap as possible, but I am not going to pay a premium when I can get it cheaper even WITH shipping.  Feel free to find some teenager or 12 year old willing to pay prices for things they know nothing about its value.  You might have a sentimental attachment or maybe like me collect gaming systems and games.  It's all good you'll find someone to pay your price MAYBE, but you are driving away local collectors and customer's and exhibiting a clear lack of understanding of the products you are selling.

Seller:  "Wrong again.  You better off not assuming you know me or how I run my business.  I sell for profits much higher than most sellers and I am confident in my strategy and I have never sold to a minor directly.  Trust me and take no offense.  I know what im doing!  Sentiment is something I have little of.

At this point I honestly broke out in tears laughing so hard.  The minor comment was to much, he makes this seem like we are selling dope lol...

WELL the transaction never happened the conversation ended, but I did snap a pic or two of my shelf o games, and arcade and said "It's cool man, but clearly you just burned bridges with part of the retro market in a town with less than 3,000 people"

Game over man GAME OVER!  The AVGN has finally played a TG-16 game on his channel.....granted it is not the character AVGN but a let's play ish video but now we can expect to see Splaterhouse jump to $80 bucks a copy and systems jump to $250.

Because you know it's popular mainstream now.

[General Gaming / Famicom Twin]

So I am interested once again in buying one of these systems.   They to me seem like the best bang for the buck..it's famicom it is a disk layer it makes Julian fries. 

But which one to get....thanks to recommendations there are a few for sale ranging from $140, $180 and $200 at windy games.

But I would like advice from someone here who has or uses these things.

Price all these prices are fair game and honestly I just like the look of the red one. It's at $200 and I don't know if it is due to condition that it is a red one or what have you...I just like it looks like the sports cars of famicoms.

Modding and use in a us tv be it modern or old CRT.  What are my options for video out put!  Does this come out of the box with av or RGB? Or rf coaxial?  Are there modes for it? 

The controls see, wired in like the original famicom ....deal breaker or once again modes to allow plug and play with other NES controllers? 

Any typical issues with the system I need to be mindfull of?  Things I could send to a moder to fix and sprua up if I were to kid it in any way.


Lastly recommendations for games. Biped it disk or famicom. I have a few already as I use a super8 to pay famicom games on my SNES: kid Dracula, Splaterhouse naughtyngrafiti, devil world, gradius

Would like to get others like a complete Rockman set and a few others like Metroid and Zelda on the disk system..

Might sound .unrealistic. 

But


Has there been or is there a possibility for a ever drive cd component.

Example being the Hu card everdrive having the capability to read save and play the cd based games, but from the Hu card.


I could be completly dead wrong 100% but the cd attachment was because CDs hold more data right?  It wasn't the cd having additional processing power right?   It was just used as a source of more data to read but be played with the pc core graphic processors. 

This might be a old topic an old wied eyed dream but just throwing out my rambaings for the day.

Thoughts on storage people.

Now I know we would all love a complete anything collection but let's face reality typically buying a losse retro game is the most economical way to go....


If I can find a boxed game and I am either lucky or don't mind the money I'll do it. Or if it is from a game or series I just know I want boxed I'll go hunting...

But the majority of my stuff is loose.  I have started going with bit boxes for my NES stuff. A little pricey and yes universal game case is simply cheaper I like the look design and over all feel of the bit boxes. Have nearly half my NES games bit boxed and have a new extra bit boxes for titles off that list.

But this is PC Engine Hu card time.

Now I know we have options.  There are reproduction labels, cases and what not. 

There are those who (saw in a old old YouTube video when I was learning all there was NEC) where a guy kept his like base ball cards.  In slave and sleeves of these semi high end binders that tornimate yugio magic card players would use.  Very smart cheapest by far and hen you are short on space best option.


Now for me.  I am cheap...but like my DVD collection back when DVDs where the thing and my whole spending money on me what a thing to saves space I dumped all my DVD cases and at the time ps2 Xbox cases and put everything in binders.


Looking back. Worst design I made since that Tawanies girl that was not always a girl...or taiwan.

Not a new or even interesting thread but something every new member/collector will post at lest once.  What is a good list of Hu card only (not going into the super cd realm until I compelte my Hu card collection.) of Turbografx 16/PC Engine games? 

Rules: 

not looking for games that unplayable to a non native speaking/reading Japanies gamer

If the game is cheaper as an import and playable I.e cotton, CORYOON, or Bonk3 please recommend the cheaper alternative

Not looking for a rare list key game list or personal top ten.  I simply want games that are fun

I don't play sports games. Unless it is like base wars on the NES or the mutant league games off the genesis or NBA Jam I won't enjoy it.

With that in mind have at it.  I will compile a list based off suggestions and reviewing game pay off YouTube if I am unaware what the game is like.  Once a finalized list I will start collecting and spit money or bi monthly hauls depending on what my gaming budget looks like any given month. Once I have 100% that I will then move over to the super cd games.  Any pointers tips or heads up for anyone looking to sale trade or what have you from the pending want list pm me. 

Since I am new I am simply trying to keep a open minde to those often over looked gems that don't go for the mega bucks but should always be in a pc engine gamers collection.

Grettings all I am new to these forums and in some ways new to the PC engine as wel.

I'd say I first got started with possibly my best Craigslist haul ever, a turbografx 16 and about 8 hu card games for $35 dollars about two years ago.  Splater house, a puzzle box game (my stuff is in storage so I can't look at the exact games), legendary axe 1 & 2, bonk 1 & 2 and a few others. 

Originally I was there to buy his NES collection (500 plus games) for $200 but I was litterly 15 minutes late.   What he did have left was his turbo Grafix and what where clearly once rental games.  The guy looked to be at a loss as no one he showed it to knew what it was or wanted it.  Well I did, and have enjoyed it since.

I have picked up a few other games here and there, and just last weekend won on eBay two of engines already region modes and RGB out.  These will now become my primary systems to use.  Why two?  One for back up...plus it was under $300 including shipping..,I am slightly weary as it is a china seller ( not to be that guy but it is the land of the bootleg). 

I also have a turbo duo (caps need replacing as the sound is iffy at best at times) and a turbo cd (sadly doesn't work, no spiny the diskey). 

I plan to continue my hu card fetish and venture more into the cd games as wel....mostly pick up import games for the more pricy and rare us games as they seem to be shooters and no real knowledge of Japanies is needed....

I just thought I'd drop in now that I know of this Comunity and say hi. 

I am still compiling my list of must haves for the system, and just here to enjoy the Comunity the ride and possibly to learn a little more then I did before.



I know many will areasy say ditch the turbo duo and for for the better Japanies counter part but I have a soft spit for the us version....why?   Because it was something as a kid I never had but a slightly older and douchy cousin did.....land now I finally have it....when I poped in Bonk memories came flooded back and I have to say the pc engine is a colorfull fun and entertaining system muddled in its 8-16 but hybrid world. 

Hopefully my wife and I find a house soon so I can take the bulks of my gaming collection out of storage and enjoy them again...and hopefully have that man cave I have been pinning for for the past 4 years lol.
